Chapter 4: The Twins

As morning arrived, Souta and the girls woke up from their night of sleep, which had been uneventful. They had spent the night together in bed but didn't engage in any intimate activities. Souta was the first to wake up and decided to rouse the girls from their slumber.

"Wake up," he gently shook, Amy

"Five more minutes," Amy lazily replied, still half asleep.

Steff, on the other hand, was already awake.

Souta went to the kitchen and returned with a pan, using it to create a loud noise by hitting it against something.

"Wake up!" Souta shouted.

Amy immediately woke up, startled. "Get ready! We'll start our training soon."

After around 30 minutes of preparing themselves, they headed to the backyard. Unbeknownst to them, there was a well with a water generator, providing them with a reliable water source.

"We will be jogging for three hours, okay?" Souta announced.

"Ehhh?" Amy protested in a lazy tone.

"Those who don't finish won't have breakfast," Souta warned.

"Why do we even have to train anyways? In a situation like this, it's a better option for us to save our energy in case of an emergency situation, " Amy said

"True, saving our energy instead of this training is much more ideal, but for us who live in a mountain where there is no zombies in sight, we don't actually have anything to do instead of train our body for the emergency situation" Souta said

"Also, If we just laze around and do nothing we can't even kill dozens of zombies, to at least able to learn how to handle our weapons is more ideal than saving our energy, we should improve our stamina and strength, this is the best option for us" Souta added

"I get your point, Amy, but Souta is also right." She smiled. "We should train our bodies to the limit, and you'll see the difference."

Amy sighed and reluctantly agreed. They began jogging for three straight hours until they were exhausted.

"Hah... Hah... Holy shit, having to jogging 3 hours non-stop is crazy! hah... hah... I can't do this anymore, my feets can only barely stand!" Amy said and sat on the ground

Souta and Steff are also exhausted, but weren't that worse, unlike Amy, "Oh, come on! Don't compare me to you guys! You'll have monster stamina! And Steff, where the hell did you get that kind of stamina!?"

"My father and I used to hike while I was still small, so I'm kinda used to it," Steff replied

"Ahh! this is unfair! How the hell can I obtain something crazy like that!" Amy said Angrily

"Don't get this down, you, Amy, you. You aren't sportive and barely go out inside your room, but don't worry! If we do this daily, you should be able to catch up to us in no time!" Souta said, making her motivated

"If you say so,"

They took a short break for 30 minutes before starting to prepare breakfast.

The food they cooked consisted of perishable items such as vegetables and fresh meat that would spoil quickly.

"Why are we cooking vegetables? I hate vegetables!" Amy said

"Sooner or later, electricity will be cut off, we may have generators here, but we shouldn't rely on that too much. We should cook foods that will easily get rot," Souta said

"But..."

"Don't worry, Amy, we know that you hate vegetables. That's why we also added meat into it for you to eat," Steff said

"I'm sorry that I'm picky and always say something if we do something..." Amy feeling down said that with a small voice

"It's okay Amy, no one knows that this tragic thing would happened and besides, I like it when you always told us your thoughts," Souta said, reassuring Amy.

"Same goes to me. If something is bothering you, just tell us we would look for a way to do something about it, okay?" Steff also reassured Amy

"Thank you, both of you. I promise, I will change for the better, " Amy said with a smile, They all eat their breakfast as soon as Souta finished cooking.

After breakfast, they resumed their training by practicing their weapon swings.

Souta had a katana, a baseball bat, and a pistol as his weapons. Steff had an axe, a kitchen knife, and a pistol. Amy carried an emergency axe and a pistol. Due to the limited supply of bullets, they decided not to practice shooting.

They swung their weapons for two hours before taking a break for lunch. They soon realized that swinging a sword or an axe was more physically demanding than they had anticipated. Their muscles ached, but they had no choice but to endure the pain.

In the afternoon, they focused on exercises to strengthen their muscles, such as push-ups and curl-ups, etc. They trained until it was already nighttime, completely exhausted. After a short break, Souta drove the pickup truck to cover the gate, using his driving skills learned from his father during his teenage years. Steff also knew how to drive, but Amy didn't.

At night, after finishing their dinner, they fell asleep promptly. The next morning, they repeated the same routine as the previous day. During lunch, they heard a gunshot in the distance.

"So they've begun, huh?" Souta remarked.

"What's that, Souta?" Amy asked with excitement.

"The military, right?" Steff replied.

Amy asked eagerly, "The military?! Then we're safe?"

Souta shook his head. "No, haha, do you still believe that the safe base the military builds is actually safe?"

