You cross your arms, remaining where you are. If you're going to make no progress, you can at least do so without expending energy. Eventually, someone is going to come out and look for you, and presumably, they'll bring some sort of solution with them.
As far as you can tell, this doesn't have to be your problem.
Around you, the breeze suddenly rises, turning into an honest wind that continues to grow in intensity. Leaves and debris swirl around you, whipping at your face and making your eyes water, and you're finally forced to close them just to get some relief.
You stand there, in self-imposed darkness, until the strong wind gradually dies down and you feel it's safe to open your eyes again.
When you do, it takes an effort to remain upright.
What you see in front of you is not the view you closed your eyes on. Instead of the dual lines of trees, you're now looking at wilder, darker greenery, with branches extending over the path in front of you. The effect is so disorienting that you have to close your eyes again, doing your best to suppress the wave of nausea that passes over you.
Finally, however, you're able to gather yourself and continue on.
The path you're on remains entirely mundane, though there's little enough to tell you how close you are to your destination or whether you're on the right track. If you're going to have school grounds that try to rewrite the laws of reality, you can't help but think, then there should be maps provided as well, or at least some helpful signs.
Just as you're starting to wonder whether this path even leads to the school, you see a light up ahead, warm and welcome in the darkness.
You quicken your pace, telling yourself it'll only be a little farther before you can stop, sit down, and try not to think about the previous thirty minutes.
