Then there was darkness, followed by the sound of her morning alarm. She blinked her eyes open.
"Ciaran," she said quietly.
As she awoke, the name of the man from her dreams was still on her lips.
Delilah was perplexed; the only thing that kept repeating in her mind were his words, "Do not forget." She touched her face, and tears streamed down her cheeks. She wiped her eyelids.
She felt a sharp pain in her back, near the mysterious symbols, and on her wrist, where he was holding her. When she looked at her wrist, she noticed imprints of his hand and fingers. Delilah was terrified; she felt she knew him in some way, but she struggled as memories from the dream faded. She quickly grabbed a pen and scribbled Mortala's name. She was aware that the tattoo on her back was linked to the man from her dreams. She dashed to her handbag and pulled out the gift box. She opened it; and took out the jewelry, she got the strangest chill down her spine. She threw the jewelry across the room to the other side.
"I am losing my mind; this is the only explanation."
She fainted after hearing a loud ringing in her head, holding her head and crying out in pain.
Delilah was awakened by her Aunt's voice and opened her eyes. To see her Aunty's concerned expression over hers.
"My baby, you had me so worried, "
"Aunty?" Delilah asked, looking around to see where she was.
"Where am I?"
"In the hospital dear, when I arrived at your house, you were passed out on the floor, I was so worried, thank God you are ok." Her Aunty hugged her.
Delilah was completely baffled, scared, and worried, her mind spinning in circles.
"How long have I been out?" she moved her arm which was hooked to an Iv drip.
"It's been two days Lilah."
"No, how is that possible?"
"Your parents were so worried when they tried contacting you and you didn't return their calls so they sent me to check on you. Thank God I came to you." her aunty noticed something was off about her behavior. "Lilah, are you ok?"
Delilah gave a reassuring nod.
The door opened, and a Doctor entered. He was tall, with dark brown skin and dark hair, and his eyes were two different colors: honey brown and green.
Delilah was overcome with a strange sensation when she saw the doctor as if she knew him.
"Good Afternoon, ladies, I'm Morian, your doctor."
Delilah's Aunty smiled at him.
"How are you feeling, Miss Idiong?"
Delilah couldn't speak, she felt paralyzed.
"She seems a bit out of sorts" replied her Aunty to the doctor.
"Do you mind miss Idiong?" Morian inquired as he approached her and sat beside her on the bed.
He examined her heartbeat with his stethoscope and checked her eyes with his flashlight.
"You've been unconscious for two days, so it's a good thing you're awake now. You appear to be fine; you are just extremely stressed and overworked. "Do you remember what you were doing before you passed out?"
Delilah rubbed her eyes, trying to remember.
"I awoke that morning; I had a weird dream and there was this intense pain on my back. It was so strange because then I heard a loud ringing in my ears and then nothing, just darkness."
"Hmm, what was the dream about?"
Delilah looked at him, his gaze fixed on her as if he was expecting an answer from her.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to pry," he cleared his throat before continuing to speak.
"Well, based on the tests we conducted on you, you are in good physical condition. According to the information your Aunt provided, you are a student, so the stress of school probably got to you." He chuckled.
"I remember my college years fondly, but I don't miss them. In any case, I recommend that you take the medications that I will prescribe for you. Taking these regularly and getting plenty of rest will get you back in shape in no time. "I'll go get them and bring them to you,"
Doctor Morian stood up and handed her the paper he had written on.
