"So, what is your wish?" Things were going great… until they weren't.
"I do not have any," She said.
Her face was full of conviction, to the point that no one would think that she was lying. But she wasn't.
"If the door appeared before you, then you should have a wish," Adam said and she nodded. It made him smile since they could finally get started about the contract, but…
"It has already been fulfilled." She said with a radiant smile.
"Pardon?" Unamused Adam tilted his head.
"I wanted to see the Supreme Being and I got to. And my Wish was fulfilled the moment I stepped into this room.." She tried to explain but he frowned.
"I am not a Supreme Being." Why did this happen again? He had no idea. But he definetly wasn't the one she was looking for he can tell with certainty.
"Yes, I now understand that. So please accept my apologies for thinking about your powers with my limited intellect." Albedo nodded with the same smile and bowed.
'You are something far greater than that.' But Adam couldn't understand her at all.
"So, you have no wish then?" Even then he had to continue with his job, if she truly didn't have anything then that was all.
"Of course, nothing escapes the lord's eyes. There is something that I want… no something that we need." Her face shined as she glanced at him.
"Tell me Albedo," Adam deadpanned. But he already knew that this was the case. Some part of him wished she had gotten to the point before, but this wasn't all bad.
Eyes filled with hope she stared at him with reverence. Her entire world hung on his next words, this was more important than anything she had seen or done till now. So, she framed it with as much clarity as she could.
"I wish that you would rule over us."
"..." However, it did nothing but confuse him.
The stars of anticipation that shot out of Albedo's eyes hurt. But he had to understand things before he agreed.
"Why do you want me to rule over you/your people?" He asked.
This question would provide him with answers. According to the rules, he couldn't become another's servant. However, it was allowed if they wanted him to take the leadership role. As Ai said, these were fussy rules.
'The rule was created for situations like this. A group that needs a strong leader or hero for a goal like defeating the demon king or starting a revolution against an overpowered tyrant.' Adam hadn't met such requests yet. The closest was Rias's contract which ended with training.
'Well, I was the one who came up with that idea,' But, this seemed like the first one of those contracts.
"Hmm? A reason? There is no need for one." But, it really wasn't.
"…" The innocence on Albedo's face made Adam sigh. There were no lies or jokes here.
'Why would the Supreme Beings need a reason to rule over us—his own creations? We were born to be his servants and would die the same.' These were her true feelings and they were strengthened with every second she spent with him.
"Is it not… possible?" But that didn't mean he would accept them.
'He must be disappointed in us for taking so long... and more so…' Albedo's eyes lowered to the floor. If he rejects she would understand, after all, they were the incompetent ones.
"Well, I wouldn't say that it is impossible…" Her eyes widened at the mellow words.
She lifted her face and her heart skipped a beat at the scene in front of her.
'It could be that she can't say anything, or they lack a leader figure and there isn't any big issue. Regardless I shouldn't pass on a contract at this moment.' Adam thought.
"…There are some conditions and if you agree, we can make it possible. What do you think?" His brown eyes looked into hers as he tapped the armrest of the couch.
"Majestic…" Albedo's lips moved without consent.
The simple yet luxurious room decorated in dark accents in the back set the perfect background for him. Those light-colored clothes that were the perfect mix between regal and casual gave him a devilish atmosphere. The untouched white hair that contrasted with his darker skin elevated the atmosphere. But the cherry on the top was his eyes.
Brown eyes. They were an extremely common feature. But, his eyes made every other pale in comparison no matter how special his competitor may be.
'How can something be so simple yet so deep?' He was simply defying reality with his existence.
He was simply…
"…Majestic," Albedo spoke again.
"…What?" However, Adam's question brought her back to the plane of the living.
"Ahem…. Nothing. Please rule over us!" She was so mesmerized that she didn't even register any of his words.
'From the little I can recall, it had something to do with some conditions.' Albedo didn't have to consider them. Because there was no point, accepting him as their leader was not something that needed any thought.
This was a fact, and it would be set in stone at this very instance.
"…As long as you understand that the contract would eventually end." Adam sighed.
"I understand Lord. We will serve you beyond our means and will not disappoint you any further." Albedo got off the couch and kneeled on the floor. Even if her heart felt heavy at the possible end, there was a shining light in front of her.
"My name is Adam." The rugged and big hand that offered in front of her made Albedo look up, "You better use my name properly, understand?"
The smirk on his sharp face turned her cheeks red, but she placed her fair hand in his and got to her feet with his help.
"I will never disrespect your great name, Lord Adam." If she could Albedo would carve that name on every inch of her body, but even this body didn't belong to her.
"It is not that great… anyway let's make the contract." He shook his head with a sigh.
As he wrote the contract her eyes watched his every movement, the swinging finger to the fluttering tips of his silky hair.
A hot breath left her lips as she gulped. A contract, with this he would rule over the Great Tomb Of Nazarick. And if one contract could be made, then there was a possibility for a second.
If a second was possible, then they can make tens, hundreds, thousands...
'…We can make these contracts for an eternity!' The moment Albedo watched the white energy enter her body. She felt an unprecedented level of happiness burst out of her. If she wasn't being mindful of him, there was no telling what she would do.
"Now then, let's we meet the rest shall we?" Adam asked.
"Yes~!" This was just getting better.
