It was the first time being happy that her parents are not there.
Just looking at the pair of parents harshly scolding their children for damaging school property and for bullying her, made Danuja feel just a little bit better.
Finding out that she can't defend herself without parents or a guardian present ruined her mode though ''- a dog can't talk Sora-kun. Stop talking nonsense.''
Her years in Elementary School were changed from that point on.
Getting in fight's, some more worse than others, eating her food by the school gate or the fence, with Dad beside her, being bullied until she throw her already craved, battered and painted desk out of the window. They switched her seat since then. The teachers being disappointed in her for being...well a kind of animalistic student, violent if bothered and unfazed if left alone.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
YEAR 6 ELEMENTARY, 12 years old
Her routine was steady.
She walked Dad out of the neighborhood, eat breakfast in park with him, go back to take a shower or a last get the fur off her clothes, go to school, check her desk, eat lunch by the fence with Dad, listen to music in math and home.
Sometimes her notebooks were ripped or her bag was stuffed in a trash can. Ami older brother, some no-name that Danuja didn't care about was having the time of his life overpowering a twelve year old girl.
Sometimes there were fights. Sasaki still liked to meet her out of school and bully her on the streets, she was doing pretty rare now. Just the sign of Dad made them turn away, they didn't quite see how sweet he was behind the stature and shaggy fur. All the better for her.
Sometimes when her head hurt from no sleeping or not eating enough she throws herself first into the fight, other times they did. It was an endless cycle or caught or be caught.
Danuja was walking towards the market, her fridge and Dad bag of food quite empty. Today, after six years of eating convenience store meals, pre-frozen ones, pre-made food, Danuja wanted to make her own food. In her pocket was a small note where ingredients like pasta, tomatoes and frozen meat. She wasn't actually sure what she will try to make, but in the end food was food and if worse comes to worsts she can always change back to convenience store meals.
It was an unusual day, she recognize it. Today Dad remained home, the heat outside too much for him and his pawns.
She did her shopping, the gossip around her stopping bothering her long ago. Oh she knows it happens, course she does, Danuja just doesn't care anymore.
Back on her way home it happened.
It was the same feeling she has when followed. When Ami older brother though himself even funnier and tried to mess with her outside of school as well. She learned to not get those type of things dragged on, it could come to the point were she ended up in a fight. And despite the fact she never avoided one, the bruises and cuts she got were never pleasant.
So Danuja stopped and turned around calling to the them
" Can I help you? " She asked sarcastically looking at the culprit.
To her surprise her golden eyes meet a pair of obsidian eyes. A boy that was/ is older or just stupidly tall for his age - weren't boys suppose to have their grown spurt in high-school? - was at two good meter's from her with his hands stuffed in his pockets, wearing a huge hoodie, covering his features, despite the fact it was the hottest day she ever witness and having the most unbothered stance for someone that presumably comes to fight.
" You Sora or something?" He asked shifting uncomfortable, there was sweat glistening on his forehead
Danuja nodded upon hearing her family name, making the boy continue " So...listen I don't actually do this on daily basis. Really ." he added seeing her skeptical look " I don't even meddle with middle schoolers, even if they are last year or not. But- " he steps close to her " This junior of mine come beaten up at school one day, some really beautiful colors covering his face and arm, didn't really care much from him though."
Ah...that would be Ami brother who Danuja still doesn't know his name despite that he always popped out from some direction and tries to bother her. And yeah maybe last time it was a bad time, like a really bad one.
Dad didn't want to eat one bit that morning and the jeers from school to home were louder than usual, making her want to take their tongues and make a braid with them just to shut them up. Additionally she just become victim of the joys of womanhood, making her spend money on medication and too many pads, tampons and really whatever she could get for that situation. That also means her allowance getting smaller before she could pay the bloody bills.
Getting jumped by that bastard was the last thing she wanted.
" But you know how it is with girlfriends they get all emotional and want to take revenge for their ugly pets." he stops for a few seconds looking at her up and down " Or maybe you don't...being a girl and tiny and a bloody middle schooler and hey how the hell did you even land a hit on than guy?" he asked just now realization he was talking with a 12 years old girl
" The bigger you are the faster you fall. " she said relaxing slightly despite the situation " And I have a very good aim when it comes to my spit."
Her unorthodox answer and kind of disgusting really but efficient made him grimace and snort amused at the same time.
" Unexpected but not unheard. " he looked at her more intently and Danuja, frustrated huffed and finally asked
" So? You want to take revenge for your junior?" She ask defensive looking without hesitation in his black orbs, trying to guess how strong he could be
" Actually-" he grins amused, letting his hood fall down revealing a strong jaw, thin lips and a pierced nose , his obsidian eyes glistening madly " - I'm offering you a job. Don't little middle schoolers like you, love money?" he ask growing more amused at her indifferent face.
