"Dr. Whipple. I'm so sorry I missed our scheduled interview. You can imagine how bad I feel about it."
"I can, yes." Dr. Whipple gathers up her notepad and places it in a leather messenger bag. "And I'm sure you can imagine how frustrating it is to have a promising candidate decide not to show up."
"I do, absolutely." You fall in step behind Dr. Whipple, who walks out of the room like she's about to break through a finish line ribbon. "I wouldn't have done it without a very good reason. I was trapped in my room by a pattern."
Dr. Whipple stops. You nearly collide with her. "If that's so, then you've learned an important lesson. The world of practitioners can be unfair, even cruel. You need to learn to protect yourself. If you can't handle a simple prank, then how will you handle the Practicum when they tear into your work?"
You're left in the middle of the hall, watching your opportunity walk away with Dr. Whipple.
