Two figures could be seen int the sky. They were facing each other with varying expressions.
"I didn't expect a weakling to have that speed, am indeed impressed though it needs more than speed for you to defeat me." The old man said with an angered expression. But,
"Haha...Good, now you have made things simpler. I see you are strong, your soul is perfect for my rise."
He appeared before Karl and punched.
Swoosh
Karl flung away like a broken kite by the impact. He was just that fast.
The old man disappeared and followed suit.
Karl crashed into the forest. He immediately stabilised himself. A golden sword appeared in his hand and slashed forward.
A golden arc flew towards a dark figure making it halt.
Lightning cracked fiercely around Karl. He shot forward with all his mighty.
He slashed, punched, twisted and blocked. They traded blows on ground like two hungry beasts. The trees flew like weeds. The ground cracked and split.
Shockwaves shook the Earth. Hills crumbled. It was a fierce battle between ascended beings.
A golden flash and a black one zipped. Pure chaos was unleashed.
Everyone's strength was exerted to the limit. The old man couldn't believe his eyes. In all his lifespan, there has never been a situation where a low Rank could stand ground against a higher Rank without support.
But here he was, trading blows on equal footing with this silver haired youngman he has never seen. Clearly he was an Emperor rank which was impressive but not enough in his eyes.
He punched him upwards with all his mighty.
Though Karl managed to block with the sword in time, it felt like a giant hammer.
His body shot up at astonishing speed breaking the sound barrier.
He managed to stabilise himself. Now they levitated thousands of kilometers above the ground.
He turned around as he sensed something strange.
The area around them for about a kilometer started to turn pitch black with him and this old man at the center.
The area seemed to have blocked all the light from reaching them.
"Let me show you what power truly means. You are nothing before absolute power. Just submit and have a painless death."
A pitch black sword appeared in his hands. His appearance slightly distorted leaving only bones.
From the start Karl had been doubtful of his race but now it was clear. An undead creature, a high ranked one at that.
His brain raced with ideas. Honestly, from what he knew, an undead creature was a near immortal creature for it didn't die unless something destroyed its soul.
He remembered the black crystal and his gaze landed on its neck where the crystal was hanging.
The area was currently under its influence. Given the corrosive nature of its energy, bright crimson flames flared around Karl blocking off the corrosion.
"What a surprise, hehe..."
It smiled. A long black sword appeared in its hands.
The dark energy around it concentrated as shot towards Karl. They coiled around like tentacles.
They attacked him from everywhere. His figure was kept under check as he tried to block off the attacks which seemed endless.
They seemed to have a life of their own. This continued for about 30 seconds but....
Boom
Crimson flames exploded. The dark energy was swept away.
He wasted no time and shot a massive ice spike at the root cause. The spike, 8 meters in length shot towards the skeleton.
Clung!!
It was blown away by the impact. But how wrong it was....
Booom
A giant ice ball 10 meters wide heavily crashed into it. They descended at an alarming pace.
Before they could reach the ground, the skeleton ripped it apart fiercely.
But all it received was a world shaking punch in face. Its skull cracked slightly due to the impact.
Karl used this chance to grab the black crystal.
The skeleton punched him fiercely with all its mighty. His lungs lost air in a split second. He went sweeping across the ground leaving a giant tunnel behind. The punch was was strong that he nearly lost consciousness there.
This thing was way above his league. The only advantage he had was the speed. Its strength nearly made him collapse.
"I can't believe you have the guts to crack my face. Seems I have been taking things so lightly."
It spoke clearly irritated. This was supposed to be a joyful day for its ascension to the next rank but this boy managed to ruin it all. It was pissed beyond words.
The area darkened. This time though, all trees in the area dried up. Everything turned pitch black. The dark energy became even more potent.
The skeleton's figure increased in size reaching over 3.5 meters tall. Dark energy oozed from its eyes.
This was its real appearance. It appeared more dreadful. It waved its hand and a black tentacle shot towards Karl who immediately sliced it in half.
More and more started to shoot towards him. Seeing this, it held its sword high. Potent dark energy gathered around its tip. It lowered the sword towards Karl.
Swoosh
A dark beam shot towards him. Everything in its path was reduced to nothing. It continued towards a mountain.
Booooom
A gaping hole could be spotted in the mountain. It crumbled due to the impact.
Karl had managed to dorge as his danger sense kept alarming. This damn thing wanted to finish him in one go. He could see that it wasn't a combat type. If it was, he couldn't still be here alive.
He flashed and appeared behind it. Its huge body failed to react in time as he inserted the black crystal deeper into the back of its skull.
Immediately, the sky in New York darkened. Thunderous booms resounded in the sky.
It seemed as if something had angered the heavens.
Everyone looked at the sky in panic. No one knew what was happening. It was a normal day but the sky darkened in a split second followed by thunder and fierce lightning.
Civilians rushed into their houses seeking protection. At the supernatural side though, everyone stood where they were curiously looking at the sky.
Crimson lightning flashed. This was not the normal lightning they were used to since it carried destructive properties.
Karl managed to distance himself from the root cause. All the lightning seemed to be aiming at this skeleton for whatever reasons.
And then....
Booooooooom!!!!
A huge lightning strike descended upon it. It span 6 meters wide giving no route to escape.
A powerful shockwave, way stronger than what Karl had ever seen in life swept the place. It travelled hundreds of kilometers. Luckily they were very far from civilisation so no one was harmed though they felt the impact.
What was left was a pitch black crater as dark as the abyss. It span 200 meters wide, for the depth only the victim knew.
Crimson lightning flickered around the place.
He stretched out his hand and touched it. It was quickly absorbed into him. He felt slightly stronger.
Karl looked around at the lightning raiment and smiled. He snapped his figures and all the lightning was drawn towards him.
He felt a massive boost in strength. He turned towards the blade crystal suspended in air.
