Chapter 35 - Chapter 35

Danuja thought on her run back to school, to Kana because how could she not?

Because Danuja know that in her mad run to Mr. Touma and all their talk, there was no way she could arrive at school before lunch break. Which means she broke her routine with the girl, small goddess and most likely made her worried or annoyed.

Danuja kind of wanted for her to be annoyed, the pout she would wore for the rest of the day would be a reward in itself.

---

Danuja blinked surprised at the empty rooftop. After she jumped over the gate, at the blind point of the supervision cameras, Danuja hurried to their spot when she realized that lunch break was in full blow which give her at last an hour to spend beside Kana.

'' Bathroom.''  Danuja said nodding to herself before turning around. It wasn't like Kana didn't do things by herself, it was just that Danuja liked to spend all her possible time with the silver haired beauty.

And if there were rumors that Kana was keeping her in a 'leash' than Danuja surely didn't mind.

Upon reaching the bathroom just to find it empty of Kana, not minding the startled girls there, Danuja frowned before before taking a deep breath.

Maybe she is in class  Danuja thought turning towards said room  Maybe she didn't want to stay there alone. Or there was a teacher near. She is always skittish around teachers

At the end Danuja growled low in her throat. Kana was not in the classroom either.

'' Um, Sora-san -''  one of her nameless classmates spoke, surprising her and almost the entire classroom  ''-if you are searching for Kana-san then she wanted me to tell you that she is in the infirmary.''  at their words Danuja narrowed her eyes before walking forward, towards them.

The sight of her monstruous height before  them made the student cower.

'' Which one?''  Danuja asked in a low voice

'' Huh?''  the student asked dumbly making their friends hiss in worry

'' Which one of the infirmary's?''  she asked again gritting her teeth

'' Ah. The one on the third floor, not the one-''  their words remained unheard for Danuja who was already outside, the door rattling awfully behind her, dashing for the third floor

There were two infirmary's in Danuja school. One, outside, near the football field for harsher injuries and another, inside on the third floor for colds, insomnia symptoms, migraines and whatever a student could have in mind to skip.

----

The infirmary was empty of any nurse that should be there. It wasn't really a surprise, as there was a single person for more than a hundred students so she must have been in the other infirmary. That didn't mean Danuja wasn't irritated when the woman wasn't there.

The sight of Kana on one of the empty beds, sheet throw on the side and fingers scratching her own skin made her sprung in movement.

'' Hey, hey, hey-''  she begin a little unsure but still adopting the tone she used on Dad whenever he was hurt  ''- what's wrong? Where does it hurt hm?''  she said hovering her fingers above Kana head

Kana looked almost as startled as Danuja while looking up and if her eyes weren't red and puffy then Danuja would have almost called her cute.

'' Danuja-san?''  her voice was soft, softer than usual with a slight hesitation before her ears reddened in embarrassment

'' That's right.''  Danuja nodded not letting her anger at whoever made Kana like this show or her irritation at the nurse absence  '' What's hurting? Or what did it hurt before? Kana.''  Danuja said her name when the girl just looked startled at her

'' Ah.''  Kana said surprised blinking before shifting in her place, patting the mattress before adding timidly  '' I'm sorry. It was just-'' she waved her hands around her head whining distressed

Danuja was this close of going berserk around the school just to find out who the fuck dared.

''- the sounds, they-their voices where so loud and I-I don't know I just panicked. It's really dumb.'' she finished biting her fingers, Danuja taking them out carefully

'' It's not.''  Danuja growled viciously before taking a seat on the small stool beside the infirmary bed, just to put some distance between them  '' Who screamed? Or fought?''

If possible Kana looked more distressed, pressing her toes on the mattress, breathing heavily.

'' That's why it's dumb. No one yelled or screamed or fought or slammed doors. Nothing. I'm just stupid and panicking for nothing.''  she finished quietly, curling upset in a small ball on that spot

Danuja breathed heavily, trying to remember when was the last time she was so angry or how she calmed after.

Oh, right  Danuja thought in a bittersweet amusement    I punch things to calm myself

'' Can I seat beside you?''  Kana nodded immediately, though she didn't lift her head.  '' Can I touch your hand?''

Kana hummed in agreement before lifting her own hand from under her knees, scooting just the littlest bit closer but still on the uncovered spot. Danuja took her hand, small, soft and unscarred in her own and squeezed gently.

'' You did not panic for nothing.''  she begin soothing  '' There nothing dumb about your feelings or how you express them.''

'' It's not normal.'' Kana whimpered tightening her hold.  Slowly, giving Kana time to shy away, Danuja let her other hand fall on her silver, smooth hair before patting her head gently letting her fingers tread in her hair, being careful to not touch anymore skin.

'' That's not a bad thing either.  Being different it's actually better than being normal.''  Danuja said in a much more cheerful voice making Kana finally, finally, raise her head, peeking at her with teary, amethyst eyes

'' How so?''  Kana asked and she looked so much more younger than Danuja ever thought. It made Danuja have a bitter taste but even so she maintained her smile

'' Cause it's makes you special.'' she said knocking her forehead on Kana's  '' Makes you unique.''  Danuja smiled softly at the girl who smiled hesitantly back

'' Unique sound better than abnormal.'' Kana said quietly laughing lightly

A couple of freaks   a much darker, awful, awful voice said in Danuja mind before she could shove it away.

The gentle waft of vanilla and of soft eyes made her forget of it the next moment.
