One day, at the legendary Kame house, young teenager and youngest son of the legendary hero Son Goku, Son Goten sits and meditates on the beach infront of the ocean. Krillin and Master Roshi walk outside with smiles on their faces.
"How long has he been out here?" Roshi asks.
Krillin chuckles.
"A few hours." Krillin replies, rolling up his sleeves and taking off his shoes.
He then stands across from the young Saiyan.
"Alright Goten. Time to spar." Krillin says.
Goten opens his eyes and smiles, kipping up to his feet in excitement.
"Alright! Let's go!" Goten yells in excitement.
Goten and Krillin both start to stretch as Krillins wife, formerly known as Android 18, now known as Lazuli, comes outside holding their daughter Maron.
"Their at it again, huh?" Lazuli asks.
Roshi chuckles.
"Yep. Reminds me when Goku and Krillin trained here when they were kids."
Both Krillin and Goten take fighting stances, with a determined smirk appearing on Gotens face.
"Remember, we're going until one of us land a clean hit." Krillin says.
Goten nods.
"I won't loose this time, Master Krillin." Goten says.
Krillin chuckles.
"We'll just see about that." Krillin says.
Roshi then steps forward and raises his hand up in the air.
"Begin!" Roshi says, bringing his hand down.
At that moment, both Goten and Krillin rush at each other with great speed, clashing with powerful strikes. Goten tries to land a roundhouse kick to the side of Krillins head, but Krillin dodges it. The martial arts veteran then throws a counter punch, but his young pupil blocks it just in time. The two fighters throw multiple fast paced strikes, each one of them either blocking or dodging the other.
"Daddy and Goten are amazing!" Marron cheers.
Krillin dodges another punch from Goten and goes for a powerful kick. Goten quickly ducks down, and lands an uppercut on Krillin, knocking him across the beach. Goten is surprised for a moment, then smiles.
"YES! I finally did it! I finally beat Master Krillin!"
As Goten celebrates, Krillin slowly sits up while clutching his jaw with a smile on his face. Master Roshi walks over to his old student and offers his, helping him up.
"Seems the boy improves even faster than Goku. It's amazing how quickly Saiyan's can grow in strength." Roshi says.
"Yeah, he came here for training a month ago and he's already surpassed us. Man I should've been a Saiyan." Krillin says.
The two turtle hermits then approach Goten who is still celebrating and bows. Goten smiles, bowing back out of respect. Lazuli then tosses Krillin and Goten bottles of water and towels.
"Alright boys, looks like you both could use these."
Goten smiles.
"Thanks Ms. Lazuli." Goten says, sitting down and drinking his water.
Krillin sits next to him and smiles.
"It goes without saying, but you've improved a lot in such a short amount of time. I'm even more surprised that Chichi let you train as often as you do." Krillin says.
Goten laughs.
"Well she made me promise to keep up with my studies in school, but that's harder than it sounds. School was always Gohan's thing, not really mine. But I'm doing my best, you know?" Goten says with a chuckle.
Krillin laughs.
"Guess you're like your dad in more ways than one. He wasn't exactly book smart himself. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen him even read a book."
Both Krillin and Goten laugh but then Krillin thinks about something.
"So, when you first came to me for training, I didn't ask. But now I am kinda curious... What exactly is your goal?"
Goten is confused.
"My goal?"
"Yeah. Why do you want to get stronger? Your reason for training as intensely as you do?"
Goten thinks for a moment.
"When I was younger... Gohan would tell me stories about the fights you guys would have Against Piccolo and his dad,Vegeta, Frieza, and Cell. Yeah they sound cool, but it got me thinking... "what if someone even stronger than those guys show up?" A small part of me was worried, because with my dad gone, and Gohan not wanting to fight, we might be in serious trouble. Sure we still have Vegeta and Piccolo, but what if those two aren't enough?"
Goten then stands to his feet.
"Then a large part of me got excited, thinking about the strong guys that might show up. Sure, it's scary that they might be evil and want to kill us, but the thought of facing them, testing myself, and getting stronger just thrills me. So I want to get stronger, for both myself, and to protect others. I'll get strong enough to protect everyone, and face down whoever comes our way."
Krillin looks up at Goten, seeing his bestfriend in him and smiles.
"Yeah Goku. He's definitely your kid." Krillin thinks to himself.
Goten then thinks for a moment and screams, surprising everyone.
"Oh no!"
"What? What happened? What's wrong?" Krillin asks.
Goten grabs Krillin by the shirt and pulls him in close.
"I'm going to be late for school!" Goten yells, pushing Krillin to the ground.
Goten then whistles.
"Nimbus!" He yells.
The flying cloud then appears in seconds and Goten jumps on, taking off with great speed.
"Bye guys! See you later!"
Krillin sighs on the ground while everyone else laughs.
"That kid." Krillin says.
While Goten lives his everyday life, Goku watches on from other world alongside King Kai
"Those are some amazing kids you got there." King Kai says.
Goku smiles.
"Yeah. I'm proud of both of my sons." Goku says.
Meanwhile the world tournament announcer, Mr. Alonsa, puts up a poster then smiles when he looks up at it.
"And we're back, baby." He says excitingly.
At that moment, the world Champion Mr. Satan approaches him with a smile.
"Well I must say, I look good. But what's the point of having a tournament, it's not like anyone is going to actually beat me. I mean I am the world Champion for a reason." Hercule says.
"Well we haven't had a tournament since you beat Cell. The people want to see you in action. Not only that but they want to see if those mysterious fighters will show up to."
Mr. Satan has a small hint of panic in his eyes but soon laughs it off.
"Please, those bozos won't be coming. They're probably off doing magic shows with those fake parlor tricks."
Mr. Satan laughs while walking away, secretly worried about the z-fighters possibly showing up. Mr. Alonsa shrugs it off and continues to admire the poster.
