"Knock knock." A teenage girl about 19 years old suddenly entered the classroom.
To which the whole class replied, "Who's there?"
"Miss Emelyn." The female teacher smiled.
"Good morning, Miss Em!" The students happily chirped back. Miss Emelyn was Class 1B's history teacher. 'Miss Em' was a nickname given to the female teacher by Ryuda several years ago and now the students called her that as well. "Where is Sir Ryuda?" Miss Emelyn cheerfully asked.
"Teacher just went out…Did Miss Em want to invite him out to lunch again?" One of the students replied.
"Hm? Nonsense! What makes you say that?" Miss Emelyn retorted while blushing.
"Well, every time Miss Em talks about him, a dreamy look appears on your face. Every time he's about to head out for lunch, you would always invite him to have lunch with him to which he always politely rejected. Also, also–"
As the students continued to share their findings about their history teacher, the broadcasting system came on.
"To all students of Class 1A and Class 1B, please head to the academy's courtyard as soon as possible. Class teachers, please help MONITOR the situation lest the children start another inter-class war again."
The broadcaster enunciated the word 'monitor' in his broadcast since the last inter-class war had clearly scarred him and the academy for weeks before.
"Please and thank you."
After the broadcast, the students of Class 1B remained seated since their class teacher wasn't with them.
"Why aren't you guys going?" Miss Emelyn found her students' attitude surprising and asked.
"Teacher Ryuda once said that we cannot go out without his permission. Anyone who fails to do so will have to wear the dunce cap for a whole day. We don't want to wear the dunce cap, Miss Em!" Some of the students had chills when they remembered about the dunce cap.
Since they were still kids, Ryuda's method of shaming his students into being good kids with a preschool trick worked absolutely fine.
Miss Emelyn on the other hand, could only smile wryly.
Although she was Ryuda's senior, she was only a C rank Historian whose whole life was based on reading historical texts.
Even if she pitied her students, she could only watch their misery by the sidelines.
'Please bring the students out, Miss Em. I'm currently in a tight situation with my plumber.'
Just as Miss Emelyn was about to go and search for Ryuda, her school crush's youthful voice appeared in her mind like a gushing spring.
"Eh? Eh? Sir Ryuda? But it's not my period yet–" Miss Em's face flushed as she failed at making proper sentences.
'Please help me!' Ryuda pleaded.
"O…Okay! I'll do it just for you!" [Miss Emelyn]
'Thanks!' Ryuda chirped back.
At the end of the telepathic call, Miss Emelyn took a deep breath before turning towards the students with a bright smile.
The students who were staring at her the entire time ever since they heard her shouting 'Sir Ryuda' and 'I'll do it for you!' already knew something good happened to their history teacher.
Nonetheless, to save her face, they decided to act dumb.
"Good news everyone! Sir Ryuda just told me to bring you guys out in his stead. File in a line and off we go!" Miss Emelyn said.
'Yes, I'm finally trustworthy enough to let Sir Ryuda let me lead his class!'
"Okay!!!!" The students who learned telepathy before turned a deaf ear to Miss Emelyn's last line as they left their seats before shuffling into a neat and straight two-man line.
"Everyone ready? Off we go!" Miss Emelyn fist pumped the air once before leading the students to the academy's courtyard.
Asclepius Academy Courtyard
"Tch, a teacher from the kingdom's capital is here to recruit students for their school yet the students of Class 1B haven't arrived yet." Principal Judas grumbled.
"No worries, no worries. I came here unnoticed today so just forgive the kids. They are the future of our federation after all." A hunched old man in a scholar outfit shook his head and replied.
"I can't do that. I'm merely the principal of a rural academy while you, Sir, are a sage!" Despite being the principal of Asclepius Academy, the most prestigious school within the eastern territories of the Boln Federation, Judas was willing to throw away all of his pride to grab this teacher from the capital's thigh.
In his defense, he was merely the king of cats and dogs while the old scholar in front of him was a real dragon among men.
"Looks may be deceiving but I'm actually just a scholar. I need to be SSS rank and above to gain an X rank's favor to upgrade my class. Hahaha…" The old scholar continued to humbly reply.
"Big deal! You're still a sage in the eyes of the common folk! I'm just a lowly A rank Warrior Knight, yet I was still pushed into the position of academy head by the townsfolk even though there were war veterans from the frontlines who are more capable than me."
"Hahaha, you were probably a good-for-nothing neet back then that couldn't kill an insect. The townsfolk would rather see you man up than rot away in a house. No worries, you should treat this position as an opportunity since you'll get to broaden your horizons more." The old scholar solemnly patted the principal's shoulder while smiling.
"But…But–"
Principal Judas was about to release another flood of praises towards the old scholar but was cut short by a clear and crisp voice resounded from afar.
"Sorry for the long wait, principal. Class 1B is here!"
