Dots appeared on the ground as sweat dripped down from Zyo's face. Everyone was standing still like a statue frozen in time.
"Remember what is at stake Dexterity."
Zyo breathed a sigh of relief as Freedom turned away from her and shifted his gaze towards Devina.
Aylin stood silently not saying anything but it seemed like Freedom didn't mind her at all. As if she didn't exist in his world.
Devina raised both of her hands in defeat and sat down.
"I assume you won't kill me?"
The air filled with laughter as Freedom laughed by himself. He then crouched in front of Devina and placed his hand in front of her chest.
In an instant, she swatted his hand as if it were an annoying mosquito trying to bite her at night.
Freedom's cheeks got dimples as he finished analyzing Devina. He was brimming with joy, sneering cheek to cheek.
"So those are your aspirations."
Trembling in the corner of the building, Sekito observed everything that unfolded.
"Then there is you. Serenity, oh Serenity how long ago was it since we met in the aeonic realm?"
Devina warned Freedom if he hurt Sekito, she wouldn't cooperate.
"Sekito… the human, I care not for such simplicity."
Hastily walked towards Sekito who was still sitting there. She was trembling but she tried to remain as calm as possible.
"Come out, old friend."
"Freedom if you touch her our dea…"
With one quick thrust, Freedom pierced through Sekito's chest, grabbing her heart. Blood spurted out of her open arteries. Bright crimson spilled out onto the rooftop.
"We meet again Aeon of Serenity."
Freedom was holding up Sekito's still-beating heart. It desperately tried to pump blood.
Laying motionless on the tiles, Sekito's body filled Devina's eyes. Her heart neared Freedom's fangs as he opened his mouth.
*KLING*
Smoke came out of a barrel, Devina stood there with one hand in her pocket dimension and the other holding a gun.
The bullet was blocked with one hand. A little scratch mark was left on Freedom's backhand.
"Put that back," Devina said in between breaths.
Freedom shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly before asking her why she let him out in the first place.
"You could have easily tricked Zerstörer and disengaged, but you decided to let Zerstörer and Vivshi fight. You knew that Vivshi would lose, you knew he would give up control on the brink of death."
The gun pointed at something it couldn't damage. Devina shook her gun up and down before answering.
"What I wanted. Everything I wanted, I worked for it and figured it out. It was with everything in life. No matter the problem or wish, I made sure it was accomplished. Tell me, is it freedom if you understand everything or is it freedom to not understand anything?"
"You wanted an anomaly in your daily life."
A piece of paper flew across the rooftop. Freedom caught it with his bloody hands.
"A contract?"
"My selfish wish is written on it, it can only be fulfilled by you."
Freedom laughed hysterically reading through the contract. With the blood from Sekito's heart, he signed the contract.
"This is gonna be interesting Dexterity."
With that, he shoved Sekito's heart back into her open chest wound. Black ooze dripped from his hands it looked like the ooze was reversing the damage.
And in no time her chest was back to normal just with a giant hole in her dress.
"Savor it Dexterity."
A malevolent grin that was filled with ill intentions and a thirst for Aeons. Vanished as the vessel regained control.
Like a still pool, Vivshi's eyes zoomed out into the distance. My eyes were still, but my hands were shaking.
My head tilted down to see my hand filled with blood.
"Devina… I…"
"It's okay now."
Aylin immediately ran up to me after realizing I was back to normal. Her hug seemed warmer than normal. Her heart was beating so fast as if it would explode out of her chest.
She wrapped her hands around my back. She didn't say anything but when she finally pulled away. Her eyes filled with relief and her touch was filled with care.
Devina headed towards Sekito's limp body and set her body up against the wall.
"Wake up!"
After a few shakes, Sekito's tired eyes fluttered open.
"Devina… you're stupid."
She wrapped her arms around her sister's head apologizing over and over again.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I never intended this to happen."
"Plan it better next time." Sekito coughed.
Wet pearls fell onto Sekito's cheeks. Looking up, she saw something she had rarely seen. Devina was bent over with her hands against the wall. But before anything else happened, she collected herself. Pushing herself up and wiping her face with her arm.
"Devina?"
She stood there silently in front of me.
"Do you remember anything?" She asked.
Scrambling to remember I tried to recollect what happened right before my memory went blank.
"I was falling down a cliff, and everything felt heavy, so I just closed my eyes and next moment I was here."
Devina gave the biggest sigh I had ever heard before turning her back towards me.
"Dismissed, you can go to your sister now. And you too, quit standing there and head underground already."
Zyo shook awake hearing someone calling her out.
With rigid and concerned steps she slowly backed away from Vivshi until she was at least 30 meters away then she vanished into the streets.
*Back in the hotel*
I knocked on the hotel door. Today was the day the curse should have been activated. If I had not done what I did today….
An uncomfortable thought popped into my mind but as that thought lingered in my mind the door handle turned.
Standing on the other side of that door was my little sister.
She was standing normally smiling softly at me.
Tilting her small head she started to bop it up and down.
"Welcome back Vivshi!"
