Michelle considers you for a moment. One eyebrow rises. This time, it's certainly not an unexpected flare of feeling.
"Maybe you're right," she says eventually. "Then again, it's not something that I imagine most people could stay detached from: death, rebirth, and parenthood."
"Or maybe it's worth devoting some thought to," you say. "Not for them, but for you. You could think about what you do want."
Michelle's expression offers no clue as to what she's thinking: the perfect poker face. "Maybe," she says, her voice level.
After a moment, Michelle turns back towards the school, beginning to stride over the grass towards the imposing building. You follow her, moving quickly to catch up.
