Vicious beasts roam the land, roars once filled the air, full of magic and power to change nature. Each and every creature sealed, and the beasts' powers only remains, devoid of their previous intelligence.
"Read the second paragraph--"
The window, without its covers would reveal the blinding light of the sun. Uncovered by clouds, and the blue skies a sign of clear and perfect weather in Lunapolis. Though such weather makes Hans more drowsy.
The young man yawns but tries to hide it by covering himself with the book. In the corner of his sight, he saw Selene looking out of the window, but as if avoiding to be caught immediately focused back to the lesson.
It seems like both of them are out of it, he thinks to himself as he gets back to where the lesson is. Soon, the bell rang and their day at school finally ended. He has been in Lunapolis for months, yet so many things have changed for him. Hans has met new friends, though...
"Hey Hans! We're planning to go hang out at the mall, think you can come with us?"
"Ah er, well I can't. I have family work to help with. Sorry about that, Luke."
"You really gotta tell us where you work for man, we'll go there once in a while if you feel lonely or something!"
"It's finee. I'm not usually in service anyway. You guys won't even see a hair of mine."
"Well...alright. We'll just be there if you can hang."
Hans sigh as he looks as his friend exit the room with his group. He can't help but feel envy, after all what young kid wouldn't want to be with their friends and hobbies?
"Tough isn't? Having work."
Selene initiates, which was out of blue and unexpected from the young lady.
"Ah, you pretty much have your librarian duties right?"
"Yes...it gets lonesome at times."
"But we still gotta do it. I, well, I'm hoping it stays peaceful on your side. Mine just do--"
Just as Hans was about to get chatty, Selene puts out her hand to stop him and gather his attention, to which worked and interrupted his speech.
"I got to go."
His words were cut short as the young girl sprints off out of the room. Hans could only widen his eyes in response, and pout. Still, after seconds he smiled, hoping that maybe this moment might just start the three's friendship again.
"Executioner No.4, I hope we're able to successfully catch the culprit today."
"I wasn't exactly aiming to get the target today."
"Then are you trying to identify whether the culprit is human or card?"
"Yeah...that's still part of the process."
"Understood, Wise will proceed with the plan."
The clock ticks and the time the culprit is suspected to arrive came closer.
"I just hope they don't travel further using their magical ability."
No.4 thought to himself, thinking it would take more time to pinpoint where his target would stop if it were to be that their final destination lies elsewhere.
Not exactly on time, but their culprit appeared on the scans of Wise.
"She's he--and now gone."
"It's okay, please take a record of where the target last appeared on your search."
Wise reported, but to no avail it was suddenly gone. No.4 intensified his sense, and felt the presence of a distortion in reality. A sound of broken time, a bloop in what is otherwise silent and steadfast world.
There it is, he thought. But he kept waiting till there is no more sudden changes. Soon, seemingly satisfied his target began to move away, and fortunately, kept a slow pace.
No.4 followed where he feels that presence. Although he has to follow it by foot too, due to lacking the ability to fly through the sky. Running, he begins to lower the gap between him and his target. Thankfully, he was athletic enough to run without having to catch his breath for a long while, something he was able to develop during middle school.
"Sis! Welcome back!"
"I'm home!--"
Those sounds were intensified to his hearing, those were the conversation his target was having. Soon, he caught up to where he felt the presence he's been following and so kept himself in a distance. Enough for her to not feel anything strange, should she be able to use her ability to sense magic, but atleast enough to investigate the situation.
The house, though is sure to about to fall apart when a storm arrives seems to be clean. Foundations were slowly falling apart, and roof could barely cover the insides.
"I got you the toy you've been asking for~ Come here you!"
The voice was sweet, yet mature. The young girl surprises her little brother with the toy he's been eyeing the other kids with. It was a plain robot toy, nothing detailed to its mechanical parts. Only enough so a child could move its arms and legs. As her little brother sees the toy, happiness radiated from its eyes as he holds onto its plastic container. Feeling touched by her brother's cuteness, the big sister tugged her little sibling into a hug.
"Alright! To keep it going, your sister is going to make your favorite food!"
The young girl said, pumping her arms and folding the sleeves of her shirt before taking out the groceries she'd stolen. It was nothing extravagant, just eggs, a pouch of rice and a sugar pack.
She wasn't anything you'd expect a girl of her age would look. She was, for the most part unkept but her you could see she's properly cleaning herself. The young girl wasn't wearing a uniform from any school, just a plain oversized shirt that she ties on her waist with a rope.
No.4 remembers what Selene answered his question from before.
"A normal girl would've wished to go somewhere else, because their needs are already being fulfilled. She's got all the power to get what she wants though! Well, I should be glad it wasn't worse than this."
"What are you sounding like a fairy mother for?"
No.4 was suddenly woken up from his thoughts as he heard a familiar voice.
"No.2! Stop it with the surprises. You almost made me lose focus."
"Hehe, sorry about that. But you see, Magical Girls are people too. They have people they love, care and cherish."
No.2 stated while clasping hands together while looking dreamy. No.4 swears he's seen sparkles start to appear before her, knowing magic he's sure she conjured it herself.
"I know, they're kids. You don't have to remind me of that. Which is why I still can't believe they could abuse their powers that their mind seems to have crazy."
No.4 sits on the platform he makes on the air and hugs his knees, rolling around as he feels the motion stretch his body.
"Then what would you do? As the "Cold" member of the Executioners, you've never once had seen this case before right? A young girl aiming to only care for her brother. Sweet sweet child in this harsh world."
"Cold isn't exactly his personality, but the way he conducts his operations are, well..."
She thought to herself as she watches the young man roll around childishly.
"Did you come here to just tease me? I get it, No.2. You've been following this kid since before right? Why not report it to your handler?"
"Ehh, why would I? The kid hasn't done anything wrong. No crime of any supernatural control in my area, means nothing to report right?"
Each Executioner comes with their own handler to give them their own tasks. Such as Wise is to No.4. For No.2, hers is called Kind.
"You're right No.2. I haven't experienced this case before. Not the part where a girl ignores the law to care for others...Peace. But certainly not as intense as her crime was. I'm more fascinated as to why she didn't go after bigger goals."
"That's right. A couple of groceries might have been what a kid is only capable of lifting. But beside that, she could've made it easier for herself should she have just went for the money. And then? What line of thought are you having No.4?"
"Nothing. Perhaps she's just satisfied with what she has right now."
No.4 answered back before walking away. Satisfied with the outcome he has seen, he starts to back away and retreat to his area.
"Where you going No.4? Thinking of letting that girl go?"
"No, I just think I should head back now. I didn't plan to do anything else anyways. Not in today atleast. She could get worse tomorrow who knows."
"No way! Believe in the purity and innocence of kids!"
"I've seen enough psychos not to!"
They both shouted at each other before finally letting go of her colleague, No.2 stares at the back of No.4 as he walks away.
"Well, I guess that's enough fun for now."
She says as she smiles and leaves the area for another time. As she leaves, the young girl hurriedly looked out of the window to find no one, leaving herself all the more curious but have no choice but to get back to her cooking
"Ah! The food--"
