Have you finally calmed down? bending down to sit beside me, a light curiousity could be felt from her beautiful voice.
Yeah, awkwardly I replied. It was my first time anyone had genuinely asked me such a question and patiently waited for my reply.
So how did you get down here? I got here as I was fighting a manticore to death and died and .... blah.. blah.. blah. yeah she was a huge chatterbox. All that she said went from my one ear to the other.
It was a feeling Emily had long forgotten. Feelings which she promised to never awake started to slowly fill her head like the slow rising of water. Slowly but steadily immersing her in deep memories. Lily of the book reminded her of Lily of the past. The one who was the pure, kind and capable sister who was mother's favourite.
Hey so what's your name? I figured I never asked. By the way I am Lily. Lily Thompson. She extended her arm as a sort of greeting or more like saying 'looked forward to working with you'.
I took hold of her extended arm and said while smiling warmly I am Emily. Not that I could see her or any expression she makes just in case she could see me as she was used to the darkness I gave it my very best to make the most warm and innocent smile.
You have a beautiful smile. Unknowingly Lily had said these words but in a low voice. Normally people wouldn't have heard her say this but due to Emily continuously living in the mansion while living as a dead person as a form of survival tactic she had excellent hearing.
How did you get her? quickly changing the subject she asked. I um actually don't know. Emily's reply suddenly brought in a sense of suspicion in Lily's heart. To be exact..
Emily continued knowing that lying here would only bring the worst of what to come.
I am the author of the book 'White Lily' and you are the main character in the story I wrote and as I fell asleep and woke up I was already here. I don't know why maybe due to embarrassment I shouted the last part and still I could hear the echoes. I didn't have to see to know the baffled look on Lily as she would have though how great of a toll the darkness would have taken on me.
Suddenly a warm hand patted me on the back without saying anything. Even a thousand words could be conveyed by a simple gesture. I could feel her consoling me by telling me it was okay and we would surely find a way out of this hellhole.