Amy's face fell in disappointment. "Oh yeah... you're right. "

"Stop thinking about rescue, Amy. We can only rely on ourselves, and that's why we're doing this training," Souta reassured her.

"But aren't they the military? The government! It's still active, isn't it? Why isn't it safe?" Amy asked, wanting to know the answer

"It's easy. For those thousands survivors that have survived, do you think that the military can handle that? Also, it is given that one person will hide his bite mark, causing destruction to the military safe base," Steff said

"But if we already know this, shouldn't we just go there and tell them about what we know?"

"That isn't possible, we are an unknown students, do you think they would listen to what we say? Besides, they are conducting experiments for finding the cure, so it's given that they are also using zombies for experiments," Souta said

"I'm sure... that we're safe if we side to the military..." Amy said, wanting to go to the military

"They will only prioritize the rich and people who are useful anyways, so what's the point?" Steff said

"But..."

"Amy we get your point, and it is safe to the military base, but they can't provide us what we need, in a emergency situation like this there isn't equality, if you aren't important you'll get left behind, so it's better for us to stay here" Souta said

"Okay..."

After lunch, Amy stopped thinking about the safe base and adopted a mindset of "kill or be killed."" She became more focused during the training sessions.

At night, after their training, they returned to their bedroom and once again slept in the same bed. In the middle of the night, Souta woke up to find Amy trying to initiate intimacy. Unbeknownst to him, Steff had already been awake and joined them. In the morning, the two girls were in a good mood.

They continued their usual training routine, swinging their weapons in the backyard. As they practiced, they noticed planes and helicopters flying overhead. Amy waved at them

enthusiastically, while Souta and Steff observed her with joy.

During lunch, Souta suggested taking the bikes they had hidden for future use. The idea was well-received, and they decided it would be beneficial for their survival. After lunch, they loaded the bikes onto the pickup truck and drove towards the mountain where they were hidden. The journey was uneventful, and they successfully retrieved the bikes.

Back at the mansion, they resumed their training. Several days passed without any significant occurrences. The sounds of gunshots gradually subsided, and it became quiet.

One evening during dinner, Souta addressed the group. "We've been staying here for several days, and our food supply is almost depleted. Tomorrow, we'll go to the gas station and nearby houses to scavenge anything useful."

The next morning, with their stamina improving after several days of training, they dressed in clothes they had found in the mansion that fit them. They set out early in the morning, using the pickup truck as transportation.

After an hour of driving, they arrived at the gas station, finding it devoid of zombies due to its distance from the town. They collected useful items from the store and filled several gallons of gas. Their strategy for encountering zombies was for Souta to lead from the front, with Steff supporting him and Amy guarding the rear.

While looting a nearby convenience store,  a room where a young woman in her twenties was unconscious behind bars. She wore a blue jacket as her coat, appearing in a state of despair in the dark and cold prison, but that story will be discussed another time

"With all these supplies, we should be able to survive at least 1 month," Souta said

"That's great!" Amy said

"But these aren't enough," Steff said

"Ehh, why?" Amy asked

"That's because it can only keep us 1 month, we should look at the houses nearby."

After gathering supplies from the gas station, they proceeded to the nearby houses, both to scavenge and gain experience in killing zombies. As they reached the fourth house, "this is the fourth house already, yet there aren't any zombies nor canned foods," Amy said

"That might be because they all have gone to the military safe base," Steff said

"The safe base..."

"Get ready, I'm going to open the door,"

As soon as the door opened, they spotted two zombies. The two zombies suddenly emerged, running towards Souta and attacking him.

Souta quickly dispatched one of the zombies by stabbing it in the head with the katana. The group decided to use the second zombie for experimentation. Souta kicked the zombie away

"It might be better for the both of you to leave the house," Souta suggested

"I'll watch," Steff said

"If Steff is staying, then I'll stay too!" Amy said

"It's your choice." When the zombie again ran towards Souta, he used his katana to cut off its hands. The zombie didn't feel any pain and just continued to rush towards Souta

Souta theb cut it's feet, the zombie are laying on the ground without feet and hands, yet still strangle to bite Souta.

Souta  even stabbed its heart, but it continued to move. "What the hell..." Souta said  disgusted, Only when he stabbed its head did it finally stop.

Amy and Steff saw something weren't barable into the eyes, Steff immediately left the house to get some fresh air, Amy however rush to leave the house and puke.

