I can barely believe my eyes.
I knew she would be alive but that didn't prepare me for the emotions that rush through me when she appears at the mezzanine.
She looks surreal, her eyes widen in disbelief when she sees me. I've been barely holding myself up with the help of Esteban's prescription but as soon as I see her, I'm instantly invigorated. I'm running upstairs faster than I've rushed anywhere today, afraid she will disappear if I don't get up there fast enough.
She meets me halfway up the stairs and throws herself into my arms.
I wrap my arms tightly around her body.
My wife…she's alive.
I don't know how long I hold her before she peels herself away. "Will! I can't believe you're here. Your wounds…"
"Don't worry about them." I assure her.
