Seraphina jolted awake from her deep sleep, her senses immediately alerted by the sensation of a hand gently rubbing her back. The unfamiliar touch sent a foreign shiver down her spine, disturbing her more than she had anticipated.
She fluttered her eyes slightly, only to tightly shut them again, desperately yearning for a few more moments of sleep.
Despite the disquieting sensation on her skin, she chose to ignore it, unwilling to let go of the calm sleep she had experienced the previous night. It had been an elusive and profound sleep, unlike anything she had ever known. It was the first peaceful sleep she had ever since she got to this world.
But, it was interrupted. A low groan escaped, causing her to furrow her brow in response. Her legs sprawled apart, her hands spread wide, and beneath her fingertips, she could feel something rigid and unyielding.
