Ethan was in a strange situation, because he was trapped in a small room, where the walls were made of metal and there was almost nothing else, except for a bed, a table and a toilet.
"I need to find a way out of here quickly.."
There wasn't anything in the room that he could use to find a way out, and he didn't have anything that he could use to entertain himself.
A few hours later, he felt an unbearable pain in his stomach, and had a fatigued body, as he hadn't eaten in many days, and he even felt as if he was going to die if he didn't eat.
The pain got so unbearable to the point where he got nauseous several times.
"Argh..!"
"I'd like to tell you that it's pretty funny to see you writhing in pain like that."
"You sadist..!"
"Ugh.. what's.. what's going on?!" He tried to shout out, but it was near impossible due to the pain in his stomach.
Just moments after, he heard a sound near the door, and when he looked at it, he saw a small, grainy cube, and nothing else.
"Am I supposed to.. eat this??" He said, inspecting it, "This is barely even eatable, what am I even supposed to do with it?"
"Well, since there's nothing else, I guess I'll have to settle with this for now, since I'm starving." He sighed, and then hesitatingly swallowed it.
"..What is this situation..?" He said, "What I'm most confused and worried about is what they're going to do to me.."
"..I guess I can think about that later, but for now.."
After laying on the ground in silence for a few minutes, he decided that he was going to get more answers about this world.
"Why were you trapped in that cavern in the first place?" He asked the fragment, "If someone like you could get chained up, how am I even supposed to-"
"Hm, all you need to know is that when I was travelling across worlds with that body that I was in, I came across a certain someone who had caused me many misfortunes in the past, as I already said."
"Uh huh.."
"But besides that, could you.. teach me how to control and fully wield your power?"
"Hm.. only if you beg me to."
"…"
"Fine.. first of all, you need to learn how to balance the core energies inside of you.." He sighed.
"Since you don't have a Core of Connection yet, this is gonna be pretty difficult."
"What is a Core of Connection??"
"How can I explain this.. it's basically how you channel the power of a Conceptual Existence, beings that hold absolute power over the concept that they're attached to, they are living concepts themselves."
"Oh yeah, I think I might've heard of them before from the knowledge and memories that I gained from your first fragment," Ethan said, "How do you create a Core of Connection though?"
"Usually you get it randomly, as you need to gain the attention of one of them and get them to acknowledge you."
"How?"
"It's simple, but, I'll have to tell you after you get out of this room, because you won't be able to gain the attention of a cosmic being in such a small space."
"Hm, then maybe I should try searching this room first, I might find some clues as to where I am right now."
He searched the entire room for several minutes, and he found some sort of diary underneath the bed.
"Is this a diary?" He said, "Woah, it's a pretty big book.."
So he opened the book and tried to read the contents of it, but all the pages except one were completely blank, and on just one page, there were just three words,
"Pinnacle of Creation." Ethan whispered.
He had a feeling that those words were definitely important.
Soon after, a loud rumble sounded from directly behind the door, which alarmed him.
"What the.. what was that..?!" He said, his voice reduced to only but a whisper.
"..Who are you?" A voice coming from somewhere around him said.
He was surprised because he didn't know that there was other people here as well.
"So there's other people trapped in this place like me?"
He responded with a small,
"Uh.. Hi..?"
Then after a few seconds, the voice replied,
"Are you in the cell next to me?"
Right now, he had no other choice but to speak to him, since he might be the only person Ethan could talk to right now.
"To be honest, I'm not sure either.. I don't even know which direction your voice is coming from."
"…"
"I'm Ethan, Ethan Lewis." He said, trying to find out a bit more about this mysterious voice, "Who are you?"
"..I'm Bryan Clarke." He replied.
"How did you get trapped here?"
"..Yes." After he said that, he went completely silent.
"Hm.. how is anyone even supposed to survive in this place..?" Ethan said, "The door is locked shut and they only feed you one small grainy cube that doesn't even seem edible.."
He heard a small whimper from the wall beside him, and he went up closer to hear.
"From what I'm guessing, there's children in this place as well.." He couldn't bear to listen any longer, so he went back to his original spot, "To think that they were so cruel.."
"Oh, that reminds me, what was that noise from earlier..?"
"It's probably just them doing some 'experiments' on another test subject, which is us." He replied.
"The ones who brought us to this place try and experiment on us, and they view us all as test subjects, they say that it's necessary, but they're probably just doing it because they're twisted."
"So, they perform experiments on us..?? What should we do? Our lives are basically in their hands.."
There is nothing we can do but just wait for our inevitable deaths," He said, "I lost all hope a long time ago…"
"I'm not sure if you should be losing hope just yet," Ethan said, "I'll try and get us both out, I have a plan in mind."
A few moments later, the door opened, and he was taken away for the 'human experimentation.'
