Chapter 13: The Looting and the Intruders

Jana and her group spent an entire day preparing for their upcoming looting mission. They meticulously checked their weapons, stocked up on supplies, and ensured everyone was ready for the journey. Finally, they set off towards the next town, their vehicles maneuvering through the obstacles of destroyed cars along the way.

After a couple of days of travel, they arrived near the town. As they approached the entrance, they noticed a horde of zombies congregating, blocking their path. Jana quickly made the decision to divert their route and circle around to avoid the dangerous swarm.

Despite their detour, the outskirts of the town were still infested with zombies. The group braced themselves, preparing to engage in close combat to clear a path. With their melee weapons in hand, they fought their way through the relentless zombies, ensuring not to draw unnecessary attention to themselves.

After hours of intense fighting, they finally made it into the town. Kisse couldn't help but question the large number of zombies near the entrance. Garp pointed towards the looted police station, indicating that someone else had beaten them to it.

"Seems like that boy has been busy," Garp commented, earning a frustrated response from Kisse.

To make the best of the situation, Jana suggested focusing on looting the houses and other useful places in the town since the police station had already been raided. The group split up, carefully searching for supplies while keeping an eye out for any signs of other survivors or potential threats.

Meanwhile, at the mountain where Souta's group had settled, they were swiftly moving into the school. Rex reported back to Souta using walkie-talkie, informing him about a meeting.

Souta entered one of the classrooms to find Rex and the others waiting for him. They exchanged greetings, and Souta wasted no time in discussing their plan for looting the marketplace.

"Alright, let's get started with our plan for looting the town's marketplace," Souta suggested.

"The town, huh? Interesting choice," Roger commented.

"Yeah, we won't be able to grab everything in there with all the zombies roaming around, the town is large, larger than the one we went before" Souta explained.

"That's why we'll head straight to the weapon shop first. If we finish up quicker than expected, we can scout around for any potential bases nearby," Souta continued.

The group nodded in agreement, each member showing determination in their eyes. They were all prepared for whatever challenges lay ahead. After a few more days of preparation, they embarked on their journey towards the marketplace. The training the civilian recruits had undergone was paying off, as they could now effectively handle zombies. With a group of approximately 25 people, they made their way through the car-filled highway, encountering numerous obstacles that prolonged their journey.

As the evening fell, they reached the entrance of the marketplace, only to be met with a daunting sight—a swarm of zombies crowding the area. Souta made a quick decision to postpone their activities until the following morning, giving them time to rest and prepare for the challenging task ahead.

"The Town sure has lots of zombies, we should rest first, and tomorrow morning, well start looting the weapon shop," Souta said

At the break of dawn, they cautiously ventured into the marketplace, their primary target being the weapon shop. The shop proved to be heavily guarded by zombies, requiring them to rely on their melee weapons and bows to dispatch the undead quietly and efficiently.

They successfully cleared the area around the weapon shop, remarking on their good fortune that it was located away from the bustling marketplace. With the shop secured, they swiftly gathered the desired supplies, finishing their task ahead of schedule.

Curiosity piqued, and they decided to explore the marketplace further. Moving like a well-trained military unit, they took strategic positions on high ground, surveying the area with binoculars and sniping any zombies that posed a threat.

Despite their extensive search, they found no signs of survivors or additional resources.

his eyes widening as he whispered, "Hmm, this place sure is full of zombies."

Amy, her brows furrowed in concern, suggested, "How about we use the speaker and lure them away?"

Steff shook her head, her voice tinged with caution. "Handling this many zombies is too risky. One wrong move, and we're all dead."

They continued searching for supplies, the tension palpable in the air. Despite their efforts, they found nothing after hours of combing through the area.

They were about to leave when a sudden

"Alright, we should leav—" Souta began to say, but his words were cut off

Suddenly, gunshot rang out, catching their attention. Alert and cautious, they stealthily approached the source, witnessing a group of survivors nearby.

"Interesting, there are other groups here," Souta observed, taking cover on a nearby building rooftop.

The survivors they had stumbled upon were using people as bait while looting the stores. The screams of the helpless victims echoed through the air, sending chills down their spines. Souta's group, knowing the danger they faced, chose not to intervene, silently observing the scene unfold.

The leader-looking guy barked out, "Alright! As usual, use them!"

Souta's group watched in silence as the others callously used innocent people as bait to loot the stores nearby. The agonizing scream of one of the trapped individuals pierced the air, causing a shiver to run down their spines.

Amy's face contorted with concern, and she turned to Souta, asking, "Hey, should we help them?"

Steff, her expression stern, shook her head firmly. "No, we should leave them alone," she asserted, her voice unwavering.

Amidst the chaos, one of the looters spotted Souta's group and shouted, "Hey boss! There are people up there!"

