Chapter 8 - Advancement

Fu Xiaoya received the script for the role of the Queen who started off immersed in love, but gradually turned into a lonely queen due to the downfall of her nation. Girl number 693 received the script for the Unrequited Love Warrior, who disguised as a maid by Fu Xiaoya's side but later revealed his true identity as a male warrior and valiantly fought against the enemy. Girl number 694 received the script for the Prince who suffered from bullying since childhood and later turned into a vengeful character, determined to overthrow the Queen's regime at any cost.

The three scripts presented conflicting storylines, allowing each individual to have their shining moments and emotional breakthroughs. However, the actual performance would ultimately depend on each person's skill level.

As the stage lights dimmed, a lively piano melody began. In the frame, Fu Xiaoya appeared with a gentle smile, singing a sweet melody that portrayed her deep love for the King. Following her performance, girl number 693 stood on Fu Xiaoya's right side, expressing her unrequited love for Fu Xiaoya and her envy towards the King. However, her performance lacked intensity, and the progression of emotions was too slow.

At the same time, the camera shifted to girl number 694, who played the Prince. Kneeling on the ground, her eyes bloodshot and fists clenched tightly, she sang a song filled with boundless grievances and ambitious desires for power.

Suddenly, the background music changed dramatically as the King and girl number 694, portraying the Prince, engaged in a fierce duel. The King, played by a supporting actor, exuded a powerful presence, overpowering girl number 694 in the song. However, this scene was meant to showcase girl number 694's Prince character suppressing the King.

The plot continued to unfold as the ambitious Prince ruthlessly killed the King. Fu Xiaoya, in the role of the Queen, opened her mouth in shock, unable to utter a sound. Blood gushed from her mouth, and silent tears streamed down her face as she crawled towards the lifeless body of the King. There were no heart-wrenching cries, only a pair of sorrowful eyes that could make anyone shed tears. Embracing the King's body, she used her singing voice to express her heartfelt emotions, lamenting the regrets of their unrealized future. With the progression of the song, her gaze gradually became resolute and piercing. She gently laid the King's body down, picked up a nearby knife, and her eyes brimmed with immeasurable hatred.

Fu Xiaoya held the knife in her hands and took step by step towards girl number 694. Despite having no added makeup and still wearing the same white dress, she inexplicably exuded a chilling and fierce aura, embodying the transformation of a love-lost character into darkness. The tone of her singing shifted from lively to hoarse and deep.

Girl number 694 watched as Fu Xiaoya approached her, exuding a commanding aura, like an uncrowned queen. She was petrified and unable to react, feeling as if she would soon be struck down by Fu Xiaoya's blade.

At that moment, Fu Xiaoya raised her sword high and swung it down forcefully!

Suddenly, the stage lights brightened, and the interviewers stood up applauding. Their expressions were filled with excitement. Although the performance was not completed, the victor had already been determined.

As the lights illuminated the stage, the bloodlust and coldness that had emanated from Fu Xiaoya instantly vanished, replaced by a serene and gentle demeanor. The others were slower in transitioning their emotions and still captivated by the intimidation of Fu Xiaoya's final strike. They dared not meet her gaze.

"Each of your performances was outstanding, but unfortunately, only one can advance," the interviewer in the middle stated, scanning Fu Xiaoya and the other two contestants before finally resting his gaze on Fu Xiaoya. He continued, "Congratulations, number 684. You have advanced."

"Thank you," Fu Xiaoya responded calmly. When she received the script for the role, she had a feeling that she would advance. The original owner of her body already had a foundation in opera, and combined with the intense conflict inherent in this character, it was natural for her to secure a spot.

Fu Xiaoya's composed demeanor further impressed the interviewers, who occasionally exchanged glances, their admiration and appreciation undisguised in their eyes.

The interviewers politely addressed the other two contestants, "Your performances were also excellent. We hope to see even more impressive performances from you in the future." Their words were clearly perfunctory.

The two eliminated girls felt a sense of unwillingness. They were not newcomers to the industry and had even pulled some strings to get an early hold of the script for this opportunity. However, they never expected to be surpassed by a newcomer in the end! How could they not feel frustrated and angry about it?
