Chandler opened the door of Joe's pub slowly as he walked in and scanned everyone inside, he was looking for Brian and the guys. He saw Brian sitting in a corner alone with a drink and he smiled as he watched Chandler walk towards him, he was not smiling back because he was here for serious business.
"So are you ready to complete what we started the other night or your dad will interrupt again?" Brian asked as he smirked at Chandler who was standing right in front of him now, Chandler sat down and he sighed.
"I have a lot of questions," Chandler replied as he stared directly into Brian's eyeballs, the both of them well not blinking but it was getting weird so Brian spoke.
"You must have questions about all these, I'm sure your parents don't want to let you know the truth."
"They already told me everything, I have questions about you and your friends. My parents think that you guys are dangerous and might be the ones that are responsible for all the killings."
Brian laughed as he drank from the mug that was on the table in front of him where he rested his arm, he stopped laughing as he looked at Chandler who was not feeling amused.
"They think we are the ones that are responsible for the werewolves' attacks?"
"Yes of course, you guys are the only wolf here in this town apart from my dad and me so I'm sure it isn't him."
"It's obvious that there is another werewolf then," Brian replied.
"And I should believe you, why?"
"We were sent here for two reasons; to identify the werewolf that's behind all these killings and to keep an eye on you."
"Keep an eye on me, why?" Chandler inquired.
"Well, everyone is still worried about the curse."
"Which curse?" Chandler asked, his expression showed that he was confused and he looked at Brian as he waited for an answer immediately but he was just giggling.
"So you don't know about the curse, I thought that they have told you everything? I bet you still think that you're their kid." Brian grinned as he shook his head in disappointment sarcastically.
Chandler could feel chills on his spine when he heard what Brian said about him being the real child of people he knew as his parents since he could remember, he was not feeling okay with that and Brian could tell by his face that he was really confused and frustrated.
"Oh, you think so?" Brian chuckled.
"What do you mean? They are my real parents of course."
"Yeah, sure. Whatever you say." Brian replied as he stood up and drank the last content in his mug and dropped it on the table he tries to leave but was held back by Chandler.
"I still have one question; Why did you attack my dad that night?"
"If I didn't do you think he would have told you some of the things they've told you right now?"
Chandler heaved a sigh of relief as he left Brian and watched him walk away, he was right because Chandler could tell that his parents never planned to tell him about all these if that night did not happen. Even now, he could feel that they were more than they were not even telling him yet so he finds it difficult to trust them now but he still plans to confront them about all these he just heard from Brian.
Chandler got home, and he saw his father's truck parked in front of their house so which means that his father is inside and his mother too because she was not working today. Chandler went in to see them watching the TV together in the living room giggling and cuddling together.
"Where have you been? I've been hearing barking from the garage." Mr. Beckham as Chandler opened the door and walked in.
This was the first time that Chandler left the dogs in the garage alone and went away for that long, he had nothing else he did so he was always around but he is occupied by the new developments in his life. He does not care about the dogs as he used to when he first started, he does not care about a lot of things at the moment but the only thing that has not changed was his feelings for Alice. He apologized for disappointing her the night that they were both supposed to go to the movies. he lied to her that he was taking one of his client's dog home.
"I went to see Brian," Chandler responded and the mood in the room changed, Mr. Beckham sat up furiously.
"Brian? The same Brian that I told you to never see again, that Brian?"
"Yeah, he said that they were not responsible for the killings." Chandler ignored his father's rhetorical questions.
"And of course, you believe him."
"Well, he said a lot of things like the curse that I don't know about and the fact that you guys are not even my parents."
Mr. Beckham was calm, he was not shouting again but right now he was dumbfounded as he looked at his wife who was sitting down watching them too. The whole atmosphere of the room changed again, it was awkwardly quiet for a moment and Chandler does not need them to say it again because the silence means that Brian was right.
"I'll take that as a yes," Chandler stated as turned around to walk away, his mother called him and he stopped but he still had his back turned.
"Please, come and sit down." Tracy pleaded.
She has always had a way to reach him since he was a kid, Chandler could not ignore her no matter how furious he was right now. He sighed as he murmured and turned around as he walked towards her reluctantly and sat on the hand of the sofa that she was sitting on. Mr. Beckham sat down too, he was mute and angry that all their secrets were coming out but he was not angry at Chandler anymore. He could be angry only at Brian and his cohorts with anyone that was behind them because he knew that they were too young to know about these old secrets.
"Yes, you're not our kid biologically."
