Chapter 17 - Unbelievable Choice

Two of the three generals rushed to save the queen, leaving one to stop Lion-Head. Seeing that, except for a measly number of troops and the general, everyone was rushing to save the queen, instead of attacking, Beast army started to retreat. Even Lion-Head left the fight, as it had nothing to do with it.

Confused and baffled, Remaining general chose to join the rescuing troops, but she kept an eye on her back. The retreating beasts weren't doing anything suspicious; they were just picking up their fallen brothers. This scene looked so unreal that if she weren't the witness, she wouldn't have believed it herself. Such an event was unheard, even in stories full of legends and fantasy.

They were retreating when they had the best opportunity of winning the war, anyone could ask for. If her hands weren't tied today, she would have attacked them ten out of ten times. But the life of her Majesty was on the line.

Since the beginning of her career, she had been under the command of her Majesty. She knew they didn't stand a chance against X without her Majesty, let alone winning this war.

An angel was storming her way inside the royal palace.

"Father, Father!" she shouted in a tone filled with urgency.

"What's the matter, Princess?" said an angel in white robes strictly.

Alexia went down on one knee. "Greetings, Grand Elder. X has betrayed us. Elysian is currently under attack by X, and he has an army of mutated beasts and giants with elemental powers under his command. He is definetly scheming something big. I think we should inform Father; only he can help us in this situation."

With an offended look clearly visible on her face, the Grand Elder scolded, "Little one, it seems your brain hasn't developed yet. Men have brains in their knees. Your father is king because he is a little bit stronger than your mother. But due to his lacking brain, your mother is the true ruler behind the scenes. I am disappointed in you. She was thinking of selecting you as her successor. And one last thing, she can handle this."

Alexia replied, "But X... Xavier was smiling..."

"Shut up!" the Elder shouted.

Alexia tried to convince a few more elders, but their responses were more or less the same. She knew that her father was nothing but a mere puppet in her mother's hands. But she also knew that despite her mother having the support of every single elder and even the favor of Guardian Angel, her father had ruled the Kingdom for more than a century. The public cherished him. She had a few conversations with her father in the past, but he never seemed to have anything special, literally nothing at all. That's the point where she believed that her father was a very clever and wise person. She even dared to say that he was the most intelligent angel, just below the Guardian Angel.

Not finding much information about her father, she put her sword to the neck of his father's personal secretary. According to him , The Demon King had invaded the kingdom in the west direction, opposite to the city of Elysian, and the King went there to chase him away. A realization struck her that the kingdom was in grave danger. Those foolish elders would never be able to think that far. Only the Guardian Angel could help her now in her current predicament.
