Weightless, cold, yet oddly calming. The space felt serene, a safe haven. My eyes opened to the vastness of a black and purple nebula surrounding me. Bright white stars dotted the nebula as an eclipsed moon hanged low in the background. Even though I saw nobody, the feeling of being watched never left me.
"Did you feel the power flooding through your veins, Austin?" A voice called out to me. A deep and cold tone, touched with distortion.
"Who are you?" I scanned my surroundings, seeing nobody.
"You'll know in due time, Austin. For now, you are needed."
"What do you mean I'm needed?" I asked, confused.
"The magical essence embedded into your very soul is what will help you accomplish your destiny."
"My destiny? What do you mean?!"
The nebula around me started to stir, as the eclipsed moon started to move past.
"Our time is running short... don't let the void corrupt you."
"Corrupt me? What are you saying?!" I was confused, concerned, unsure of what I was being told.
"In due time, you'll see. The power may feel intoxicating. But it is dangerous."
"I just want to go home, I don't want to be here. I never asked for this!"
"You'll need to make sacrifices, or many will be sacrificed. It is not a matter of watching you suffer, Austin. It's a matter of saving millions."
"Saving millions? What are you talking about?"
"We are out of time. We'll meet again in 3 nights. Remember, Austin, don't let the power intoxicate you and your decisions."
"I still don't understand anything! Hey!"
I felt my mind start to throb in pain as my eyes grew heavy. Pain and soreness trickled into my muscles and every fiber of my body as my eyes closed, fading back into consciousness.
