"It's Marco. What's going on?"
"I'm Jean, in charge of recruiting commander-level crew. We're in serious trouble here..."
The Den-Den Mushi transmission was cut off. When Marco heard the word "trouble" the call seemed to be disconnected, leaving him feeling anxious.
"Jean! Have you faced the Marines? Don't face them directly. Retreat and get out of there!"
Marco urgently shouted through the Den-Den Mushi.
The other Commanders nearby heard the conversation and felt a bit worried, but nobody interrupted Marco.
"Jean, can you hear me?"
Marco shouted, sounding anxious.
"It's not the Marines. There's only one person there, and he's really strong. We might not be able to get back."
Jean continued speaking, but that was the last thing he said. After that, Jean Den-Den Mushi disconnect
"Jean and his team are in trouble,"
Marco said solemnly to the others after he put away the Den-Den Mushi.
"I'll go check"
Jinbei volunteered first. He can travel fast in the sea.
"No, I'll go myself!"
Marco said seriously. He felt that whoever Jean encountered wasn't simple. If Jean was still alive, Marco could treat him.
Marco intended to leave immediately to support Jean in the dangerous situation, but Benjamin stopped him.
"Marco, you can't go. We don't know how long it'll take to reach Jean now. It's too late. I think we should report to Oyaji before deciding,"
Benjamin said.
"That'll waste too much time,"
Marco said anxiously.
"Marco, I think Benjamin's right. Even if you rush there now, it might be too late to stop whatever's happening to Jean. You might even end up in danger"
Tesla added.
With everyone's persuasion, Marco had to stay and report the incident to Whitebeard, who was also curious after hearing about it.
"Who's attacking us right now?"
Whitebeard couldn't think of anyone who would challenge him for a while. Jean wasn't very strong, maybe just at the squad leader level, but he still led a team.
If one person poses a serious threat, they should at least be close to Shichibukai strength. In the New World, there are many monsters of Shichibukai level, so Whitebeard can't judge who it is.
"This person is probably acting independently, not part of any force"
Jinbei analyzed. As a former fishman guard captain, he understood this well. If he had any influence, he wouldn't offend Whitebeard so openly.
With Whitebeard currently recruiting commanders, this action of provocation is like a declaration of war. Isn't this just inviting trouble and risking his own power?
So Jinbei can't understand this behavior. He thinks the best explanation is that the person doesn't belong to any faction and isn't even involved in relevant interests.
"Marco, you can take your crew and handle this yourself,"
Whitebeard said. Marco was a little surprised; he didn't expect his team, numbering in the hundreds, to be necessary for this task.
"Oyaji, is it really worth fighting over?"
Marco asked.
"Go ahead. If it comes to a fight, it won't end well,"
Whitebeard urged. He wasn't making a fuss, just making it clear that if anyone harmed Whitebeard Pirates, they'd face consequences from him as well.
Marco quickly gathered his crew and set off.
Meanwhile, in the sea area where Jean was assigned to, his entire team lay on the ground, surrounded by signs of electric shock.
There was only one figure at the scene—a man wearing a white turban with long earlobes and earrings.
The man was shirtless, with four drums behind him. He wore bloomers and was barefoot, floating a few meters above the ground.
The man's wrists still crackled with blue thunder, holding the Whitebeard Pirates' emblem in his hand, his eyes blazing with intensity.
"Whitebeard, did you send me a message? I want to see what you're capable of."
When Marco reached the area where Jean was, he happened to pass through Cake Island's range. Marco didn't want to waste time there, but Katakuri took the initiative to greet him.
After hearing about Marco, Katakuri offered his help and boarded Marco's ship with his sister, Brule.
"It's unbelievable that someone dared to provoke Oyaji!"
Katakuri expressed, still baffled by the situation.
After all, those who dare to do this either have absolute confidence in their strength and can defeat Whitebeard, but that possibility is too small.
Although there are many powerful individuals in the New World, Katakuri feels it's impossible to match Whitebeard's strength unless one is very confident.
Katakuri thinks only fools would do this, but either way, this incident will cause shock, and he can't wait to see who's so bold.
After a while sailing, Marco and his crew arrived in the area where Jean was supposed to be. They began searching and finally found them in a remote clearing.
"It's Jean and his team!"
Marco shouted and flew over immediately. After checking, Marco found that Jean was still alive.
So Marco went all out to treat Jean. He covered his body with his phoenix flame. After inspecting the other crew members, Katakuri and the others found that most of them were seriously injured, with only a few fatalities.
"It seems the other party didn't want to kill them,"
Katakuri analyzed. He looked at the surrounding traces and judged that the opponent's strength was very strong. If he intended to kill, there wouldn't be so many survivors.
"You take care of them first. I'll take a look around,"
Marco said. He flew up into the sky and began to patrol the area.
Marco searched for clues but found no other figures around. The scene was mostly marked with traces of lightning strikes.
"The enemy must be a Devil Fruit user, probably with a Thunder Fruit"
Marco analyzed.
