In response, Lady Rastan simply looks at you. Her face is expressionless while, at the same time, expressing everything that she's thinking extremely eloquently.
None of it is particularly complimentary.
Several possibilities of what you might respond with flash through your mind and then burn, unsaid, in the face of Lady Rastan's calm gaze.
Before you can come up with anything to say, Lady Rastan vanishes. Not as in "walks away really fast," but more in an "into thin air" kind of way. You get the feeling that she'll have a great deal more to say to you the next time you meet each other.
You shake the moment from your mind. You have preparations to make, and whatever comes next, you doubt that you can afford to be rattled.
As you head towards the front door, followed by Michelle and Renault, you hear the sound of raised voices in the distance. You hesitate, but it's hard to shake the feeling that you should be moving out already, and if you took a detour to avoid every unpleasant sound in Cavalcade Academy, you might as well give up on getting anywhere.
You draw closer, which allows you to pick out the individual voices. They're both female, and after a moment, you realize that one of them is Sonia's. The corridor turns to the left, and then you're walking towards the scene.
The first speaker is, indeed, Sonia; she's glaring at Val. Both of them turn, fangs visible, as they hear your approach, and you hesitate, stopping with one foot held off the floor.
"Human," Sonia says, shooting you an unfriendly glance. "Something we can help you with?"
