Chapter 8 - Rule

Crito in the middle of the garden clasps his hands together. They Light up and as his hands part the light stretches between them. He pinches the tip with his left hand and the light takes the form of an arrow. He aims upwards and the bright arrow flies to the skies above. Flora witnessing his actions seems confused. She gets a shine in her eyes and looks above to see the light fall back from the sky. "I call this technique Sun fall," Crito says with a smile before being engulfed in light.

"Master, Crito!" Flora yells, scared for Crito's safety. But as the light resides, she finds Crito completely unharmed. "Calm yourself, Flora. This was just a demonstration. Rule is about how your element affects you, and no one else. Normally your mana will not hurt you." Crito lectures

Crito makes a blade of light in his hand and brings it along his cheek giving it a small cut. Flora shudders at the sight, but Crito gives her a small reassuring smile convincing her it's fine. "if you will it. your mana can affect you." he explains.

"I never wanted to hurt myself. Why would anyone want to hurt themselves?" Flora thought but didn't say. "Allowing yourself to be hurt by your mana will normally not be efficient. but who says that's everything to rule" Crito says as his finger turns warm with a bright light that he brings along the small cut singing it shut. "By purely believing something about your mana it can have that effect on you. For another example, I would like you to make a wall of vines." Crito asks.

Flora nods and makes a wall of vines. Crito walks towards it and presses his hand against it. it's completely solid and doesn't budge at all. "good. now walk through it." Crito says much to Flora's surprise. "It's a wall" said Flora. Crito makes his wall next to it. "to me that is a wall no matter what. but to you it's wall because you see it as one." Crito lectures as he walks straight through his wall of light before dispelling it.

Flora, seeing this, takes a deep breath before she places both hands against her vines and pushes. "go trough, go trough" Flora was chanting to herself over and over, but she wasn't moving out of the spot. "Keep trying." Crito says and walks back inside. "understood," said Flora.

Leo's sitting by the window watching Flora struggling. "still sitting there?" Crito asks. "where could I go?" Leo says still just looking out the window not even glancing at Crito. Crito chuckles at the remark "Fair enough." He takes a seat in front of him.

"Why did you want to train her?" Leo asks. Crito pulls out a cigarette but this time it freezes as he tries lighting it. "I want a clear answer" Leo demands. Crito puts down the frozen cigarette with a slight annoyance. "Can't let me relax in my own house," Crito says annoyed.

"She is like you, an idiot who will lose themselves to emotions and will end up hurt!" Crito yells. "I plan on making sure she survives when she does." Leo looks surprised but averts his gaze once more. His eyes filled with sadness but worry. "Thanks for looking out for her," Leo says with his eyes focused on Flora.

"Someone has to. Since last time I checked you took her into a tournament illegally." Crito comments. Leo pull his eyes away from Flora and stares directly into Crito's eyes. "She doesn't want to talk about her past, but I've seen how she lives." Leo reminisces. "she lived in this decrepit apartment complex. She still managed to buy her favorite Crystal fruit soda."

"Let me guess, you hit on her while she was minding her own business." Crito says in a condescending voice. " I mean you're not wrong, she didn't seem to get it though. Us three just began spending time together." Leo explains. Their conversation comes to an end as Flora collapses in the garden. "Empty again. Well I'm going to make some lunch. She seem to like pasta, how about Mag stinger eye pasta?" Crito says with Leo not seeming too happy about the decision.

The training continued after lunch with Flora failing to make any progress. And once again in the darkness of the night. Lives have been taken. In an open street that seems completely unlit, the ground soaked with blood, we find Vulcan Talking in a Walky-talky. "Yeah don't worry I took out the last target. Now tell me how my siblings are." Vulcan said, clearly frustrated. The bodies of his targets all look like they have been beaten to death.

"Khuno have returned to base, Kali seem to be looking for her final target, and Helios is probably just drinking in some bar, I don't even know how far he is." Martin said, annoyed. "He is done already." Vulcan said with certainty. There has to be a limit to how much they can trust each other, Martin thought. A gun fires and Vulcan barely manages to dodge it. "Sorry, it seems like I ran into some trouble. I will take care of it and return to base." Vulcan announces before pouncing towards the gunman.