The words echoed inside Chandler's head as he heard it from his mother, he knew that already but hearing it from her was more heartbreaking because he thought about all these years and they have been hiding this from him, he was furious but there was nothing he could do but gnash his teeth in anger.
"But we love you like our own kid and you know that," Tracy added, Chandler was not ready to hear that even though he knows she was right because they have always treated him like he was their biological son so he has never had any doubt about them not being his biological parents.
"Where are my real parents?" That was the first question that Chandler had.
Tracy looked at her husband, they were not sure if Chandler was ready for the answer but they had no other options and it was not like Chandler was still a kid anymore.
"Your parents are dead," Tracy responded Chandler was quiet but he did not feel anything for people he did not know.
"So how did I end up with you guys?" Chandler asked.
"Your mother was my best friend, it's a long story," Tracy replied.
"Well..." Chandler said as he sat down well on the sofa ready to hear the full story.
Tracy cleared her throat, she knew this day would come because she knows that no matter how fast and far they tried to run, their past will still catch up with them. This is the time to let Chandler know about everything there is to know about his past and the werewolf world because no matter how bad they don't want him in it, it would not work.
"Your mother's name was Beatrice, she was a witch?" Tracy started but maybe that was the wrong way to start because Chandler was confused already.
"Witch?" He asked.
"Not a bad one, she has magic but we call them witches," Tracy explained.
"Okay, so how did she die?"
"Your father killed her, he was a werewolf and she killed him too but she died of the injury she sustained during their fight," Tracy said and was trying to understand how messed up was, he waited to hear more from Tracy to know if it was an accident.
"Werewolves have always been hunted by werewolf hunters, the hunters are just mere humans that hate the idea of werewolves and are always called werewolves freaks of nature. The werewolf hunters kill werewolves with the help of the witches and that is why the werewolves hate the witches." Tracy explained further.
"So my father killed my mother because she was a witch and he was a werewolf?" Chandler was still finding that hard to believe.
"It was more than that. A year before you were born, werewolves decided to go on a war against the witches and kill anyone they meet. Some good witches do not help the hunters like your mother but the werewolves did not care so they were ready to kill anyone that was a witch. Your father and your mother were not in love, he was just a werewolf that wanted to kill your mother but..." Tracy paused, the next sentence was hard for her to say and her husband knew that.
"Your father saw how beautiful your mother was so he forced himself on her before he could kill her, she managed to escape that time." Mr. Beckham helped his wife.
"After a few weeks, your mother told me that she was pregnant and she did not want to abort it because it was still her child but she hated the fact that your father was a loser so instead of killing you she went to Mount Hague a few months before you were born," Tracy added
"Mount Hague?" Chandler was confused about what the mountain was about.
"Yeah it is a mountain where the witches draw their power from, instead of killing you she cursed you to be the doom of the werewolves. It was a powerful curse quite unbreakable." Tracy said as he looked at Chandler, he was not looking up, his face was down.
"She told m about what she did and I pleaded with her every day to reverse it but she said she couldn't even if she wanted to," Tracy added
"So I am the doom of all the werewolves?" Chandler asked
"Not really. A day after you were born, news got out to the werewolves about what she did and they discovered the hideout where I was hiding your mother all these while and your father was among the werewolves that came. Your mother managed to kill him that day and injured many werewolves as we escaped but your mother sustained a lot of injury from when she fought with your father. Right before the moment that she gave up the ghost, she said she was wrong about the curse and that she knew that there were good werewolves out there but she let her anger take over her decision. She wanted to break the curse but she could not so she neutralized it to some extent"
"How do you mean?" Chandler was inquisitive.
"Since she already cursed you, she blessed you too. She said that you would either be the doom or savior of the werewolves, the one that will make the humans love and accept werewolves so it's all in your hands."
Chandler was quiet for a minute, this was too much for him. Just a few weeks ago he had no idea that he was a werewolf but now he just discovered that he was not just a werewolf but was cursed to save the whole werewolf or doom them all, his father and mother practically killed themselves. He heaved a sigh of relief, all this was awkward because he has always believed that his family was simple and small and he loved it like that but all that was just a lie.
"That's...that's a lot" Chandler stuttered.
Tracy moved closer to Chandler, she held his hands firmly to comfort him because they did not expect him to take all these in so easily or lightly.
"This is why we didn't want to tell you about all these, it's a lot for you and we don't want you to carry that burden. We don't want you to live knowing that you have the future of all werewolves resting on your shoulders." Tracy said in a low tone as Chandler turned to look at her.
