Sheng Ruxi requested a bag from the woman and carefully stowed away a portion of the cash inside. Taking only what she deemed necessary to meet her immediate needs, she left the rest behind in the safe. Carrying the bag with her newfound resources, she returned the keys to the woman and exited the bank.
Her first priority was finding a place to stay, a haven where she could gather her thoughts and rebuild her life. Sheng Ruxi sought a modest apartment rather than a lavish one. After diligently searching, she found a decent apartment in a respectable neighborhood. Making the necessary arrangements, she paid for a year's lease.
Next, she arranged for the delivery of a bed and mattress, ensuring she had a comfortable place to rest. She also acquired clothes and essential gadgets, seeking to reestablish a sense of familiarity and normalcy in her new surroundings. She didn't know if she knew how to cook and she did not want to find out so she ordered her food
As she completed her tasks, time seemed to slip away unnoticed. It was already 8:00 pm in the evening, and Sheng Ruxi found herself both physically and emotionally drained.
She took a bath and changed into her pyjamas. She was going through everything that happened today when she heard a knock on the door. Since she was feeling hungry,
Sheng Ruxi's heart raced as she swung open the door, expecting to see the food delivery person. Instead, her anticipation turned to terror as she found herself face-to-face with a sinister-looking man, his cold eyes fixed upon her. In an instant, her instincts kicked in, recognizing the imminent danger.
"I found you Jade" the man said as he pointed a gun directly at her face.
Confusion and fear mingled within her as she tried to comprehend what the man just called her. How did this man know her by a name she couldn't recall? Who was she before the amnesia? These questions flooded her mind, but the pressing threat before her demanded her immediate attention.
Trembling but determined, Sheng Ruxi attempted to remain calm. She knew that her life was in grave danger, and every decision she made could be crucial. With her heart pounding, she scanned her surroundings, searching for any potential means of escape or a chance to defend herself. Time seemed to slow as she assessed the situation, desperately plotting her next move.
Shen Ruxi slowly went back into the room with her hands up in the air
"Who are you. What do you want?" Sheng Ruxi asked calmly
The man smiled
"My identity is not your concern as for what I want, it's simple. Your dead body" the man answered.
After hearing that, Sheng Ruxi's adrenaline surged as she swiftly disarmed the man, using her reflexes and quick thinking to gain the upper hand. The element of surprise worked in her favor as she delivered a powerful kick to his stomach, causing him to recoil in pain and anger.
"B*tch" Undeterred, the man retaliated with a desperate blow, but Sheng Ruxi managed to block it, her determination fueling her every move. With a swift punch, she sent him crashing to the floor, momentarily incapacitating him.
Seizing the opportunity, Sheng Ruxi's gaze hardened as she retrieved the fallen gun from the ground. Holding it firmly, she aimed it at the man who now lay defenseless before her. Her voice, though laced with the tremor of fear, carried an underlying resolve.
"Who sent you?" she demanded, her eyes locked onto his.
The man grimaced in pain, his arrogance temporarily shattered by the unexpected turn of events. His eyes darted around the room, searching for an escape route or a glimmer of hope. Feeling the weight of the gun's barrel against his skin, he knew that his options were dwindling rapidly.
" I can't tell you," the man said
Sheng Ruxi's grip on the gun tightened as her determination solidified.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
"Miss Sheng, your delivery is here" the delivery man outside said.
Sheng Ruxi's heart pounded as she managed to regain control of the situation, clutching the gun tightly. With her senses heightened, she cautiously approached the door to collect the food delivery. However, the man inside made a sudden move, causing the food to spill onto the floor and onto her body. The pain stung, but Sheng Ruxi remained focused.
Reacting swiftly, the man advanced towards her with a knife, intent on causing harm. Drawing upon her survival instincts, Sheng Ruxi lunged for the gun she had previously dropped, her fingers wrapping firmly around its grip. Just as the man closed in on her, she fired two shots, the silenced gun muffled the sound, leaving only Sheng Ruxi to bear witness to the violent act.
The man crumpled to the floor, his threatening presence extinguished. Sheng Ruxi stood there, her body trembling with a mix of adrenaline and fear.
Taking a deep breath, Sheng Ruxi composed herself, knowing she had to act quickly. She cleaned up the spilled food, wiped away the traces of the encounter.Sheng Ruxi knew she couldn't leave the man's body in her apartment. It would only lead to more complications and potential discovery. She needed to find a way to dispose the body discreetly.
The following morning, Sheng Ruxi dressed herself and ventured out into the city. Her first destination was a car dealership. She needed a vehicle that would serve her purpose without raising suspicion. After careful consideration, she chose a sturdy SUV.
As she drove back to her apartment, her mind was filled with questions. Who was this man? Why did he call her Jade? And most importantly, why did someone want her dead?
