CHAPTER 3
Town
Henry had covered quite a distance, though he had to make few stops to rest. He kept his guard up as he moved, he did not unsummon his bone fiends, though they were consuming mana. Henry could not take the risk of unsummoning them, because if he was attacked, he would not be able to summon them fast enough to protect him.
He kept running in the direction that the truck convoy came from. His mana was less than half, he hoped that he would reach the town before it ran out or he would have to complete the journey by himself. He had thought of unsummoning one or two bone fiends to save himself mana, but he decided against it.
As henry moved, he saw a shadow pass below them to the front, when he looked up he saw a scarlax, and it was a grass hopper type. The scarlax landed in front of Henry, and as soon as he did, the three fiends had taken battle formation.
Henry thought of how amazing it was that the fiends could make awesome battle choices, form formations to attack patterns. The scarlax had a mechanical hind leg, the rest of it was organic
The Scarlax seemed to not be interested in the bone fiends, but rather it wanted henry. The scarlax attempted to jump over the fiends, but as soon as it lifted up, one of the fiends dropped its sword and set his hands for the others to jump from. The first bone fiend ran and stepped on the hand, he jumped at the same time the hand lifted him, the second Bone fiend also ran to take his turn.
The scarlax was shocked by the incoming bone fiend, his trajectory was already set and altering it would be almost be difficult. He opened his wings and forcefully changed his trajectory, causing the first bone fiend to miss his strike. The Scarlax managed to dodge the attack, but the second bone fiend had reached its height. The scarlax was not expecting the second bone fiend to have jumped as well, so he did not have a way to escape. The bone fiend made a downward slash, the sword broke through the exoskeleton of the back, and dug deep into the back of the scarlax, spaying purple blood in all directions. The force sent it down wards with much force, but the bone fiend on the ground was not going to let it land peacefully, as it swung its blade upwards with all its strength. The sword cut through the underbelly of the abdomen, completing the wound that had been created from the top of its body. The scarlax spilt in two parts, causing a rain of blood.

Henry had finally reached level two, and it increased his summoning amount as well.
He wanted to quickly check his stats to see what changed after his level up, but another message came in.

Summon storage
路 You can now keep your summons inside the summon storage, they will be no consumption of mana when they are in the summon storage. Summons will retain Exp gained the gained if they are kept in the summon storage, but they will lose it if unsummoned. Current capacity 5.
Henry thanked his stars that he refused to unsummon his bone fiends. He quickly used life steal on the grass hopper.

"Yes, a stat point, finally" henry quickly put the metal part of the scarlax in his inventory, then called up his stats

Henry read his stats slowly to not miss anything. The required Exp to level up had just increased to 200, his HP had risen as which was a good thing. His mana had risen by 100 after he leveled up, the four was from core of the two scarlaxes he killed, his mana had also refilled after his level up. When he got to stat points he wanted to scream.
"How can I get only one after I leveled up"
The other two stat points came from life steal, but he only got 1 when he leveled up. He calmed down after some seconds, and decided to assign his stat points. He put two in strength and one in speed after some thought.

Henry felt a slight change to his body, but nothing too much. He dug out the core from the shriveled-up head, after that he was set to keep moving.
Henry decided not to summon his new bone fiend yet, so he left only the first three outside. Henry continued in his set direction. After a while no Scarlax showed up, so he stored his bone fiends in the summon storage.
[Daily task completed. Gained 5 Exp]
"So, I have covered 1km already, well I have been moving for a while now."
Along the way he found two Scarlax ants together.
"Bullseye"
But before he could even bring out his bone fiends, one of the scarlax ants gave out a cry for backup.
"Kyaaaaaaaaaaaaack"
"Shit, Shit"
Henry quickly brought out his fiends. Two fiends focused on killing one ant, while the last fiend held the second fiend back until the first one was killed.

Henry was happy at the completed mission, he wanted to check it out, but then the ground began rumbling.
"Shit, that was fast"
About thirty scarlax ants came out into view from different angles. Henry quickly put they corpses into his inventory. He left the fiends outside for protection, incase a scarlax got to him.
The bone fiends were prioritizing creating an opening rather than killing scarlax. Any scarlax that got within range, was attacked by the bone fiends, not to kill but to get it out of the way for Henry to move.
They process continued till Henry saw the walls of a town.
"Finally"
Henry sped up, with his last energy. The scarlax where some distance behind him. He wanted to get into the town, so as to get rid of the scarlax.
When Henry was within a 300-meter range to the wall, he heard a whirring sound. Bullets fired from the top of the town wall passed over his head, straight into the scarlax ants, killing every one of them.
Henry was tempted to use life steal on all the ants laying at his feet, but he decided against it, if they could kill them from that distance, that meant that they could see him. Henry was still not going to let such a haul pass him by, he had heard of devices that could store lots of things, so he hoped whomever saw what he was about to do would take it that he had a storage device.
Henry activated inventory and sucked all thirty or so corpses in. When he was done he moved towards the location of the gate. There were some people going in and out of the town, most carried weapons on them, maybe they were mercenaries or something. Henry had tied his bone sword to his waist, instead of putting it in the inventory, only he knew the reason for that.
He walked up to the gat, luckily there was no requirements to enter. The town was a trade town, so it served as a cross points for all types of people.
Henry walked through the streets as he looked at all the stuffs on display, from gadgets, to armors, to weapons and food. As soon as Henry reached the food stand areas, he nearly salivated, he got energy from life steal, but that could not still cancel out the hunger he felt.
"Hay You There" A deep croaky voice called out to Henry.
Henry turned around to see a huge man of about six feet tall, standing a distance away from Henry. The man was putting on incomplete shabby armor set, his armor was sleeveless, and he did not hold any weapon.
"That thing you got tied to your waist looks kind of precious, you should not be walking around with precious stuff kid, let me keep hold of it for you." The man said while pointing at Henry's bone sword.
