Miraculously, all the masked individuals flee in terror. Wiz puts away his flare gun and surveys the hole where Father Samuel disappeared. Lucas then continues to dance and hum deeper into the forest, Holly follows him by singing her beautiful song. Holly quickly rummages through Lucas's pockets and retrieves a paper seal, which she promptly places on his forehead, causing him to immediately stops him from sleepwalking. Mako catches up to his injured father, Wiz, who rises slowly, realizing that the log that struck him has transformed into a sentient tree creature. With his katana drawn, Mako positions himself in front of Wiz, ready to defend him. The tree creature charges at them, and Mako strikes, but his katana shatters upon impact. The creature's roots extend from its arm, entwining around Mako and constricting him, eliciting agonized screams.
