I looked around at the surreal sight before me. Dozens of huge oak trees with a width of ten or more meters fill my vision as they drive up into the sky. The wind slowly breaks the thick canopy above allowing speckles of light to seep through.
The ground is a mix of dead leaves and mosses. The air has a slightly green mist a few meters above the ground that twinkles giving this surreal scene something more arcane. There are a few ferns and lichen here and there making it less sparse.
I marvel at this supernatural site before me. There's the odd rock here and there along with a few patches of bright blue glowing mushrooms. I revel in the smells as I take in this amazing view. I then began to laugh with joy realizing that what the genie had promised was actually true and not just a hallucination.
I then just decided to follow my gut which was telling me to walk in a certain direction. I realized I was pretty overpowered because not only do I have the ability to instantly apparate like in harry potter. But I also have the same powers as Domino or Mr. Bean in the fact that everything will go my way. I hope that's the case anyway.
I just shook my head and decided to test out my teleportation. I immediately find myself back to where a was ten seconds ago but with absolutely nothing on. As I hear a thump from my clothes hitting the ground. Well, that's embarrassing.
I immediately put my now damp clothes back on and began to walk again. After about ten minutes of walking, I came across an abandoned camp. The fire looks long put out and the two tents seem to have collapsed. I gulp when I see that one of the tents seems to have been mauled with dried blood stains on it.
It seems that this place may be more dangerous than its appearance suggests. I began to search the camp looking for anything of use. I found a few clothes which I decided to put in my bag as well as a few coins of various sizes. The rest is mostly just junk or stuff I have the better modern equivalent of.
I found a nice-looking dagger which looks like one you'd see Rambo using. I pop that onto my belt. I'm currently wearing black jeans and a grey T-shirt since I don't want to stand out too much. Once I've scavenged the camp as much as I can I begin to walk in an arbitrary direction.
Luck was definitely the most overpowering thing ever. I mean look at what domino did in the comics. She could take down the hulk just by accidentally hitting him in a few spots. But then again there was that squirrel girl defeats Thanos one.
How did I get into comics anyway I pondered while walking through the forest. Oh, yeah, I was reading some webnovel when I found the Superman x Gotham gay love fanfic. Up until that point I had only really seen western comics occasionally. I laughed so hard when I saw that it sent me down the rabbit hole of bad gay love fanfictions. Obi wan x Grievous. Sasuke x Naruto. Hitler x Himmler. The list goes on. And it just gets more and more fucked up as we go down the list.
I shake my head as I continue to walk, eventually the forest begins to become sparser, with the trees becoming smaller and smaller. Soon, that green mist eventually dissipates, and I'm just stuck in a grass land, with the odd sapling, shrub, and rock. I just continue walking for what feels like hours. I'm just glad I have some hiking boots and that I'm fairly fit for the last year since I had to compete with 747 even if slightly.
Eventually I find a random road which just so happens to be made of dirt. Yay. Who doesn't love a good dirt road. I just randomly pick which way to go and begin to walk. As I do so I'm thinking of what kind of fighting style I should use.
I then realize if I should see if I can teleport to a place near me without actually going there. I blink and find myself about five meters in front of where I was standing before after a few minutes of trial and error. It seems I have like a roughly five-meter bubble around me which counts as where I have been.
I continue to walk as I think about what this means. I eventually end up settling on a style that should work and make the best use of my abilities. I would need to train a bit though. Eventually I came across a village. I shrugged and decided to see if I could speak the language.
I walked up to the villages Palisade and asked one of the guys with a spear. "What village is this?"
The man looked at me with a hint of suspicion and spoke. "Why would you head down a road if you didn't know where you were going? This could be an occultist stronghold."
I just rub the back of my head as I say. "Sorry, about that. I found myself in the woods with no idea how I got there. I just followed this road I found and picked a random direction. Can I stay in your village tonight?"
"Fine, go speak to the chief. We don't have any accommodations for travelers. Usually, merchants just stay at his house since it has some extra rooms. You'll have to pay him though." He said as he opened the huge gate with ease and motioned me in.
He directed me to the chief's house, and I walked through the village. The walls were made of stone for the first floor and if there was a second it was wood. There were maybe one or two glass windows here and there. The roofs were all thatched as well. I knocked on the door of the house he had directed me to.
Th chief and his family welcomed me in and gave me something to eat after I explained the situation. I then got curious about something and asked. "How does this village make money, their where no fields as I approached?"
He seemed surprised at the question and answered, "Because the Kingdom has put a warding spell around the great forest which prevents stronger beasts from exiting. It allows us to have herds and flocks in these grasslands which are full of magical energy which makes them unsuitable for growing crops but perfect for raising animals since there is a chance, they might evolve into a higher form which can be sold for more. Also, we breed a lot of horses as well, some evolve into dire horses which are sold to nobles and the army. The stronger normal horses are sold to merchants and everyone else and the rest are sold for meat like the males of the other species."
I thanked him for the explanation and walked around the village chatting with various people for a bit. Towards one side of the village were dozens of barns and pens. I'm guessing that's where they keep the livestock at night. I watched as dusk began to set in as the hundreds of cattle, sheep and weird things which looked like dinosaurs were all brought into the village. The cows were all milked and I decided to help with that since it was something I kind of knew how to do. I got lightly kicked once by a cow called Delila, but she settled down when I became a bit less rushed.
The food was a meat stew which tasted brilliant even though the purple and orange vegetables were unidentified. The next morning there was a mix of eggs and sausage made from the meat of the dinosaur looking thing which was called a Lesser Earth Dragon and looked like an Iguanodon. It tasted like a mix of venison and turkey which was wired but it was well spiced.
"I thank you for your hospitality, but this is all I can give in return." I said as I passed the chief everything but the gold coin I had. There were three silver ones, a bluey silver one, three copper ones and a several dozen even smaller copper ones.
He just shook his head and handed it back to me and spoke. "No, it is fine. You have been kind and polite unlike those merchants with a stick up there a… I mean butts." He said as his wish glared at him, and the five kids all giggled. He then continued. "Not, only that you've helped us yesterday as well. A merchant will arrive in a few days, and he can take you from here to the town of Amber crest."
I agreed and said I didn't mind staying for a few days. All in all, it was relaxing, and I mostly just chopped some wood, tended to some herbs, and helped muck out the barns. Some might find this disgusting but I found it all relaxing. No phone. No burdens. Just doing work for the sake of getting a job well done.
Eventually the merchant came and agreed to take me to Amber crest. I felt a sense of loss leaving the tiny village of Elm, but I realized I had a whole world to explore and break.