Chandler could not deny the fact he wish he could forget about all these and go back to the day when he had no idea that werewolves were a real thing, he would not allow Brian and his guys to enter his garage that first day if he could go back in time. Chandler understood why his parents lied to him since his life but he does not want them to feel like it was too much for him, he knows he has to man up and take it like a man.
"I want to break my seal," Chandler stated as he looked at his parents and he could tell by their expression that they were not expecting him to say that.
"Are you sure that that's what you want?" Mr. Beckham asked with a concerned tone, he wanted to be sure that Chandler was thinking it through.
"Yes. I know you all think that it would be safer if I did not crack my seal but it would be safer if I crack my seal and learn all I need to learn about being a werewolf so I will know how to fulfill my destiny." Chandler stated.
Mr. Beckham exhaled as he gazed at Chandler for a moment before he then gazed at Tracy who was astounded too, Mr. Beckham did not want Chandler to break his seal but that was not his decision to make because if Chandler wants it then he has to help him.
"You have to think about this son, we can't do the ritual until the next full moon so you have a few days to think about this." Mr. Beckham said as Chandler nodded.
"Nothing to think about really because I want this," Chandler responded.
Mr. Beckham exhaled as he looked at his wife she was not talking so he kept quiet as he looked up and then looked at Chandler.
"Brian said that they were sent to keep an eye on you and find out who was responsible for the werewolves' attacks right?" Mr. Beckham asked and Chandler nodded, he was about to say something but Chandler interrupted before he could even open his mouth to say anything.
"But coming to think of it, I did not ask him who sent them."
"The Entities" Tracy replied sharply.
"The entities?" Chandler was confused.
"Yeah, they're the werewolves' government." Mr. Beckham explained.
"So we have our government?" Chandler giggled.
"Yeah they're the ones that say what will happen and anyone that does not obey them turns to a rebel." Mr. Beckham added.
"Were they the ones that wanted me dead?"
"Yeah, they felt that you were a threat to the werewolf community."
"But you guys did not agree with them so you guys are rebels?" Chandler asked as he looked at his parents, he did not see them as people who could be renegades that could go against powerful people like the people that act as the government of the werewolves.
"Yeah, we were but we convinced them that you could also save the werewolf's fate and they agreed to let you live but they did not like the idea of you cracking your seal just to be safe." Mr. Beckham stated.
"So why would they want Brian and his friends to help me crack the seal now?" Chandler asked, he was starting to catch on now about everything.
"That's what I intend to find out. I think there is so much in play that we don't know yet." Mr. Beckham responded
Tracy have been unnaturally quiet for a while now, she was worried about everything. She just wanted Chandler to grow up as a normal kid, she has seen how violent and brutal werewolves could be and she does not want that life for Chandler. She could not help it now that Chandler knows everything and still wants to crack his seal, Tracy could foresee Chandler with his father in the garage trying to teach him controls after his seal gets broken. The first few weeks are the hardest because their sense of smell, sight, feelings, and even their strength would be heightened. It would be hard to process that and in that confusion, some tend to hunt down humans or large wild animals to hunt down.
"Are you okay?" Mr. Beckham asked his wife, he noticed that she was not talking for a while now.
"Yeah." She muttered as she looked at Chandler who has his eyes on her already.
"Promise me you won't kill anyone, son." Tracy was looking at Chandler as she waited for him to respond.
Chandler thought the question was weird and uncalled for but Mr. Beckham understood why she would ask for that because she had seen many people turn into savage animals after their seals got broken but he would make sure that the kids don't turn out to be like that because they would be there with him to make sure that he goes through the process and come out sane and okay.
"Mum, are you scared that I might turn to be like that monster killing people in this town?" Chandler asked
"I need you to promise me that you won't"
"Okay, I promise," Chandler assured her.
They were all quiet after Chandler promised and Tracy smiled with a nod, that was when they could all hear the TV sound because they were so occupied with their discussions that they forgot that the TV was not switched off but none of them was interested in anything it was showing. The sounds coming from the TV that hung on the wall were the only sound you could hear in the living room, Mr. Beckham and his wife were trying to focus on what they were showing on the TV but Chandler could not because he was excited. He always felt that he was made for something bigger but not this big, he was processing all they just told him in one night. Whenever he remembers that he was the future of the whole werewolves, his heart sinks, he has to be brave but he has no idea of what he should be brave about. He does not know what to do that could destroy the werewolves or help them, he does not want to think deeply about all that for now. All he wants to think about now is what it would feel like the moment he has his seal broken, he was about to ask his father how it felt but he stopped and decided not to. He decides to just wait and see what it's like, he does not know when the next full moon was but he wished that it would come quickly.
