Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

At Silver Field Academy, 12:30 a.m.

Everyone set out for their positions at this time. They were ready for the upcoming battle and were not fatigued.

Before they set out, they prayed to the gods to guide them and for them to be able to keep their lives when the battle ended.

It was dark, and they could barely see a thing, but they knew the enemy had arrived in their territory because of the overwhelming presence of the auras coming from the locations of the enemies.

"So close, yet so far," Malekith said.

-------------------------

Ethan was awoken by Finn by 6:00 a.m., much to his dismay. He felt incredibly miserable, and his burned hand, although it is halfway healed, still feels painful and quite heavy.

The uniform was given to him that morning. A white shirt with a dark blue blazer, black trousers, and a tie. The school's crest is on the left side of the blazer, and Ethan struggles to wear the uniform because of his hand, but still manages to do so.

There was just one problem. How is he going to wear the tie with one hand?

He walks out of his room and goes to Emily's room. "Emily!" he said, opening the door without knocking.

Emily was brushing her hair when Ethan came in, startling her. "What is it?" she asked, a bit annoyed. Ethan held the tie in his left hand.

"Can you help me knot my tie?" he asked.

"Why don't you ask Hadrian?" Emily replies.

Hadrian walks into the open room. "Emily, I don't know how to knot a tie either. Can you teach me?"

Emily sighed and said, "Can't you ask Finn?"

"No," Ethan replies almost immediately.

"I already asked him, but he's busy making breakfast," Hadrian replies.

-------------------------

Finn drops Ethan, Emily, and Hadrian off in front of their new school. "Oakwood High School," Emily said, reading the words boldly written in front of the school.

"It's small," Ethan said blankly.

Hadrian was surprised when Ethan said it was small. This school is huge! "I don't think it is small," Hadrian said.

"Well, compared to Silver Field, it is," Emily said, agreeing with Ethan.

They saw a buck beastman standing in front of the school's entrance. When he saw them, he walked over to them. "H-hello, my name is Daniel Brook, and I'll be your guide," the young buck said shyly. He has light brown hair, brown doe eyes, with freckles all over his face, and a small pair of horns sticking out of his head. He is slightly shorter than Emily, making him 5'5.

Emily gasped dramatically. "You are so cute!" she exclaimed, hugging him tightly, startling Daniel.

Ethan slaps his forehead with his slightly injured hand. "Seriously, Emily," he said in disbelief.

"Emily, please release our guide; he looks uncomfortable," Hadrian said helplessly.

Emily pouts childishly before letting him go.

Daniel's face was a bit red. "Follow me, please," he stammered in embarrassment.

Back at Silver Field Academy...

The army of the Dark Realm had already attacked. With less than fifty people defending Silver Field, it was difficult to face an army.

Reginald created traps around his area and waited for the enemies to step into them. He used his ability, 'Illusion Manipulation,' to draw some of the troopers on his side of the forest into his trap, killing them in the blink of an eye. It was uncomfortable killing them, but this is what he signed up for when he decided to work in Silver Field.

His ears picked up a sound, and he jumped off the tree he was hiding in before he was hit by a giant rock.

In front of him was a dark elf floating in the air. He had short, dark purple hair and dark blue eyes and was wearing a leather tunic and a pair of trousers. "Your reflexes are quicker than I thought," he said. "Killing you would please my Master."

Reginald scowls, his soft appearance slowly becoming a bit fierce. This opponent is quite strong. He takes several smoke bombs from his pouch and throws them to the ground, causing smoke to rise everywhere.

The elf was not amused by Reginald's trick; he cleared the smoke with his ability, 'Telekenisis'. But Reginald was nowhere to be found. He senses Reginald's aura coming from the trees.

"You can't run from me," he said, uprooting the trees. Reginald jumps out of the tree, and the elf sneers.

He swings one of the trees at Reginald, but the image fades away. He turned around when he sensed Reginald's aura again, but this time, there wasn't just one.

