"Alpha!"
I jumped from the seat on which I was nestled in the massive balcony at my chamber and turned to the direction from which the loud call was coming.
It was Ben approaching.
"Ben," I said, waiting for him to stop and break whatever news he brought for me.
He stopped before me, breathing heavily. He must have come with a pile of bad news.
"What is it?" I asked.
"We have bad news." He announced.
From what I could see, his eyes were wide in despair, and his pulse was thumping faster than it ever did.
I signalled him to sit and rest before breaking the bad news he brought for me.
He raised his eyebrows in surprise as though I had just done another crazy thing, but he obeyed anyway and sat down.
I waited for him to cool off before I shot him a go-on glance.
"The healers' chamber reported that Jenna was assassinated last night."
This was the worst bad news I ever got so far.
