CHAPTER 1
System
Inside the rubble of a building, A boy hid inside. He was skinny and looked like he had been through hell.
This boy was Henry Parker, he had managed to escape when the Scarlax, a bio-mechanical insect race which invaded earth over 300 of years ago, attacked the shelter they leaved in. they had requested for assistance from the Union, but they never got any. Obviously the union did not think they were worth saving.
It had been days since he was hiding, he was going crazy with hunger. Henry prayed earnestly for a miracle to somehow come, if there was really a God or any celestial being. There were times when scarlax soldiers would come around where he was, at those time he wouldn't even dare to breath, for fear of being discovered. He was lucky that no scarlax with special tech tracking and seeking abilities came around.
It was around noon. Henry heard sounds coming close to his direction, when he looked he saw a group of Highly armored trucks passing at high speeds. These were the types of trucks the union used to send resources to army camps that were at frontlines constantly fighting the scarlax. The Union was not too disturbed by groups of scarlax that were in its borders, they were not strong enough for the union to turn its head to. The frontlines where their main concerns, the borders of the union were one the last place humans lived in, the location of the union was the former location of the United states years ago. Though it looked nothing like it, as the brutal war caused changes to even the planet, over the years the scarlax reconstructed all land forms to fit them, even some water bodies disappeared, they were slowly turning the planet into a habitat for them.
Henry decided to take the opportunity, he got up dashed towards the incoming trucks with his last energy. Some scarlax who were waiting for the trucks to get close so they could attack it turned their attention to Henry. Henry ran with everything he had; he soon noticed a group of ant type scarlax were chasing at him.
Henry was putting his trust in getting to the truck and getting their attention. He ran till he was close to the truck convoy.
"HELP, HELP, HELP" Henry was screaming and waving his hands till he got infront of the truck, but to his surprise, the first truck sped up as if to hit Henry, Henry dived out of the way at the last moment. When he got up he looked at the convoy that was already far away, he began to cry and was about to fall on his knees, when he felt something go through his chest.
The group of ant type scarlax that were chasing him had caught up to him, and one of them immediately stabbed Henry in the heart with one of his metallic leg.
****
In the first truck that led the convoy that left Henry behind. A burly looking man was sitting in the driver seat, he wore a black uniform with the union's symbol on his left shoulder. Beside him on the other seat was a smaller looking man in the same type of uniform, he was watching their surroundings on the screen installed on the truck dashboard.
"Did we really have to leave that kid out there?" The smaller man looked at the driving man as he asked.
"I'm just saying we could have probably helped that kid out, he is probably dead now, and we could have helped him" The smaller guy looked back at the screen as he spoke.
"HMM, we don't have time to waste on community service, our orders are to deliver what are in these trucks not play charity" The burly guy said with no emotions on his face or in his voice.
"Then what is the point of all this, why are we fighting if we still let people die right infront of us. That boy probably had his trust in the Union, but we crushed it by letting him die." The smaller man spoke with sadness in his voice.
"Do you know the key thing in all we have said just now? The boy is dead now, so arguing is pointless, let's just drop it and complete the mission." The driving man said.
The other man only sighed and continued with his duty.
***
The Scarlax that had Stabbed henry was now dragging his body. The scarlax got to a heap of human corpses, he threw Henry's body on the pile and left.
Henry stared up at the sky as his consciousness was fading. He took his last breath and was about to fall into the depts of the abyss, when
[Activating Life Steal]
Henry saw a blue screen infront of his eyes and a message on it. His body began absorbing something from all the corpses under him. Henry was shocked, but he could not control what was happening, so he let it do what it was doing, he was dying already so there was harm.
Soon Henry's wound began closing up at a visible rate. Henry watched with astonishment, was he hallucinating because he was dying?
The wound healed up as if there was nothing there before, also Henry seemed to have gotten energy from the process. He got up quickly for the corpses that where there. When he looked at the corpses, they had all dried up, whatever his body did was what caused this. Henry wanted to observe the corpse a little closer, but a new message came in
[congratulations to User for activating the Necromancy System,]
Henry knew what Necromancy was, it was magic that manipulated death.
"But magic does not exi--- "
Henry wanted to say magic did not exist, but he thought about how the world was currently, and the fact that there was a screen floating in front of his eyes.
"Well when you think of it, magic doesn't seem impossible."
"Now how do I use this thing"
As if to answer his question, the screen changed its display. On the new display, Henry saw some horizontal bars with words on them, some were dim while others were bright.
"Open stats"
Henry asked for the first thing on the list to be opened.
[STATS]

Henry read through the stats, an in honesty he was confused.
"What is Meta Gene and title?"
[This what is used to cast meta abilities. You have not awakened any meta abilities, hence the Zero]
[Titles are gained when you complete a hidden requirement, titles provide buffs that will be helpful to you]
Henry understood the systems explanation, but that also allowed him to know that the systems power was not Meta based.
"Ok, then what is Mana?"
[This is what you will use to control your magic skills]
The response allowed him conclude that the system used magic not Meta abilities.
"Is One thousand a high mana amount?"
[if converted to meta gene, that would be 100 meta gene, the average human has 100 when they awaken]
"Whoa, that means I have much more than I am supposed to, why is that?"
[Necromancers require huge amounts of mana to control their summons and other spells]
"Oh, so it's like that, well that makes sense."
"Can you just explain everything on the stats?"
[system points are what you use to purchase from the shop function, there other methods of buying as well. The shop will activate at Level ten]
[Bone fiend: This is a skill that summons skeletal warriors to fight for you. Current summon amount : 3, mana cost : 10 mana points per minute for each one. Individual summoning cost: 30 mana, Group summoning cost : 50 mana points. Skills: Sword fighting, bone projectiles]
[Life steal takes the last spark of life in a corpse to heal your wounds and refill mana. There is a high possibility of gaining stat points from the corpses.]
They system seemed to have assumed that Henry knew what the other stats were about, so it only explained the system Points and the skills. Henry was a bit bummed that the shop function was close, he wanted to see all he could buy from there. He recognized Life steal, it as the skill that saved him, the system must have activated it to save him. As for the bone fiend, this was the one he was excited for the most.
"summon all bone fiends"
As soon as he gave out the instruction, bone hands shot out of the ground, soon the skeletons pulled themselves out of the ground, each of them was holding a bony sword.