The elf felt a sharp pain on his side; there was a small knife sticking there. He sees Reginald standing in front of him, and he snarls. "You have to try harder!" he said angrily, using his telekenetic ability, wanting to hold the little rabbit in the air to kill him. But for some reason. It didn't work. Instead, it fades away.

What is going on?

Bang!

There was a hole in his chest. Then several shots came from all directions. Killing the elf brutally, without giving him time to think.

The real Reginald was hiding in a tree, waiting for the right moment. He never left the tree in the first place. Another one fell for the trap.

"I might need to change scenes," Reginald said in a soft voice. And so he did. His side, which was filled with uprooted trees, changed into a densely packed forest.

The illusion of his image disappears. He hears rustling. It seems the another is foolishly chasing after his illusions again.

'Hopefully the others aren't having much trouble fighting them.,' he thought, readying his gun again.

Crystella was fighting on her side of the forest. She wondered what Eli was thinking when he suggested that they should split up and cover different sections of the forest.

"He is the weakest among all of us," she said. "What makes him think that he's the leader?" she said angrily.

This attack would be the perfect opportunity to destroy Silver Field. But she is going to die if she doesn't fight them. If she runs away right now, she would be stripped of her Arc position, and her influence in the school would deplete.

Several orcs ran to her position, and she froze them, then shattered them like glass. "This is boring," she said.

She hears the sound of thunder, and her instincts scream danger. She creates an ice wall on her left side when lightning hits it, shattering it and pushing Crystella back.

She sees a vampire standing before her. She licks her lips. She has pale skin, purple eyes, and blood red lips. She is very beautiful. She was wearing black combat clothes, and her black hair was cutely short.

"Oh, you are quick," the vampire said. "And good looking as well," she said, observing Crystella. "I would like to keep you as a pet."

Crystella could tell this opponent is stronger than she was. She didn't expect to be fighting a vampire. "Sorry, you aren't my type," she said.

"That's what they all say," the vampire said, walking towards Crystella, who took a few steps back in defense. "My name is Mikaela Rogerwick of the Lightning Clan; what is your name?" she said.

"I don't have to answer to you," Crystella replies, creating a large snow flake that shoots out a cold blast.

The vampire disappears in the blink of an eye; the icy blast hits the trees behind her, freezing them and shattering them immediately. Crystella dodges to the side, barely in time for her neck to be hit.

She felt blood running down her neck, and the vampire appeared before her. A bit of her blood was on her nails, which she licked clean. "A half-blood," she said. "The sweetest kind there is."

Then she said, "The mix of a human and a snow fox beastman. Now I must keep you as a pet."

Crystella gathered herself. Nothing matters; she comes from a family of mecenaries. Her father would be disappointed if she didn't beat a mere vampire.

"Shut up," she said angrily. The ground rapidly freezes, and it begins snowing in that area. A white tail and ears popped out. Her combat clothes changed to white, and her canines were sharpened and her claws were elongated.

"Oh, it looks like we are getting serious," Mikaela said.

Eli felt a shiver down his spine and saw snowflakes in his area. "It seems Crystella is being serious," he said in a daze. He dodges an attack easily that was aimed at him.

"Oh," he said, looking at his enemy. A rage demon. He was brawly, with his veins popping in rage. "I thought you were tired already," Eli said.

The demon was already severely injured, with cut marks all over his body. The demon's breathing was heavy.

He had expected this to be easy. This human didn't have an aura; he didn't have any ability, and yet he was able to subdue him easily. It was as if his moves had been read before they happened, and his sword was made of light and poison.

"I don't think I need you alive to study your anatomy," Eli said, raising his knife. "Let's hope you get reincarnated into something a bit less ugly."

The demon got angry, but before he could react, Eli cut his head off.

Eli looks around. This is the only demon he has killed; hopefully more will come over. He's bored of killing orcs and goblins.