"We should have only listened to Souta," Steff said

"Caugh caugh, you're right," Amy said

Souta searched the house and nothing. He then got outside. Are you two okay?" Souta asked

"Somehow," Steff replied

"I can't stand it! It's the worst, " Amy replied

Souta giggled. "I've warned you,"

"How are you okay?" Amy asked

"Welp, because I'm a man?" Souta replied

"Being a man and a woman has nothing to do with something like this," Steff said

"Let's just forget about that and move to the next house, I can go alone if you two aren't still feeling well," Souta suggested

"I'll go. It's dangerous to go alone," Steff said

"How about you, Amy?" Souta asked

"I'll also come, I don't want to be alone in here," Amy said

They moved on to the next house, walking cautiously.

"This will be the last house," Souta declared.

"My god, I'm still not used to seeing human organs," Amy exclaimed, feeling nauseous.

"This is the last one, so don't worry," Steff assured her. "And besides, I also feel the same way, who would stand seing human organs anyway,"

"Well..." They both look to Souta

Souta attempted to open the door but found it locked. "Let me borrow your axe," Souta requested

Steff gave it to her, then Souta swung the axe to the door, making an opening to grab the nub and forcefully opening it.

Souta was  ready to face any zombies inside. However, instead of zombies, they encountered a fearful middle-aged man hiding inside.

"Are you the rescue team?" the man asked with his hope high.

"No," Souta replied.

"Then, can you help me out?" the man pleaded.

"Why?" Souta inquired.

"Come on, we're fellow humans," the man appealed.

Souta and the girls looked at him with disgust.

"So, it won't work, huh? How about a trade?" The man  proposed.

"What trade?" Souta asked.

"Hey, come out!" the man shouted.

Souta unsheathed his katana, prepared for a fight.

"Wait, no, no, no," the man backtracked hastily.

Two twin sisters, around fifteen years old, emerged from the room. They appeared thin and showed signs of being mistreated.

"You can have them as long as you take me to the safe zone," the man proposed, his tone oozing confidence.

Souta remained skeptical. "How should I know they're in good shape?" following the man's script

"They will listen to any command you give them. You can use them as bait or for anything you like. And more importantly, they are still virgins," the man emphasized, his face twisted with depravity.

"Where did you find them? What happened to their parents?" Souta demanded.

"Their parents were on vacation, and they entrusted me with their care. No one expected this disaster to occur," the man explained nonchalantly.

"I see," Souta approached the twins, inspecting their faces and observing them silently.

"Good, I'll take the offer," Souta decided.

"Hehe, that's what I'm talking about," the man grinned wickedly.

"But, Souta!" Amy protested, but Steff covered her mouth before she could continue.

"You sure have fine girls with you," the man approached Amy and Steff, both of them back down.

"Hehe," Souta feigned agreement, and when the man drew near the girls, Souta swiftly stabbed him in the back where his heart was located.

"What a shame," Souta said coldly as he withdrew his sword from the man's body.

Souta turned to the twins. "What are you going to do now?"

They remained silent.

"Steff, Amy, check their bodies for bite marks. You know what to do if you find any. Meanwhile, I'll search the house for anything useful." Souta said with a cold tone and cold eyes

Amy got goosebumps from it, with the face that Souta make is not normal, he is like a phyco, they said that it is only the start that you feared to move or do it but after you did it you won't even give a damn.

Will this also apply to Souta, who have already killed a human being and won't even bother killing another...? Amy thought to herself.

After an hour, Souta returned with a compound bow and arrow, along with an air gun.

"Lucky! Look what I found," Souta exclaimed with joy.

"Is that a bow and an air gun?" Amy asked in surprise.

"Yes," Souta confirmed.

"Our father was a hunter," one of the twins spoke weakly.

The group looked at the twins inquisitively.

Amy approached them gently, "Are there also other weapons your father have?" She asked nicely

"Yes, there's also a rifle hidden inside that painting," the younger looking twin pointed to a painting on the wall.

Souta removed the painting, revealing a metal box with a code lock.

"Do you know the password?" Souta inquired.

The younger twin walked over and requested a chair or something to stand on so she could unlock the box.

"Can you give a chair or something to step on so I can reach it?" She asked

Souta obliged, he gave her one of the chairs on the kitchen, "Thank you," she said, and after a few minutes, the code lock clicked open.

"Here, I have opened it. You can take a look," she said as she went down the chair

Souta opened the box. Inside, he found a rifle, two military knives, a pistol, and dozens of boxes of ammunition. The group was astonished by their discovery.

"Seriously?" Amy exclaimed.

"You can take it all, but in exchange take us both with you and keep us safe from any danger, I don't want my sister to feel that kind of torture anymore" She said with a fixed resolve on her face

Souta, look at Amy and Steff, "It's your choice, you're the leader, so make the decision," Steff said

"I agree with Steff!" Amy said

Souta smiled, "Okay then, I agree to this deal," as they both shake hands
