Chapter 20 - The King

Inside the city, a male angel staggered and barely stood with the help of his sword. His body was covered in wounds, and he had formed a pool of blood nearby.

The devastation was evident all around him. The city lay in ruins, littered with the corpses of demons and angels. Soon, more angels arrived on the scene, bearing the emblem of four-winged angels on their chests.

Two angels approached the wounded angel, kneeling down. One of them offered him a vial filled with golden liquid and a scroll.

The wounded angel ignored the vial and picked up the scroll. As he read the contents, his face showed a saddened expression. He looked around and saw that his army had suffered heavy casualties. Barely anyone was capable of taking a stable fight.

With a look of resolve, the wounded angel took the vial and drank it.

X was busy recuperating his gains from the war. He had achieved the Saint rank, had four Grandmaster-level subordinates, and had killed the Queen. He had long since returned to his normal form, and was currently on the border of the kingdom.

This region belonged to the elementals. So they had no problems hiding themselves, and this region was the last one they would suspect, due to its low angel population.

X was resting on the bed, his puppets massaging his body. He wasn't a pervert, but he was willing to stoop as low as necessary to disgrace their dignity.

"Ahh! Revenge, my sweet revenge."

He was watching them massage his foot when a white ball entered the room. The next moment, it split into five and shot at each of them.

X didn't even have a moment to dodge. All he managed to do was move sideways, avoiding his core from being destroyed.

His body started melting instantly, and his soul burning. His mana started working instantly to recover his body, but he knew he would have to bear the pain for a while.

Getting up from his bed, he saw that everything was intact. The inn was unharmed, and the room hadn't been damaged in the slightest. Except for four piles of ashes, nothing had changed.

Without wasting a breath, X tore through the roof and went into the sky.

He didn't expect his father to be there, on top of the inn alone.

"Sigh! My lost child! I apologize for not being able to take better care of you." said the King of Angels in a saddened tone.

"You and my care don't go well, don't you think? You haven't given me anything your whole life, and when I finally get something, you destroyed it." shouted X, anger lashing in his tone.

"Prepare to fight, my son." calmly stated the King.

Seeing his father take out his white sword, X knew he was serious. Conjuring his black sword, he aimed for his father's core and initiated his strikes.

But damn, his father effortlessly blocked all of his attacks. The one entity that had never lost a single close-ranged fight, "The Unbeatable Warrior."

Yeah, he was literally called by that name before he became the King, and now X knew he deserved that title.

X tried changing his tactics a few times, but to no avail. His body had been decimated countless times. If he hadn't had his insane regeneration ability, he would have died countless times.

Distancing himself from his father, X launched tentacles and started assaulting him. But damn, not even a single scratch. In the past half an hour, he hadn't touched his father's body a single time. His sword was like a phantom, protecting him at every angle. It was proving hundreds of times more dominating than the Queen's hundreds of swords.

But X had grown past that limit. Now he was stronger, but why couldn't he even touch him?

Was the gap between them really this large? No, he refused to believe this.

"Hmm! I will not hold back anymore." Black liquid started covering his whole body, and his vision turned a shade of black. His power started increasing tremendously, at least 20 times.

He started gathering mana in his hands, constantly compressing it. He launched a dark beam full of violent black mana. His father sliced through it like a waterfall parting its ways because of a stone.

"Well, why worry, when I can launch more?"

Using his tentacles, he conjured hundreds of dark beams. His father was busy fending off his tentacles.

He launched his attack. A white shield manifested, covering the King. Without crumbling to his onslaught, it held on for dear life.

"So frustrating! Damn, he is so freaking annoying. What does he think I am, a child? I will kill him!"

He is wasting my mana. He could tell that his father was weaker than him, much weaker. If they went by mana, his father had probably 1/10th of his mana.

He had to end this sooner, otherwise reinforcements might arrive at any moment.

With an idea in mind, X conjured a massive sphere, trapping his father in it. He launched tens of dark beams into it to keep him occupied.

Massive kilometer-long black swords manifested in the sky.

"Huh! Thanks Stepmom!"

The moment before the swords touched the black sphere, white light enveloped the whole surrounding area. Time seemed to stop as a white sword pierced through the sphere, the King walking out of it as if he was taking a leisurely walk in his park.

Everything started turning white as he walked, all of X's swords, sphere, and tentacles started turning into white dust.

"What! A domain? He is a legit Saint!"

Well, X was also a Saint, but he was like a newborn and his father was like a young adult. So Saints without domain like him were toddlers, whereas Saints like his father were adults.
