"So you just woke up in the forest, completely unaware as to how you got there?" The knight seemed to be confused, "how do you not know?"
"All I remember is waking up and feeling a sharp pain as if I was being stabbed with a knife in my heart and head, then everything went black." I repeated myself.
The younger man had led us back into his house, the knight following as there was a carriage on the road, waiting for the knights return as we entered the house. The man went into a different room as I sat down on a chair, looking at the knight that was standing in the corner of the room. A judgmental aura was seeping through the knight as I felt his eyes narrow in on me, as if he was trying to read me.
"What village are you from?" The knight asked me, his tone still being one of distrust.
"Village?" I asked, confused.
My response seemed to shock the knight and the man,
"What? I asked what village you're from, do you not know what a village is?" The man seemed to be in disbelief.
"I don't know." I tried to think.
"Maybe he has amnesia. Though, his clothes aren't familiar in any way." The man walked into the room, speaking up before being swiftly shut down by the knight.
"I've never heard of anyone getting amnesia this young, and if he did get amnesia, he is better off dead." The knight glared at me.
My spine shivered as I met his gaze, a gaze that was bitter cold. I can tell that this knight clearly didn't think highly of me.
"Be nice, he's just a kid!" The man sounded irritated.
"Don't tell a royal knight what to do, peasant." The knight snapped.
My eyes darted to both of them as they sighed in frustration.
"So what's going to happen now?" I asked, unsure of the future to come.
"Either this village can take you in, or we take you to an orphanage in the royal capital." The knight pushed himself off of the wall.
"The orphanage at the royal capital, are you sure we should send this kid up there? Especially when he's so confused and unsure?" The man looked at the knight, almost in complete disbelief.
"Those are the two options. There's nothing else we can do since he doesn't remember."
The knight looked back at me, "so, which do you choose?"
I felt the overwhelming weight rest in my heart, this was a decision that was either gonna make my future here harder or easier. Knowing that I needed a place to get home, and from all the shows I've watched, clearly there must be someone in the capital? But if I head there without any knowledge in this world, I know that my chances of being able to make it home are slim to none.
"I don't know." I spoke, feeling unsure of what truly needs to happen.
A young, feminine voice spoke from outside, sounding quite irritated.
"What's going on in the knight?" She spoke.
"Princess Lexia, I apologize for how long we're taking-" the knight was cut off.
"What happened? I heard a commotion and-"
