"Not quite yet, boy."
You freeze. It's as though the voice has held you completely in place, though whether it's from terror or some other power in the voice, you couldn't say.
Eventually, you're just about able to turn around, an action that brings you face-to-face with Lady Rastan. She's looking at you with the expression of someone who's already found you guilty of any number of crimes.
The space around you, which was so occupied with students only a few moments before, is now deserted. Aside from Michelle and Renault, everyone appears to have remembered something extremely important that they need to be doing elsewhere.
"Good morning, Lady Rastan."
"Mm." The vice principal seems entirely unimpressed. "I have been apprised of the situation by Matron; they have informed me of what you intend to do."
You nod. It feels as though volunteering anything in this situation is just giving her more rope to hang you with.
"However," Lady Rastan goes on. "I wanted to check on the progress of your other assignment." At your blank look, she sighs. "I refer, of course, to your attempts to build a sense of community between the vampire and werewolf students. How is that task going?"
