(Back to Aana's POV)
(After Axel left) I had hoped that Axel would stay with us since it was dangerous outside. But how foolish of me to assume it, he was also an undead! How could I be so naive? I berated myself for my stupidity...
Meanwhile, Doctor Oliver De Vil was still a mystery to me. Why was he after us? What did he want from us? How did he know about us? As I was pondering these questions, Emma called me to join them for dinner. She had cooked some instant noodles for us since the vegetables we had were rotten. I sighed and accepted the bland meal. We ate in silence and then went to bed, exhausted.
The next morning, I was rudely awakened by Della yanking my blanket and sending me tumbling to the floor. It was the second time I hit my head (sad but true). She told me in a frantic voice that she had a vision of Doctor Oliver De Vil coming our way. I wondered how he had tracked us down. Della was panicking, so I tried to calm her down and reassure her that we would find a way out. She told me that it was not that simple. The doctor was bringing a team of gifted commandos who would easily overpower us. I realized that I had underestimated him. He was not just a know-it-all doctor, but also a dangerous enemy with powerful allies. If I made one wrong move, I could end up in hell's Gate.
But first, I wanted to have some fun. I had fallen from the bed this morning, thanks to Della's prank. So how could I let anyone else sleep peacefully? I decided to get back at them. I went to Hannah's bed, which was right next to the window. I pulled her blanket hard, hoping to make her fall off the bed. But she was too smart for me. She held on to the blanket and didn't budge. I was disappointed. Then I went to Emma's bed, which was next to mine. I pulled her blanket with all my strength and watched her tumble to the floor with a loud thud. My devilish plan was successful. I felt very happy and satisfied. But before she could scold me or worse, beat me to death, I opened a portal and told them to follow me. I went to pick up Cupcake, my adorable puppy, but he wouldn't move and ran away. I was worried about him, he was acting different from usual, And then, a voice from the door made me freeze.
"This time, you won't escape." It was Doctor Oliver De Vil himself. He was a tall man, with a muscular build and glasses. He had a handsome face, but it was marred by a wicked smirk. He looked like a devil from hell.
"Something is wrong with my pup," I said defiantly. "You're Doctor Oliver De Vil, right? So why don't you use your rusty degree and see what's wrong with him?"
He scoffed and said, "Do I look like a veterinarian to you? I have nothing to do with this fluffy little puppy."
I was furious with his remark and said, "Hey, I don't send my puppy to eat at your home. It's none of your concern. And don't you dare body-shame my baby?" I said it like a protective mother.
"Huh, literally Aana. Baby, you haven't changed a bit," he said.
"Well, I don't know why you're after us. What crime have we committed? Do you have an arrest warrant? I don't think so. The only crime we could be guilty of is being too pretty," I said sarcastically.
Everyone laughed at my joke, except him. He said, "Well then, you admit it yourself."
He acted as if he had caught us red-handed. I was really angry now. I said, "I would appreciate it if you leave right now. You're pissing me off."
"You need to learn some manners, kid. You weren't like this before," he said.
I thought that I had never met this devil in my life before. So how did he know me? I decided to burn him to ashes with my pyrokinesis ability. But before I could unleash my flames, something strange happened. Everything around me froze in place. My friends, the commandos, and even my flames were stuck in time. Doctor Oliver had the power to stop time. He walked towards me with a smug grin on his face. He was going to kill me for sure.
But then, something even stranger happened. My little Cupcake, who was just a few centimetres tall, stood up in front of me and transformed into a ferocious three-eyed creature that was 50 feet tall. He broke through the ceiling and towered over us like a giant beast. He roared and scared the hell out of Doctor Oliver and his men.
They ran away for their lives as Cupcake glared at them. Then everything returned to normal. The commandos were gone and so was Doctor Oliver.
My friends were terrified by what they had seen, but I wasn't afraid of Cupcake. He was still my baby after all. He shrank back to his normal size and jumped into my arms. He licked my face and wagged his tail.
I thought that Doctor Oliver wouldn't bother us again anytime soon after this encounter.
But then I felt a wave of nostalgia wash over me. My vision went blank and I fell on the floor unconscious.
I saw flashes of memories that were not mine.
Memories of different timelines that I had lived through but didn't remember.
Memories of Cupcake being a gift from someone who knew his true nature.
(There are several timelines that everyone has gone through, but only a few people remember them. There are only three people who remember every timeline: two from Time's party and one from World's side. And they would be travelling from timeline to timeline until either Time or World accomplishes their goal.)
