Neil looked over his shoulder he believed the arrow to come from. Standing on a larger rock about 20 feet away he could see Amelia smiling as she looked towards him. He also saw a small window pop up that mentioned the development of a new skill, but he chose to first wrap up this situation.
"You could've done that sooner! Neil yelled to her. He had grown too exhausted to speak kindly or within their current limits and instead began talking as though they were long-time friends.
"It looked like you had it covered" She replied to him in a joking voice. She hastily made her way over to Neil to better see the outcome of the battle.
"Very funny" Neil muttered quietly to himself. He sat in a small pool of his blood coming from his hamstring, surrounded by 4 bright wolf corpses that were now scattered about in the flower field. Blood was spread all across the field and Neil himself was covered in the blood of both himself and the wolves whose blood was also red.
"I have to say that was quite impressive, at least what I saw of it," Amelia said in a kinder voice.
"Though you yelling out the name of what I'd guess to be a skill was pretty comedic" She added, looking at Neil as she said this.
"I would call it cinematic" Neil added in an attempt to explain his actions, internally he was questioning why exactly he had done that.
Amelia smiled at this and, looked at the scene in more depth.
"Do you have any potions for your leg?" She asked in a more serious voice. She was obviously quite used to seeing these bloody displays. She didn't seem to care about all of the blood but instead was looking more at the corpses of the bright wolves.
"I do not" Neil responded shamefully, he had forgotten to get healing items during his busy night.
"Would you spare me just one?" Neil asked Amelia in a pleading and comedic voice.
"Here, you now owe me one," She said chucking a potion at Neil's chest.
Neil looked at the red elixir in front of him and popped the cap off the top and drank the entire thing in a matter of seconds.
"I am indeed indebted to you," He said to Amelia after downing the potion.
"Stop talking like that, it's odd" Amelia responded to him. Neil's wound was healed instantly and he could feel his strength return.
He marveled at the strength of the simple potion and couldn't help but fall into a deeper love with the world. As he continued to be in awe of the potion and its effects Amelia had walked up to one of the Bright Wolf corpses.
"What gorgeous creatures," She said to herself.
"I agree, truly a tragedy we had to fight" Neil responded, now standing behind her.
"I hope you don't plan on taking that last corpse, while I am thankful for your help, I will fight for each of those corpses. You did see my struggle there." Neil added as he went to grab his pouch.
"I realize, I wasn't planning on taking any of the corpses, just admiring them some is all" Amelia replied.
Neil went around to the four wolves and put each one into his pouch, they would be another thing he'd look at in greater depth later. For now, he simply needed to collect them and then get moving again, as the battle had already been enough of a distraction.
"We might as well be leaving now," Neil said to Amelia who stood in the meadow of flowers.
"Yes, I suppose so, though I still have yet to know exactly where we are going"
"Oh, my bad I had forgotten about that, we are heading to the very center of the Krang Mountains. At the base of the third tallest mountain there should be a cave that we can use to delve into the depths, there you will obtain the artifact I promised to you" Neil responded, finally letting her know of the precise location.
"Good to know, let's go then," Amelia said before quickly dashing towards this spot. As an elf of any kind she had a very strong knowledge of the nature around her, and what lie near her. With this innate sense, it seemed she was able to pinpoint rough locations, a very impressive skill that Neil knew would help the both of them.
Neil followed her silently as he was now too exhausted to talk. They traveled onwards for another 4 hours at a slightly slower pace than they had been moving at before. The mountains slowed their movement and forced them to be more careful, as there was the chance of coming across many cave-dwelling creatures.
They were luckily able to avoid any of these unsavory encounters and with the help of Neil's guidance and Amelia's innate sense, the two of them were able to locate the cave. They talked some about what to do and decided that camping for the night and then going into the cave the next day would be the best.
Amelia left to go fetch water and Neil used this as an opportunity to cook a tasty meal.
'Cooking time!' Neil thought to himself as he pulled out the frying pan from his pouch along with that he pulled a large piece of pork and a various selection of herbs along with some onions. The creator of the board game had used the same food items within the game as those on Earth, for the most part, which made it easy for Neil to transmit his cooking abilities.
He placed the pan over the fire that the two had set up and began cooking the meat, which he had cut up with his axe, and the sliced onions, which were also with cut his axe.
"That is a wonderful smell" Neil heard Amelia's familiar voice as he was finishing cooking the meal.
"Prepare your mouth for a delightful experience," Neil responded to her
"I'll be the one to judge that" She declared.
Neil pulled the frying pan out from over the fire and presented it to her. Amelia did her best to keep a controlled façade while internally she was craving the tasty-looking meal in front of her.
She waited for Neil to take the first bite and quickly followed after him. Since they didn't have forks they simply grabbed the pieces of meat and onion and stuffed themselves with it.
"Ahh!" Amelia couldn't help herself from making noise as she ate the meal, it seemed she was a big foodie and Neal's cooking was definitely to her standards.
"So I'm guessing it's a delightful experience then" Neil quipped.
"Just let me enjoy this without your wit" Amelia replied to him as she continued to scarf down the meal. This comment truly brightened Neil's feelings as he felt much closer to her than he had ever expected and hoped they could only grow closer.
Amelia noticed Neil's quiet happiness and began questioning him over it.
"Just a beautiful night," He said to Amelia looking up at the night sky above him. It was more beautiful than any sky he had ever seen on Earth as it was speckled with numerous multicolored and bright stars.
Amelia continued staring at Neil for a moment before accepting this response and continuing to finish what little remained of the meal. She had eaten much more than him in the end, though he didn't mind much as the potion he had earlier kept him feeling full.
"I think I'll be going to bed now," Amelia said to Neil as she headed towards a small tent that they had set up.
Neil simply nodded and continued looking upwards, engrossed by the beautiful sky, he wished there was a way he could become one with it and all of its beauty.
Neil had volunteered to be the first one on guard shift for the night and he'd be covering for the next 5 hours, after which he'd switch with Amelia and get some rest. He wasn't currently tired as it was maybe 10:30 so he thought thinking about how he'd burn the hours he had to himself.
Just then he remembered the notification he had gotten earlier in the day. He quickly checked his character sheet to see whatever changes were there. He had gained two levels from killing the four wolves and was now level 4. This gave him six more skill points that he would have to freely assign. this wasn't the point of focus for Neil though, instead, it was his new skill.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skills:
The Eyes of an Outsider (Level 1): You're prior knowledge Achemia allows you to investigate what is contained within it with an already well known system. Though you are better able to understand the items and yourself within Archemia the beings of Archemia are distrustful of you.
You can call for and receive basic information about any nonliving object, you may also see information on yourself. This skill cannot be used on other creatures and people are automatically distrustful of you because of your unique eyes.
Downward Cleave (Level 1): After using the move numerous times on enemies you were able to develop it into a skill.
An Over head strike skill usable with any axe type weapon, the damage from this move will be 150% of what it previously without the skill.
Cooldown: None, though repeated uses will exhaust your body.

"Haha" Neil chuckled to himself seeing the new kill, it seemed that having a repeated use of the same attack allowed it to become a skill for him.
"With that I think I'll make a decision" Neil said to the air around him.
He would finally be choosing his class
