Chapter 27 - Starting School

January 12th, 3172

The trio arrived at the imposing gates of the school, where the gatekeeper attempted to speak, only to be silenced by Aya's commanding aura. Without delay, they were ushered straight to the director's office, where Gwan Lis, a cross-breed of a spirit and a Varmint with a red-clawed hand, awaited them.

"I am Gwan Lis," he introduced himself, acknowledging Akira and Renjiro. "Aya has spoken highly of both of you. I will personally handle your registration, especially yours," he pointed at Akira, referring to his silver hair. Gwan Lis handed them a contract to fill out, asking about their realms and lineage, among other details.

The two quickly answered the questions and received holographic bracelets, which marked their official enrollment. Akira saw a message from Aya Mori, and he kept it in mind to read it later. They then joined the other students preparing for the rank determination test, where they were required to fight and defeat a D-rank beast known as the horned tiger.

One by one, students showcased their skills, drawing oohs and aahs from their peers. When it was Hana Yamashita's turn, some boys made disrespectful remarks, but Akira intervened, using a mild {Supersonic Wave} to silence them. Hana appreciated the support and swiftly defeated the beast with her {Dragon's Claw} skill.

Renjiro conjured an {Earth Tiger} that easily overpowered the horned tiger. When Akira stepped forward, he charged at the beast fearlessly. Utilizing six {Earth Whips} and four {Earthen Hands}, he stabbed the whips into the beast's stomach, infuriating it and triggering an evolution due to rage.

Concerned, Takeshi warned Akira to retreat, fearing for his safety, but Akira remained composed. He unleashed another controlled {Supersonic Wave} scream, annihilating the beast in a matter of seconds. Some students passed out, while others suffered from bleeding ears. The nobles remained unfazed but marveled at Akira's ability to use two unrelated skills.

Approaching Akira, Takeshi asked about his well-being and inquired about the usual C-rank dagger that should have been in the beast's remains. Akira revealed that he had it and requested Takeshi to dispose of the other weapons he had collected during the forest incident, keeping the C-rank dagger for himself.

Impressed but warning him against repeating such a dangerous feat, Takeshi agreed to Akira's request. He then instructed the students to return to their dorm rooms, where holographic names would identify their assigned accommodations permanently.

As the students dispersed to their rooms, Akira couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and trepidation.
