Chapter 23 - Chapter 6

The others in the room were perplexed by Ercale's words, unable to grasp the meaning behind them. Xain, like everyone else, found himself pondering, *What in the world does isekaied mean?* Ercale, catching Xain's question, reiterated his familiar response, *I'll explain later.*

Ercale maintained his piercing gaze on the boy he had restrained by the throat and asked, "How long have you been in this place?" The boy, his voice strained and tears welling in his eyes, managed to respond, "Two years." Witnessing the boy's pain, Xain could no longer tolerate the situation and forcefully withdrew his hand. Frustrated, Ercale voiced his annoyance, exclaiming, "Damn it! Just let me take control!"

Azure, observing the unfolding scene, remained perplexed by Xain's behavior. *What is going on with him?* he wondered, unable to comprehend the sudden shift. Despite the chaotic situation, a thought crossed Azure's mind, considering the opportunity to escape. However, he quickly dismissed the idea, realizing the futility of such an endeavor. *If I try to escape now, he'd probably kill me,* Azure concluded, his fear outweighing any thoughts of resistance.

Xain, determined to find a peaceful resolution, urged Ercale to engage in a conversation rather than resorting to violence. "Lets just talk to him, Ercale. We don't have to get physical," Xain implored, his voice carrying a tone of reason. Ercale, his anger still simmering, reluctantly relented. "Fine, just stop doing this," he responded, his frustration evident.

Ercale released his grip on Genji's throat, allowing him to catch his breath. As the boy gasped for air, Xain took the opportunity to address him directly. "What's your name?" Xain asked, his voice calm and curious. Genji, still looking around the room, responded, "Genji. Takeshi Genji."

"And what kind of 'gift' did that pathetic excuse of a goddess give you?" Ercale barked out, his voice filled with disdain. Genji, feeling the weight of the question, asked in return, his voice trembling with nervousness, "Are you also like me?" His eyes, though filled with a sense of hope, still carried a haunting emptiness.

"Don't compare me with you. We're nothing alike, now answer the question" Ercale responded harshly, his words laced with contempt.

*Ercale, why are you so angry?* Xain asked Ercale, his thoughts directed inward. *Because if these people still exist, then I will have to start another war,* Ercale replied, his voice carrying a mixture of frustration and resignation. Xain couldn't help but feel a sense of unease at Ercale's words, remembering the potential consequences of his presence in this world.

"I can't tell you. If I do, I'll get punished," Genji responded, his voice trembling with fear. Valien, with a hint of amusement in his tone, chimed in, "So, there's someone above you, huh? Well, if that's the case, my list of people to kill just keeps growing." His words carried a chilling edge, and his eyes glimmered with a sinister intent.

Xain, noticing Genji's fear, tried to reassure him, saying, "Hey, calm down. Don't worry about someone coming after you. Erkie and I can take care of them." Ercale, growing increasingly irritated by Xain's use of the nickname, snapped back, "If you call me that one more time, I swear I will pick up that damn gun and shoot both of us in the head!" Despite Xain's attempt to comfort him, Genji remained on edge, his fear seemingly unaffected by the reassurance.

Ercale, still annoyed by Genji's lack of cooperation, pressed further, asking, "Fine, if you can't tell me what 'gift' she gave you, just answer this: Are you on her side?" Genji, his voice trembling, replied, "I... I just want to go back." Ercale let out a weary sigh, sensing the despair in Genji's words, and said, "I think I can guess what 'gift' she gave you." Xain, growing increasingly perplexed by Ercale's cryptic statements, questioned him internally, *What are you talking about?* However, Ercale ignored Xain's inquiry and directed his attention back to Genji.

"I can't send you back, but I can end it permanently," Ercale declared. Genji, looking up at Ercale with eyes filled with hope and desperation, pleaded, "Please, do it. I don't want to go on anymore. I can't go on anymore."

Xain, still unable to comprehend the gravity of the situation, mustered the courage to seek clarity. *Can you just tell me what you are about to do at least?* he asked, his voice filled with uncertainty and concern.

Ercale, breaking his usual pattern of silence, responded directly to Xain's inquiry. *I'm going to destroy his soul so he can rest permanently,* Ercale declared, his hands emitting a sinister purple aura as they moved closer to Genji.

Xain quickly pulled back, refusing to let Ercale carry out his plan. "I'm not going to let that happen!" Xain declared firmly.

Despite Xain's declaration, Genji looked at him with contempt, his eyes filled with pain and despair. "There are two of you in that body, isn't there? Why are you interfering? I don't want to live anymore. Please, just let the other one end it," he pleaded, his voice trembling with anguish. Xain, deeply affected by Genji's words, felt a mix of empathy and frustration. "No, I won't just let you die. I don't know what you've been through, but giving up is not the solution. I..." Before Xain could continue, Genji erupted, his voice filled with anguish and desperation.

"Shut up! I don't care about what you think. My life has been nothing but misery. In Japan, I suffered, and when I was brought here, it only got worse. Every day was filled with pain, almost every moment I feared for my life, and no matter what I tried, something bad always happened, no matter what I did, I always suffered. I'm tired of suffering. Just let me die. End this, because if you want me to live, all you're doing is prolonging my torture!" Genji's words hung in the air, his exhaustion evident.

Xain was left speechless, unsure of how to respond. Azure stood silently, unsure of what to make of the situation, while Valien, with a faint smile, observed the scene with a twisted amusement.

Ercale, no longer hindered by Xain's resistance, firmly grasped Genji by the shoulders and began uttering words in an unknown language. The air around them crackled with an otherworldly energy as Genji's body started to emit a radiant glow. With each passing moment, Genji experienced a level of pain he had never thought possible, a torment that surpassed the boundaries of his understanding. And yet, amidst the excruciating agony, a glimmer of relief and acceptance flickered in his eyes. He found solace in the knowledge that all of his suffering would finally come to an end, and he would find the rest he had long yearned for.

He began to reminiscent his life filled with pain...
