Several Lords grew to prominence while they fought Dimensional Beigns and Neighbouring Natives. When Zachery joined The Axis, fellow natives had a choice between two routes.
The Route of Lords was one route that was highly desired by the natives, but there were heavy prerequisites to meet. After all, not everyone was entitled to authority.
The other path was the Hunters' path. They were comparable to the typical Adventurers in fantasy, although they had a more open growth route to follow.
But the Mother System's technology, which was embedded in each of its dwellers, was the major source of strength for Hunters. It was a chip that would allow even the weakest to go up the ranks more quickly and efficiently.
And the question as to what this nano chip was used for?
You kill someone, extract their energy, and integrate it into your own body.
The inefficient cost ratio to the way to power was the reason Zachery didn't get much stronger. His body had some condition about rejecting foreign bloodlines or mutant organs that was 'weak in nature'.
And Zachery didn't have the luxury of purchasing any 'OP' bloodline or organs because each of them was priced through the roof, and Zachery's budget didn't have wings to soar with it.
Zachery's growth had been hindered as a result, and he had never risen through the ranks compared to his first rise.
But Zachery had a good head on his shoulders, so he developed a successful mercenary company via hard labor, blood, sweat, and tears. Zachery and his squads embarked on many missions and became one of the most prominent in the bottom rungs of "society."
"Edda, let's watch something together. Say, what do you want to watch?" Zachery asked as he brought her close to him.
Edda stared at her father dumbly for a few seconds before responding quickly, as if she was scared Zachery might retract her remarks. "Oh, I know, let's watch baseball!" With her innocent eyes shining with astonishment, she said.
"...Sigh, Edda, you don't have to worry about what I think, just watch what you like," Zachery brushed her hair again as he handed Edda the TV remote, and she just stared at the empty screen.
Edda appeared suspicious at first but yielded after turning on the TV and selecting a random cartoon.
'Her birthday comes first, but only after I figure out what this purported 'Inheritance' is,' Zachery thought to himself as he mentally called out Alexa.
[Still here!] The overly excited voice greeted Zachery in his mind.
'You still here?' Zachery responded with a sardonic tone that dampened Alexa's joy.
[Humph] Alexa pouted while remaining mute. 'So, where is this claimed inheritance?' Zachery remarked quietly to himself while he watched TV with Edda. Edda was watching a cartoon in which five women acted as agents invading a facility.
[Wait a second, it's in its finishing touches.] Alexa grumbled as she guided the Inheritance to solidify and stabilize inside Zachery.
Zachery paused for a moment after seeing the cartoon with Edda, who was continually fidgeting due to his father's increasing closeness. But, because she was still a child, she soon shifted her focus to the cartoon and forgot about her father.
[Everything is finished, Zach! You know the magic words!] Alexa virtually screamed inside Zahcery's head moments later, making him wince. Noting in his mind to have a deep talk with Alexa about the seriousness of noise pollution, he said the 'magical words'.
