Chapter 2 - Overpowered's Origins

I was just a normal sixteen-year-old kid. Normal like all of you, really.

The type that bullies all handed rows of cash to? Yup. Me.

The type that most adults avoided? Yup me too.

The type that police first went to and asked if you have been beating any thugs up all this time? Me. Totally me.

See? I was just as normal as all of you, like, the picture of a normal person.

Normal friends that sold drugs, normal family involved with organized crime, normal school where all the children of the elite went, everything about me was normal.

I had a friend though, the very opposite of normal. Ah, what did those fat fucks call him? Right.

Chad.

Well, imagine my surprise when I was suddenly in another world, and together with this friend of mine at that.

We were summoned to some place called the Lemogras Empire that had united humanity under a collective banner and told to fight this demon king guy.

At first, they told us about all the things that we needed to do and the many kinds of blessings the gods that had brought us here had given us. We were called the heroes, well, my friend was for the most part and I was just a tag-along.

Moreover, we got to learn things more easier than others. And we barely aged one year in five.

I didn't like it, but I slurped it all up and within the next three years we were ready to fight this demon king guy?

The time to get revenge on the fucker because of whom I had to come all the way to this new world was here, but that guy just showed up and died like a fucking mosquito.

"Aah, but all's well that ends well."

The words of the princess of the Lemograss empire filled the air. The clinks of glasses of wine, the sounds of violins and cellos, the dances of the brave warriors and nobles that had participated in the grand battle, all of it made for the backdrop of the grandest party humanity had ever seen.

"What is well?" I asked, slightly pissed.

At my words, everyone in this place shut up.

The music stopped. The dances stopped. And everything else also stopped.

As if she were a criminal and the spotlight was placed straight on her, the princess started trembling. Behind the room, the assortment of kings and emperors from all over the human continent also trembled.

"T-that… even though… the demon king attacked when you were sleeping, Lord Hero was able… to hold on…"

"Hold on?" I chuckled.

Everyone shivered once more, including my friend sitting over there.

"That guy was probably just playing around." I looked at my friend. "Weren't you?"

My friend nodded.

"HAHAHA!" I laughed and leaned back in my chair.

As I laughed, every single other person in this room laughed too.

Insufferable idiots.

Though none of it mattered anymore.

Finally.

The demon fly was dead and the humans were at peace once more.

Those gods were either going to send us back, or they were going to die.

And as if my words were heard, the Oracle in the room started glowing bright and the descent of the goddess began. Everyone got to their knees as the projection of the goddess took to the grand chamber.

Everyone, except me.

The goddess saw me and started cackling.

"Ahaha! My splendid hero, you have achieved a grand victory—"

"—Hey hero, talk to her."

My friend, the actual hero, stood up at once and bowed again toward the goddess.

"I am honored to—"

"Yap yap yap. Enough, send us back."

"Send you back… yes…"

The goddess lowered her head.

Her lips curled into a wide smile.

"Actually, goddess!" My friend, the hero, suddenly spoke out loud.

"What is it, child?" The goddess asked.

"I would not like to go back."

"The fuck?" I asked, tilting my head.

The hero lowered his own and trembled in fear. As he should be, what bullshit was this guy saying?

Three years. We had spent three years in this world.

Not for this bullshit.

"I have people that I have to come love here…"

At least four ladies said 'hero…' at the same time.

"And this world will need someone to protect it too, right?"

The goddess smiled at the hero.

"Your friend has already conveyed his dissatisfaction with that, Hero."

"Eh?"

"I am sorry, no can do. I don't want to die."

What was she on about now?

Her smile suddenly turned into a grin.

"I'll send you back now. Please stand here."

The Hero tried to resist, but the goddess pulled him along anyway.

A fanfare rang as the goddess' light deepened.

I felt something odd. She was laughing.

Well, I guess seeing that your big bad world ender was no better than a fly, I would laugh too.

The goddess' glow brightened to a peak.

The Hero's cries loudened to a crescendo.

My joy rose to the skies.

It was time… to go back home.

Goodbye, shitty otherworld.

Goodbye, weakling trash assholes.

I had enough of having my sleep interrupted and being told that I couldn't whack someone just because they were some kind of duke or king or whatever. We all knew that I would sleep anyway and slap anyway.

"Goodbye, you guys," the goddess said. "It was the absolute worst experience being with you in my millennia serving as a goddess. The worst."

"HAH!?"

I couldn't voice my annoyance before the light increased.

And swallowed me whole.

I woke up to a sense of lethargy I hadn't felt in over three years.

My eyes fluttered open, the cracks running through the asphalt greeting me a good morning.

Over my legs was the crying hero.

"That bitch… she didn't just take my harem, but also my powers…"

Oh, so that's what the lethargy was. I was a normal human once more.

With my head pressed, I sat up.

The many buildings around filled with cracks were lovable as always….

Cracks?

The skies were ashen, the horizon ablaze. And over the roads, moved a hound the size of a mountain.

[Ding!]

A blue window floated in front of my eyes.
