Chereads / Only I Am The Death Lord / Chapter 19 - 19. GIVE RESPECT, TAKE RESPECT

Chapter 19 - 19. GIVE RESPECT, TAKE RESPECT

"Seems like you don't like me," Zachery peered straight into Auset's piercing blue eyes, which shone with extraordinary intelligence as well as primordial savagery.

"I wouldn't dare," Auset looked down at the ground, not daring to face Zahcery eye to eye. But he knew that this was just superficial respect that didn't come from her heart.

And her male counterpart, Helios, was also concerned since Zachery was so close to Auset.

"Well, Auset," Zachery stretched his hands as he moved away from Auset, which greatly relieved Helios. But then Zachery turned and walked back in the way he had been, ostensibly in the middle of the couple.

"You two do agree that I am your 'Grodos', right?" Zachery abruptly turned back, looking at the two, and questioned them.

Auset firmly nodded her head, but the mockery in her eyes was visible to everyone in the room. Helios had likewise, albeit hesitantly, nodded his head.

"See, all of you, I have a bare minimum standard for my army that I am envisioning for myself," Zachery now appeared to be speaking to everyone in the dark hallway, yet everyone in the gloomy hallway recognized that Zachery was exclusively speaking to the duo.

"And you, Auset, you perfectly pass," Zachery abruptly turned towards Auset and said with a sincere smile. "I have to be honest with you, you are simply perfect for the position of my right hand,"

This seemingly simple remark made the gloomy hallway more gloomier because everyone had a different expression.

Cornelius had an expression that contorted with sadness and despair as he looked at Auset.

Alenca and an expression that said 'The duck' and like a cherry on top, immense bloodlust was leaking from her.

Auset's expression was clearly one of bemusement, and her cutely scowled countenance was endearing to Zahcery's heart. He enjoyed it when he could take a bitch down a peg who thought she or he was some hot stuff.

Zachery was also satisfied when he saw the expression of everyone in the room.

'It's nice when you see your plan comes together seamlessly.' Zachery thought to himself as he looked at everyone in the room.

No matter how much anyone in the room thought, they couldn't figure out Zahceyr's intent with his choice right now.

Auset, in particular, couldn't feel his intent, no matter how good her fast-processing neurons were. Was Gathering the wrath of the Legion to her the goal of her master?

If that was the intention, her master was even dumber than she assumed. Even if she revolted, she would never consider exceeding her master's authority.

If she did, she would meet a fate worse than death. And their owner was well aware of this, indicating that he possessed a level of intelligence that was uncommon among mortals.

That was the reason why she at least feigned respect, otherwise, she and her brother would not have a bright future...

Wait! Her brother!!!

"But sadly, your brother doesn't seem to possess anything special except his seemingly endless brute strength." Zachery gradually showed a manipulative smile that mirrored the sly smile Auset had given him, sensing that Auset was catching on.

"As expected of my right hand, You are quickly catching on." Zachery nodded as he walked around the platform with an oblivious expression.

But the gloomy atmosphere changed as Alecna crackled a savage smile and Cornelius breathed a sigh of relief, understanding Zahcery's nefarious plot.

Zachery knew exactly where to target these kinds of people, and that was to rip and tear what they held dear.

When he was in Axis, Zachery was no saint; he had ripped and torn innumerable adversaries' lives for his and his team's improvement, some deserved it, and some quite didn't.

He didn't wander far from his core morals, but in a society where power reigns supreme, mortality is as arbitrary as Lady Death.

Coming to the present situation, Auset's face paled as he understood the intent of Zachery.

"I am incredibly sorry, Helios, but do not fret! Because you will fight for the name and glory of my Legion!!" Alecna snickered and Cornelius just shook his head with pity.

Auset panicked as her superior brain failed to come up with a solution.

She had underestimated her foe, so she had to pay the price for it.

Fighting for honor and glory was only a beautiful pretext for her master's manner of asking her brother to go and die.

She knew where her master's destination was and what his goal was because it was set by her previous master.

And in their current state, they would be as weak as hell when they descended onto the Axis. If her brother was sent to the frontlines in his frail state, death was the only thing that would await him.

She had just intended to remind her master that she and her brother were still the stronger ones since her previous master's abuse had left a scar in their minds.

But now, it had drawn her fickle master's ire and she was completely trapped like a dove trapped in a cage.

"Now that the important issues are dealt with, let's get to the main point of why I came here." Zachery glanced at the twitching but mostly quiet Helios. His thought process was more straightforward.

Which was easy to manipulate, Zachery noted

If his sacrifice meant that his sister's position would be elevated, he was even more eager to die.

Zachery shook his head as he followed the frightened Auset and softly smiling Helios into the hall, which was surrounded by several exquisite drawings of events Zachery had no knowledge of.

But when he peered down the hall, everything else faded away as his gaze was drawn to two intricately formed metal balls.

'Inheritance!'
