One day, she decided to confront him about it. They were sitting in a café when she brought it up, and Liam's expression darkened.
"I thought we had moved past this," he said, his voice cold and distant. "Why do you keep digging into my past? Can't you just accept me for who I am?"
Chloe was taken aback by his sudden change in mood. She didn't want to upset him, but she also couldn't ignore her instincts.
"I just want to know the truth," she said softly. "I care about you, Liam, but I need to make sure that I'm not putting myself in danger."
Liam sighed and took a deep breath. "Okay, fine," he said. "I'll tell you everything."
Chloe slowly let her guard down around Liam, and they started seeing each other on a regular basis. Liam had truly changed, and he was doing everything in his power to make things right.

Liam took a long sip of his coffee and began to recount his story. He grew up in a rough neighborhood and was surrounded by violence and crime from a young age. His father was abusive, and his mother was an alcoholic who could barely take care of him.
Liam turned to drugs and alcohol as a way to cope with his pain, and before he knew it, he was in too deep. He started stealing and selling drugs to make ends meet, but it wasn't enough.
One day, he got caught in the middle of a drug deal gone wrong and ended up killing a man in self-defense. He knew that he had to run before the police caught up with him, so he fled the city and went into hiding.
