Chapter 2 - I'm Your Brother

"Xiaoya?" In the hospital corridor, a young man approached, looking like he was in a hurry. He appeared to be around twenty years old, dressed casually but with slightly disheveled clothes and muddy shoes. However, when he smiled, he exuded a clean and sunny aura.

But Fu Xiaoya paid him no attention because she didn't recognize him, and he wasn't present in the memories of the original owner.

"Xiaoya, it's me, your brother! I've come to pick you up!" The young man stepped forward, raising his hands as if to give Fu Xiaoya a hug but hesitated, afraid of startling her. In the end, he could only gaze at her with teary eyes, displaying a look of deep emotion upon finally finding his beloved relative.

Fu Xiaoya took a few steps back, watching the man cautiously. Who would be seeking their long-lost family member in the middle of the night? She couldn't help but suspect that he might be the second assassin sent by Shen Nanhai for added insurance.

Fu Song's body trembled with excitement. He took several deep breaths, forcing himself to calm down. He looked at Su Xiaoya and said, "Xiaoya, you were very young when you got lost, so you might not remember your brother. When you went missing, you were wearing a necklace with a star-patterned agate pendant around your neck. You also had a plum blossom birthmark on your buttocks, and there was..."

"Wait a minute." Fu Xiaoya quickly interrupted, realizing that he was about to reveal even the birthmark on her buttocks. If she didn't stop him now, who knows what embarrassing things he would say.

Fu Song chuckled and scratched his head. "Xiaoya, do you finally believe me?"

"Listen, mister, here's some advice. Next time you want to prove your identity, bring a paternity test rather than talking about birthmarks and agate pendants. It'll be more convincing," Fu Xiaoya waved her hand dismissively at Fu Song and confidently walked past him.

Fu Song quickly caught up, jogging beside her. "Xiaoya, do you need a paternity test? I have it with me. Xiaoya, I really am your brother. I heard about your accident. Are you okay? Should we get you checked again?"

Throughout the journey, wherever Fu Xiaoya went, Fu Song followed, and his mouth never stopped running. Fu Xiaoya stopped in her tracks, feeling a headache coming on. "Alright, alright, you're my brother, my real brother. Can you please stop talking now?" She had looked at the paternity test, and genetically speaking, they did have a sibling relationship. However, even paternity tests could be falsified.

"Enough, stop following me, or don't blame me for being impolite." Fu Xiaoya's patience vanished, completely disregarding her brother's transition from excitement to hurt.

Just as Fu Xiaoya finished speaking and turned around, a glaring light flashed, and someone grabbed her hand. A car passed by, narrowly avoiding hitting her!

"What the hell, can't you drive? Stop the car, can't you hear me?" Fu Song's heart raced as he let go of Fu Xiaoya's hand and chased after the moving vehicle, shouting obscenities.

Fu Xiaoya watched Fu Song's figure with a complicated gaze. Was this what it felt like to be protected by family? She shouted after Fu Song's back, "Brother, stop chasing, you won't catch up."

Upon hearing this, Fu Song's running footsteps abruptly halted, nearly tripping. He turned around, looking at Su Xiaoya with a choked voice, "Xiaoya, did you just call me brother?"

"I'm hungry," Fu Xiaoya replied.

Fu Song ran back, grabbing Fu Xiaoya's hand excitedly. "Brother will take you to eat something delicious."

Fu Xiaoya nodded and obediently followed behind him. Although she couldn't yet confirm if Fu Song was her real brother, his protective nature was genuine.

In the evening, there were many street food stalls with a bustling crowd, and the owners were overwhelmed with customers. Fu Song went to sort things out on his own and soon brought a bowl of yam porridge. Fu Xiaoya glanced at it and directly refused, "I want something with meat."

Fu Song scooped a spoonful of porridge, blew on it to cool it down, and brought it to Fu Xiaoya's mouth, coaxing her, "Be a good girl, Xiaoya. You seem fine, but don't let your guard down. Yam porridge is good for your health. Just take a sip, okay?"

As Fu Xiaoya looked at the porridge being offered to her lips, the tall wall of defenses in her heart seemed to crack open a little. She took a deep breath and drank the spoonful of porridge. She made a decision in her heart and softly said, "Brother, I'll go home with you."

"Really?" Fu Song's joy overwhelmed him, leaving him at a loss for words. He could only smile foolishly and then, remembering something, hastily took out his phone. "I'll call Mom and Dad to share the good news. They'll be so happy to know that you've agreed to come home."

Fu Xiaoya watched the excited and uncontrollable Fu Song. She whispered, "Silly brother." Since the original owner was adopted by the Shen family, she must have biological parents. Who knows, maybe she and Fu Song were truly family?
