For the past three days, Ling Xunyi stayed at Deming's home. Today, she went to her old house and all she could think of was her memory with Bolin. Deming's mother, Yuyue, was with her as they looked around to see if there were other important things to take. Yuyue was waiting in the living room while Xunyi took her time to say goodbye. Everything felt surreal to her. A few weeks ago, they were holding hands at a park and the next, he did something so unimaginable to her. Xunyi slowly accepted her reality, it was over for them. There was no going back.
Xunyi packed all of her necessities and then turned off all of the lights before they left the house. Yuyue gently smiled and then asked her, "Xunyi, are you sure you don't want the house anymore?" Xunyi shook her head, "Even though this house belonged to my parents, everything reminded me of Bolin. I want to get rid of his memory."
"Auntie, if you know anyone who can help me sell this house, please let me know. And, thanks for your hospitality. I cannot stay at your place for a long period of time. I'll stay with my grandparents for the time being." Xunyi replied.
"If it's too far, you can live with us. We have room for one more person." Yuyue gently placed her pale-white slender hand on Xunyi's shoulder, "We won't force you. Here is my number if you need anything. But, are you going to say farewell to my son? He was very worried about you." Xunyi was about to reply when a black Mercedes- Benz SUV stopped in front of them. Xunyi saw Deming with a black trenchcoat, a white collared shirt, and black trousers. She didn't know why her heart suddenly raced rapidly.
"Oh, my son! We were just talking about you. Miss. Xunyi will leave us this afternoon. Are you going to say bye to her?" Yuyue grabbed her son's hand and dragged him to speak with Xunyi. Deming looked annoyed and shook his head. He looked at Xunyi and asked, "Are you really leaving us?"
Xunyi nodded, "In a few minutes."
"How about school?" He asked.
"I'll write the GED instead so I probably won't come back here." Xunyi checked her watch and then looked at Deming, "I have to leave soon. Do you have anything else to say to me?" Deming took out an envelope and said, "This is for you to decide. Let me know if you are interested. My contact information is written down for you. As for your case, do you really want me to stop investigating?" Xunyi nodded, "It's for the better. I don't want to bother you with my problems. I'll get back to you after I read them. Thanks again."
Deming nodded.
"I'll drop you off at the airport." But Xunyi stopped him.
"I'll just ride the taxi, thank you for your help." Xunyi looked at Deming's mother and back at him once more.
"Please take care." She turned around and waved at the taxi.
When the taxi arrived, the driver helped Xunyi load her luggage and her backpack. She went in and closed the door. Yuyue and Deming looked at the taxi in the distance. Yuyue comforted her son and said, "Don't rush. She must've gone through something traumatic that even you won't tell me about it. When the time is right, she will open up herself." Deming looked at his mother, she was beautiful as always. He nodded and replied, "Hopefully."
After both of them got home, they were surprised at the arrival of Jiang Ruxue. Jiang Ruxue was Yuyue's daughter who came back to Shanghai without notice.
"Ruxue, what a nice surprise! Did you come back for summer break?" Yuyue was going to hug her daughter when Ruxue took a step back.
"What's the matter? Did someone hurt you?" She asked her out of concern.
Ruxue was a young high school student studying in Beijing. She was considered the most beautiful girl at her school. Her parents also had high expectations for her to be a lawyer but for Ruxue, she always wanted to be a fashion model. But she is hiding something.
"I came back because I need money. A friend of mine needs this much money for her family's medical fee." Ruxue explained and Deming's expression changed.
"Xiao Xue (her nickname), what's your friend's name? Do I know her?" He asked.
"Why do you need to know?" She replied defensively.
"We have the right to know where this money is going." Deming strictly replied.
"Are you giving me the money or not?" She raised her voice and Deming tried to calm down, "Xiao Xue, are you hiding something from us?"
Xiao Xue rolled her eyes and replied, "No! I'm helping her! Why do guys keep on asking me stupid questions? Just hand me the money!"
He sighed and wrote down the cheque for her, "Is this enough?" Xiao Xue took it and nodded, "Thanks." Then, she left on her friend's motorcycle since she called him a few minutes ago. His name was William and he was Ruxue's best friend. He helped her many times when she dropped out of high school.
Her friend, William, asked her, "Ruxue, are you not going to tell your family that you dropped out of high school? You cannot hide that forever. Thankfully, I know the teacher quite well so I kept his mouth shut."
Ruxue scoffed, "What parents? All they do is nag me to study hard and go to law school. But they gave me absolutely zero freedom! Being a model is my dream. I heard some companies will hire high school students to do modeling and some of them got paid. Oh right, how's my man doing?" She asked him.
"He's doing well."
As they entered the abandoned building, Ruxue entered one of the rooms. She waved her hand to get rid of the smoking smell.
"I thought you stopped smoking." She walked toward the man and then she sat on his lap.
The man chuckled, "How's my queen doing?"
Ruxue hugged him and replied, "I missed you."
"I missed you, too." He kissed her tenderly at first then almost uncontrollably. Ruxue stopped for a while and said, "Will you promise that you will always be with me?"
He nodded, "Of course. I shall obey your every command until death."
Ruxue smiled and kissed him continuously. Then, she whispered a few words into his ears. The man smiled.
"Yes, but not now."
