"Where are you off to?."
"Don't worry, I'm not running away. It'll only take a walk around the vicinity." I Answered briefly and left.
I reached the garden, I didn't know why but I felt drawn to that place. It was quiet and serene. I took my sit on the grass gently.
I couldn't help but think about my life. How my family was killed and how I ended up as a dancer. I couldn't lie, I loved my job as a dancer. I've always wished to dance for my mate one day when I meet him. Too bad, Alpha Vince already took that opportunity. I was lost in my thoughts. I didn't know how much Vincent paid for me, I wanted to work hard and pay him back so I can get my freedom and live the life I wish. I didn't want to be held back by anyone.
I decided to return inside after a few minutes so I wouldn't get into trouble. As I reached the entrance to the living room, I couldn't help but eavesdrop on Alpha Vince's conversation with his friend. I needed to find out who Hazel was and why I was brought here in the first place.
"Hazel called." I heard Vincent speak.
"What did she say?."
"Nothing, I didn't let her speak. I was so angry at her. It's been three years."
"And you cannot forget her." His friend replied.
"Yes, I know it sucks. It fucking sucks that I can't forget her. But now, I have a mate and I've found her." He revealed. I was shocked to hear what he said about finding his mate. I wondered who she was. Why didn't he go to her and just leave me be?
I continued to listen to them until Vincent's mobile phone rang and he stood up to answer. He walked in my direction. It seemed to be a private phone call since he excused himself to attend to it privately.
I quickly ran from the entrance and hid somewhere. I couldn't allow him to see me.
"Hazel? I told you never to call my line." He barked at the caller.
I wondered who Hazel was to him. Was she his ex? I continued to hear him speak to her on the phone.
"Say whatever you want to say to me on the phone. My schedule is tight to meet up with you." He explained to her.
"What!" I heard him exclaim suddenly and he ended the call. The looks on his face, I've never seen it. Alpha Vincent seemed frightened like something happened. Soon, he left the mansion with his friend. I didn't know where they were headed and I dared not ask.
Vincent's POV
I was at the hospital after Hazel told me that she was admitted. I didn't believe her words until I was called in by the doctor and he explained everything to me. Doctor Jamil had been my family doctor, he dared not lie to me. Hazel left me because she was sick. She left because her illness might kill her and I might not move on after she died. However, she was secretly Beng treated these past few years after she left. Hazel wasn't a werewolf but a human. She knew everything about me and she knows that I'm a wolf. An Alpha with duties and obligations. We've been friends since our childhood days and I promised to make her my bride. I loved Hazel so much. After I proposed to her three years ago, she rejected me and became distant. I thought that Hazel hated me but she didn't. Hazel had always loved me. She left because of her illness. She was diagnosed with cancer which had gotten incurable as she spent more time.
I was happy to have Hazel with me again, but a new person had come into my life who is my true mate. Audrey. I don't love Audrey only the mating bond between us that grew stronger, pulling me to accept and Mark her as mine.
I was seated on the bed near Hazel who was still asleep from the treatments. Karl left earlier because he had duties to attend to. He was my best friend and the only person I could rely on for help whenever there was an urgent situation.
Audrey's POV
I was so excited to get my handbag back. Garrett had given it to me after helping me to retrieve it from the brothel. I checked to make sure that everything inside was complete.
My phone too was untouched and still switched off as I left it. I quickly turned it on to check what I'd missed. I've got several missed calls from Loretta and Bruno. My two best friends. Loretta and I worked at the brothel but she left for Germany after she found her mate. Her wedding was scheduled for this month. I quickly checked on the date. Her wedding was two days ago and I promised to attend it. I was her bridesmaid. "Fuck it!." I cursed. I dare not call her right now or she might scold me to death.
I thought of ways to make it up to her. I couldn't explain my real situation to Loretta so she doesn't get too worried about me. She was now a married woman and has her own life to live.
I quickly called Bruno who I know must've been sick and worried for me.
Bruno was my boyfriend. We've been dating for two years now even though it was nothing serious. We have no sexual or intimate connection however he had always been there for me at all times. Bruno also didn't have a mate so it made us the perfect match.
I called him twice and he didn't pick up, he seemed to be busy with work. I texted him to call me immediately he gets the chance. I was ready to explain things to him. I still loved Bruno even though he wasn't my mate or such. I believe that one isn't always only entitled to their mate.
Vincent didn't return that day, I heard that he had some important family issues to attend to so he didn't come back to the mansion.
