Yes, you decide. That is exactly what you need.
You keep walking, keeping an ear out for the sound of paws on the ground. It's not long before you reach a large willow tree in your path, its curtain of leaves blocking your view of the way ahead.
You hesitate, wondering what this could be. It seems too much to hope that there's not going to be anything unpleasant on the other side of these leaves; there's optimism, and then there's just a refusal to be realistic. On the other hand, you do have to get to the school. The thought of camping out here overnight doesn't hold much appeal.
You step up to the canopy of leaves, trying to remain as silent as possible. Even before you've reached the leaves and branches, a cold female voice sounds from the other side.
"Let me make this easier for you," the voice says. "I can hear you. I can smell you. You're not going to be able to hide from me, so all you're doing now is wasting my time and yours. So do me a favor and get where I can see you."
You push forward through the leaves and branches. You don't seem to have much choice in the matter.
As you emerge from the greenery, you see a slim figure leaning against the trunk of the willow. Her back is turned towards you, but you can still see that her eyes are casting a red glow over the area.
After a moment, the vampire turns to look at you, gazing out of a pair of crimson eyes.
