Myles lunged forward, using one of the assailants as a human shield to back away from the other attackers. His heart pounded in his chest as he tried to assess the situation, but before he could make his escape, a sharp sting at the back of his neck sent shivers down his spine.
"Oh no..." Myles gasped, dropping the man to the ground and reaching for the dart-like bullet protruding from his neck.
The poison began to take effect, and Myles felt his strength waning. His vision blurred, and he struggled to stay on his feet, swaying from side to side as he fought against the wooziness.
With sheer determination, Myles turned around to confront the assailant responsible for the dart. It was the same man he had encountered on the mountain side, the one with a personal vendetta against him.
"You..." Myles managed to utter, his voice a mix of anger and disbelief, before the assailant's fist connected with his jaw, sending him crashing to the ground, unconscious.
When Myles woke up, he found himself in a tightly sealed facility that bore an uncanny resemblance to CREED headquarters. The room was bright, with pure white walls and advanced equipment spread throughout. There were screens all round displaying his vitals and other data as well.
"Uhrrgg," Myles groaned, attempting to move, as he tried reaching for his head. He realized had been firmly secured on a platform, with his hands chained on the opposite sides of the structure, restricting his movement and forcing him to his knees.
Stripped of most of his clothing, Myles tried to comprehend the situation, wondering if he was caught in some neural simulation as he was laced with several wires and straps all around the upper regions of his body.
Desperately scanning the room for signs of life, he discovered several sentinels working diligently at various stations.
His attempt to stand up was thwarted by the chain around his neck, rendering him immobile. Undeterred, he pulled on the chains repeatedly, creating a cacophony of clanging and bangs that drew the attention of everyone in the room.
A moment later, the door hissed open, and a figure entered the hall with heavy, deliberate footsteps that echoed ominously. When the figure finally approached, Myles raised his head and gasped in disbelief.
"Denumbit!" Myles exclaimed.
Indeed, it was Isaac Denumbit, the former Agent of Creed, now standing before him, relishing his captive's plight.
"The great Agent Nitro," Denumbit sneered with a bone-chilling voice. "How far the mighty have fallen."
Myles was stunned, unable to find the right words to respond to the betrayal before him.
"We've been watching you for some time, Myles. Your mother would be proud of the man you've become." Denumbit proclaimed, a sinister gleam in his eyes.
Confused and outraged, Myles confronted Denumbit,
"We? You're truly crazy, you betrayed everyone back at CREED all for what? Power? I knew you were working with the syndicate."
"Haha, you thought this was about power? You really have no idea what is coming," Denumbit chuckled.
"What are you talking about?" Myles questioned.
Denumbit walked up close to Myles grabbing his chin and observing his wounded face, "Brave little boy, your agency's narrow perspective has failed you. Everything that has happened up till now is a part of a perfectly orchestrated plan, it was all meant to lead down to this very moment." Denumbit explained
"I think it's time to broaden your scope," Denumbit taunted.
Just then, a sentinel approached holding a tablet in it's hand as it vocalized, "it is ready Mr Isaac."
"Begin the sequence!" Denumbit commanded as he backed up, moving a few feet further away from Myles.
Immediately, machines in the room clicked on and whirling sounds echoed across it's walls.
"Today, marks the end of your gang and their little party, Myles" Denumbit affirmed.
Immediately, the chamber holding Myles got filled up with charged particles causing unpredictable sparks and disorienting strikes in his skin. In all his years of experience, he had never been left so defenseless, Denumbit seemed to have anticipated every action Myles and the agency could have taken.
Today, you shall witness the beginning of a new era, a new dawn for humanity and all of existence," Denumbit proclaimed
Just then, a large screen facing Myles chimed on and the bright interface came to life. It displayed an overview satellite imagery and map rendition of the location of the current CREED HQ along with a realtime satellite feed.
Myles was astonished, unable to comprehend how Denumbit had such precise information.
"How.... How do you know..." Myles stuttered as he stared up at the screen.
"Facing CREED was never a challenge for me, I only needed a way to take their interests away from me. A well devised and convincing plan that would allow me ease off the marker on me. I never died Myles." Denumbit explained.
"I don't believe it..." Myles muttered in disbelief. "You had us all fooled!" He exclaimed.
"A new dawn begins today Myles. After this day, things will be different," He added.
"I have to get out of here!" Myles bickered with the chains as he pulled with all his might.
On the screen, a red blinking dot emerged, travelling through the map, a trajectory fixed on the location of the underground HQ of CREED.
"No! No! This can't be happening! What are you doing?" Myles shouted.
It was a missile set in projectile for the CREED HQ.
"No, please, stop!" Myles pleaded.
"Watch as your legacy crumbles," Denumbit replied.
"All these years you've only tried and tried to delay inevitable, we all knew this moment will eventually come." Denumbit stated.
Denumbit reveled in his moment of power as the missile approached the HQ. The projectile scaled through the remaining distance on the map and drew closer and closer to the trajectory.
Suddenly it hit the mark on the map and a cascade of beeps ensued in the room.
On the satellite feed of the location, a sudden bust of energy overtook the area, scattering dust and releasing flames that engulfed everywhere. The missile hit the ground decimating everything in it's path, causing a massive explosion that completely obliterated every ounce of life in about a 5 mile radius.
The force of the explosion quaked the earth, causing wide cracks on the surface of the earth. It left behind, a massive crater and a cloud of smoke where the CREED HQ once stood.
