It has been half a day since we have infiltrated the academy. And we already have the "lamb" in our hands, too. If you ask me, things are made very easy for us. We have chased this "lamb" for almost two years now. When we thought that we almost had her, we failed when a sudden interference had got in our way.
This time, compared to all the past missions; this infiltration was too easy. Almost too easy to believe that I can almost think that traps are laid waiting for us. But no—it was just a luck and a great timing. Luck that the administration was naïve—we got our spies get in to the academy pretty easy since they were ability users. And great timing that Yamada Jin was out of Saint Isle. However, with our main objective; to capture the vampire princess is already met, we need to head back to our hideout now. I, Krueger Waltz, is currently preparing the transportation or rather the teleportation circle for our magnificent exit.
Well, I said things were made easy for us…but not really. One of the High-class Pillar, Malcov Kullicov, is currently engaged in a battle—and with a crazy person with ridiculous battle sense even.
I was working with this teleportation circle for a while now and yet I cannot focus because of this absurd battle is happening in front of my eyes. I haven't seen anyone fight hand-to-hand with ability user. Not until now!
The church that was once clean and sanctified was now in rubles with their clash. Malcov will go to offensive with his ability and normally one would just flee if they don't have the means to fight back—normally that is, however, instead of running away from it, that person would find chance to counter attack—throwing Malcov in surprise in every turn.
To be honest, Malcov is an ability user that was ranked within the single digit of us the High-rank Pillars. Because of his invulnerable ability he was basically invincible, the reason why he was arrogant and had a very nasty personality. Well, he does have the means to back his arrogance, but most of the members of Sacred Omen is on his bad side. Nevertheless, no one was able to touch Malcov. His ability is top tier and was meant for battle after all. Even the ranked 6-10 of the High-class Pillars were not able to lay hand on him whenever they had mock-battles.
Yet, that proud Malcov was sweating greatly. He was huffing and he was missing three of his teeth. That person he was fighting was nothing short of amazement. What's more terrifying here is that guy fighting without even relying on his ability. He was pure monster. Even Saint Matthias was watching their battle with serious expression on his solemn face.
"Krueger."
"Yes sir?!"
"We have met a monster hidden within and behind the pacifist façade of Saint Isle."
I could not agree more. This person was truly a monster. If I was the one battling him, I would have died long ago. Even when I am ranked as High-class Pillar, my ability is only useful for transport—well, I do have battle sense, too, but I am more of a support than a battle type. And to think that there was someone like this person here. I am more terrified to think that he has his ability sealed.
"Hurry the preparation for teleportation. We have consumed too much time. Hearing the explosions and the quakes from afar only means that Saffir had already begun the second phase. We must hurry as well."
"Yes, sir. I understand!"
Well, even if I said all that, I don't think Malcov could end his fight sooner. That guy was not even showing any fatigue on his face. Damn it, not only he had beautiful black hair, he also had astonishing black marbled irises. This guy must be lady-killer. I could tell!
Malcov launched another attack. He was firing something that ain't plainly visible for the naked eyes. However, his attack was making all this destruction on its wake as it chases upon the that person. They have been going at it for a minute now, but nothings really happening aside from the interior of the church being trashed. Malcov had also gone irritated. He seemed to finally understand that none of his attacks was proven useful! He shouted in rage;
"Quit your running already! You filthy rat!"
He's now resorting to verbal spat since he could not hit him. But I tell you, this person with black hair—black irises are doing something really hard to believe. I was merely speechless. I never would have thought that a human body would be capable of doing such maneuvering. He was jumping around—sliding and doing flips that I don't even know what's called. Legs strength, body manipulation, strong core, and flexibility that one would never believe unless they saw it personally. How come that no one of us heard of this monster? That Yamada Jin; he was hiding someone like this person?!
Malcov was shouting and trashing. He's basically abandoned his battle sagacity—he was purely enraged. There was no point in watching any longer. If they are just on a stalemate, then it would buy us time until I can complete the magic circle for teleportation. Long distance teleportation takes a lot of time and it had lot of details to draw. Leading that man here is a wrong decision—that Malcov really had done something stupid. And then, when I was about to continue the last part of the magic circle that I was working with, I heard something shattering like broken glasses.