The leader's eyes narrowed, and he bellowed, "What!? Shoot them!"

Without hesitation, Souta's group sprang into action, seeking cover behind nearby debris. They exchanged tense glances, their unspoken agreement cementing their course of action.

The situation escalated quickly, and a firefight ensued. As the sound of gunfire filled the air, the noise attracted more and more zombies, creating chaos for both groups.

"Boss, those zombies are being attracted to the gun fire!" One of his lackeys said

"Sh*t, hurry up and retreat!"

Realizing the dire circumstances, Souta immediately came up with a plan, "Rex! Follow them, the rest, let's retreat first. "

focusing on survival rather than engaging in a futile battle. They managed to disengage from the skirmish and regroup at the marketplace's entrance.

Under the cover of night, they returned to their camp, nursing their wounds and mourning their fallen comrade.

As the campfire crackled, Roger's voice turned somber. "We lost one of our own, and some got hurt. But you know what? Those guys weren't exactly sharpshooters, so they suffered more casualties than we did."

Souta, with a concerned expression, asked, "Did Rex make it back alright?"

Just then, Rex appeared at the edge of the camp. "Yeah, I'm back. We found their base, and let me tell you, they're a bunch of bloodthirsty savages."

"Damn, really?" Souta replied.

Rex nodded grimly. "Yeah, it's bad. They're not just fighters; they enjoy torturing people. They even resort to unspeakable acts against women and children."

Souta's face hardened. "What about their equipment?"

"They've ransacked the police station and the military rescue base. They're armed to the teeth," Rex confirmed.

Souta's eyes narrowed, contemplating the situation. "Do you think we can defeat them?"

Rex exchanged a knowing look with Roger before answering, "No doubt about it! They might have fancy weapons, but when it comes to real combat experience, they're nothing. Just a bunch of clueless civilians."

A glint of determination appeared in Souta's eyes and smirk. "Alright, then. We'll head back to base and rally more people. Tonight, under the cover of darkness, we'll strike them."

With newfound resolve, Souta announced their plan to return to their base, gather more people, and launch a raid on the enemy's base under the cover of darkness. The following morning, they set off for their base, unaware that they were being trailed by an unknown presence.

Little did they know, Sam, a member of the enemy group they had encountered, had tracked them to their base. Fueled by revenge, he gathered his own group and set out to raid Souta's town.

Sqm: "Boss, we've finally found where those punks are hiding."

Ho (the boss): "Really? Where are they holed up?"

Sam: "Just a small town a few kilometers away from the marketplace."

Ho: "Alright, Sam! You took a beating from those jerks, right? Get some people together, and let's pay 'em back with interest!"

Sam (grinning): "Haha, you bet! They're gonna regret ever messing with my crew."

The next day, Sam and his crew set off towards Souta's town, ready for action.

Sam and his group arrived at the town, searching every house and firing their guns in the air, creating an atmosphere of terror. Jana's group, aware of the intruders, hid and observed their actions from their secure location within the school.

"HAHAHAHAHA!! COME OUT YOU FCKING COWARDS!!!"

As Sam's group continued their search, their frustration grew. They found no signs of human presence except for the untouched principal's office. Growing impatient, Sam decided to confront the mystery head-on, shooting open the door and demanding their hidden foes to reveal themselves.

Minutes turned into hours, yet their search yielded no results.

"What the hell? Did they lure us into a fake base? Goddamit!"

Disheartened, Sam reluctantly ordered his group to retreat, returning to their base under the cover of night. However, upon their arrival,

"What the hell? Why aren't the lights on? We have generators with us, so why?" Sam then opened the light, there. They were greeted as they discovered the lifeless bodies of their comrades.

Sam's face turned red with anger as he shouted, "Who are you?! Where's my boss?"

There he saw Souta sitting on their thrown where his leader should be sitting

Souta raised his hands defensively and said, "Hey, my bad, my bad."

Then, to Sam's horror, Souta casually tossed his boss's head toward them.

"You looking for him?" Souta asked, a hint of mischief in his voice.

"You little shit! What have you done!? Kill him!" Sam roared, his hands trembling with rage.

Souta shrugged, a sly smile forming on his face. "Why not ask him?" he suggested, raising his hand

"In hell, that is," Souta calmly responded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.

Without a moment's hesitation, Souta's group opened fire, retaliating against Sam and his group. A chaotic gunfight erupted, and the odds were in Souta's favor. The encounter ended swiftly, leaving Sam defeated and desperate.

Reflecting on the events that unfolded, Souta sighed, realizing the consequences of Sam's ill-fated pursuit of revenge.

"What a shame," he murmured to himself, contemplating the path they had chosen in this unforgiving world.
