"We'll have you discuss your progress in research, teaching, and service. Then we'll give you our feedback. Let's start with your research to date." Dr. Ellison lifts a notepad, uncaps her fountain pen, and looks at you expectantly.
You launch into a description of your research into feral patterns. You don't get far when Wilcox interrupts, "I heard you dismissed your undergraduate advisee's research contributions."
You clear your throat. "That's not quite true. Gabriel had a theory based on Dr. Blankenship's previous work, but I wanted him to focus on the feral pattern research I described in my interviews."
"What?" Wilcox sounds as scandalized as if you'd shown up to this meeting in your underwear. "Dr. Blankenship was an esteemed scholar and a valuable member of this department. To dismiss his insight, even if it came via an undergraduate, is foolish."
Eze doesn't look up during this exchange. Dr. Ellison, however, says, "Let us allow Dr. . to finish describing his progress before we critique, please, Dr. Wilcox."
Wilcox settles back. "Fine, Chloe."
Feedback After, Huh?