"Wha—?!"
Surprised, I looked at both of them. That person was grinning. He was still at distance, so I don't know what occurred. But I'm positive I heard it. Malcov's ability being shattered.
"Yep. Gocha."
You've got to be kidding me…!
He twitched his neck then he smiled in a sinister way. He was able to break Malcov's invincible ability? That's just plain impossible. Impossible and yet—he did it. He made it shatter.
"I-impossible…!
Malcov was left in disbelief.
***
Earlier that time;
I was running away from the shards of that Malcov's ability. This person sure is crazy, ain't he? He was laying waste upon the church. The door or the entrance of the building was utterly broken along with the panes of the windows glasses. I was hitting back of course, but with no use. I cannot seem to force my fist hit him with that Gargoyle still active behind him.
"Take this!"
Another round of shard's barraged was launched from his ability. This is really troublesome. Well, sure enough I can dodge it no problem. But if this battle dragged on for a little longer then, that Krueger would finally finish the transport portal. I don't know where that portal leads to, so if they had gone without me doing anything, we would have hard time finding them at the later date. Therefore, the only conclusion that I could assume is to stop the magic teleportation from occurring. But with this Malcov in front of me, I cannot interfere with Krueger. I know how hard it was to draw magic circle by hand, so he might be taking time. But if this goes longer, he will eventually be done.
Think! Think Gleren!
I was sliding under the benches and jumping from pillar to pillar dodging the troublesome shards. But I think this idiotic Malcov is underestimating me. If he truly wants to hit me, this kind of tricks was already outdated. He should have summoned a hundred all at ones. In that case, even I could take a hit or two. Or was it that his ability was only limited with ten shards at a time? If that's so, then that would be a really disappointment. If I could activate my shadow right now, his head would be rolling by this time.
Now that I think about it…
"Opps!"
A shard went past my face and destroyed another decoration of the church which was behind me. Uwah, these shards do a lot of damage, don't they? As expected of a diamond tier hardness. Wait, diamond?
"Quit your running already! You filthy rat!"
Oh, I will. Let's try something scientific. He fired another ten shards and it seemed faster than the other rounds so far. I slid on the floor to dodge the flying shards then flipped backwards when another was about to hit me from the front. Then when another went flying at me pointblank, I twisted my body downward. It's hard ya know! But having a demonic master paid off.
The when what seemed to have left was only three shards, I run towards Malcov and caught one of the three in the mid-air. Blood was inevitably flowing from my hand since I stopped a force that was ridiculously heavy.
"KAHAHA! Idiot! What the hell were you even thinking you moron!"
He must have seen the blood on my hand and thus he was cursing at me. But, well I wonder about that. This Malcov had gone nuts. He was doing fine recently, and now he was basically throwing tantrums like a child. Oh, well!
I ran head-on taking the risk of dodging his shards at an inch distance. If I were or would be a second late to make a decision on dodging, then I would be injured. But I'm not a fond of making conclusion without a test; then without dodging the last shard I dashed towards the enemy before me. And then with a shard stuck on my abdomen I heard something amazing—a sound glass breaking.
"Yep. Gotcha!"
I grinned.
"I-impossible…"
Malcov said in disbelief as he watches his ability shattering behind him. How did I do it you asked? Well, now children—a question; how do you break a diamond again? A diamond is strong enough to withstand any force and weight—it would not break easily. But use a diamond against a diamond and it would shatter like glasses with enough force applied. I used the shard that I caught mid-air and struck the hand of the gargoyle that was covering for Malcov's body. And as I confirmed that it was doable to break it in that method—I leaped and throw the shard that was stuck at my abdomen as if flinging a shuriken—and with that, the gargoyle crumbled easily as if it was just a file of glass. I did a back flipped in the mid-air to keep my distance. And yes, Malcov's expression was priceless.
All right, then. How should we destroy his pride and his fighting spirit? KAHAHAHA. Oh, wait, I sounded like an absolute villain, did I not?
